In my run I think the only augs I didn't get were Dermal Plating, the leg enhancements and Icarus. Everything else was maxed.

Ok, update on my HUD problem: entering and then exiting the Police station made the mission indicators and the toolbar reappear, but not the ammo counter, the health bar or the radar. Hugely irritating.

Just to elaborate, "Getting Things Done" is something you get for every main objective you complete, even if it's as mundane as "Talk to Sarif". The other one you probably get is "Completionist", which you nab every time you finish an objective for a side quest.

Just started going through again and got the social aug early, and what a difference it made to the police station mission, I just convinced the guy in the lobby to let me in to the morgue, and I was given free reign around the entire station. Some great conversations to be had.

Sarif lines in the trailer were really different and sounded better in a trailer while in the game they used a more annoying Sarif on purpose. The guy who did Sarif pulled off condescending really well. For takedowns I really wish they used 60% energy or whatever so that they wouldn't drain an entire battery. Either that or make candy bars easier to get in large numbers.
|
# ? Aug 30, 2011 13:03 |
Yeah, the battery thing is annoying. In my first game I rarely ever had above 1 bar and even if I did I'd rarely use it for anything but knocking out fools. I'd cloak for a few seconds at a time so I wouldn't ever use a full bar, saving them for later. It'd be nice if the final upgrade for batteries let you charge empty ones. Maybe have the duration be a few minutes of non combat or something.

Here are the bonuses I've noticed: Completionist/Getting Things Done is the base value you get for completing an objective. Ghost is for not alarming any hostile to your presence (i.e. they can spot you, but as long as they're just searching and not aware it's you you're fine) Smooth is for no alarms being activated (this means no guards activating alarm panels, no failed hacks in areas that have alarm systems, no being discovered by/shooting cameras) EDIT: vvvvv oh. Crack the Deus Ex: Human Revolution code ( http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/08/30/crack-the-deus-ex-human-revolution-code/ ) Have you seen the cryptic code on the Deus Ex: Human Revolution title screen? Reddit has ( http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/jydrq/any_clues_what_the_cryptic_update_message_in_deus/ ), and its codebreakers are already at work. A URL? An SQL injection? Part of a longer reference to Megadeth? All theories are welcome, and if you’re looking for a hacking challenge slightly more involved than realising you can click multiple nodes at once when attacking systems, here you go. This mysterious code follows up promises of a special announcement yesterday, which could be anything from DLC to news of an expansion, to a slightly premature celebration of Deus Ex at least temporarily kicking Zumba Fitness from its perch on the Top 10. At the very least, it looks like there’s something interesting on the way, regardless of how long it takes this code to be cracked open. (I don't think anyone has figured out anything about it yet)

A problem with many stealth/shooter hybrids is that they usually favor the shooter build because of boss fights. I've just hit the first boss fight with my stealth/hacker build and am having a terrible time.

Yeah, first time I went in there, playing on GIVE ME DEUS EX. And it was terrible. I ran around stunning him with the taser, throwing barrels at him like donkey kong, tring to rig up mines when I could. Blugh.

After playing the leak and using AUDs all the time I was getting really sad I couldn't open level 5 doors and stuff early on, but then I remembered that stuff about doors and walls having health attached to them. After the first boss I had alot of frag grenades so this was no problem. I used a shotgun with double blast to take out a punchable wall with a dude on the other side, the shot knocked down the wall AND killed the guy (which was awesome), then his friends ran over and were like 'What the hell happened?!' Up to Hengsha now, and the first thing I've noticed is the asian npc's have those weird plastic wrap looking faces like they did in DX 1. Not sure if this is intentional or not, but it made me laugh.

I've just hit the first boss fight with my stealth/hacker build and am having a terrible time. I don't actually think the first boss fight is that much of a problem because of that. It sucks simply because it's unexpected and incredibly out of place, but you should be able to kill him without too much of a problem. I basically stunned him with grenades and then shot him in the face with an upgraded pistol. I've not got much further so I don't know if the bosses get much worst but they aren't annoying because of your build. They're just crappy in general.

All they needed were some vents and consoles to hack and some turrets that shoot at you connected to a computer somewhere to make these fights more viable.

Use the mine templates you can find in that area and combine them with grenades to create mines, personally I preferred EMP mines for that fight, but frags work nicely too.

My main issue with the boss fights is that they instantly throw you into an action sequence with almost zero time to think about the situation, making them feel dependent on twitch skills. I don't expect to be in control of every single situation, but nonetheless...starting a fight with an extremely powerful, heavily armed force of nature that's hostile by default and about ten feet in front of you felt stunningly unfair.

In there anyway to retry a side mission? I was doing the cloak and dagger one and there was a part where I was supposed to knock out this gang banger in an apartment building and he ended up dying and the chick I got the mission from was gone and the objective just disappeared. Unfortunately I didn't save right before that and it didn't look like there was any way to redo it. I completed all the other objectives though. It was just that last one that I messed up.

The game keeps the last two autosaves, and periodically autosaves as you move through parts of the city. You should have an autosave from when you entered the apartment block, unless you wandered a lot after that and overwrote them.
