What's up with the gambling? I tried to load up an old character that I got bored with in DM, but I can't win all the chips from the casino. I get to 5000 no sweat and after about 45 mins of trying I cannot progress past this point whatsoever. I just want to completely break the game. :(

What do you mean by "cannot progress" ? As in it won't let you play any of the games at all or do you just go on unlucky streaks? The Casinos have differing limits for the amount you can win as well.

Since I have some experience with Blackjack I could get shooed off after about five to ten minutes at the table with average luck. So in around a half an hour I plundered just under 30k worth of caps plus prizes from the big three in Vegas.

I was thinking about the Stealth Suit from OWB the other day. Does anyone else think it kinda fits that the suit can basically get you addicted to med-x and burn through your stimpaks really quickly?

I kinda like that as in the theme of a lot of the tech in Big MT being... really advanced yet hosed up and not quite to the point of perfection yet. Like the Trauma Harnesses for example.

Plus, the voice is just adorable at times. It just fits too well that it would get you addicted to drugs while sounding all cutesy about it.

Companions are really powerful in NV compared to the other Fallouts. This is because they have some sort of sixth sense that tells them when an enemy's nearby and exactly where it is, so you will literally never be snuck up on. If you want the game to be even mildly difficult, don't use them, or just use one. Boone is especially overpowered with his rifle. On my game I'm playing with Cass because at least she doesn't one-shot everything with her crappy caravan shotgun, but honestly the gameplay is better if you use none.

Is there any way to reduce crashing? It used to never crash but now that I'm around level 32 and have completed all of the DLCs besides Lonesome Road, the game crashes probably every 3-5 times I transition into a new area (i.e.: goes into the loading screen and crashes). Is it like Oblivion and I left too many doors open or something?

That vault was superbly presented. I love how that first holotape presents you with a dialog between four/five people, but the conversation doesn't make sense to you since you don't have any context. Then as you progress through the vault and find out what has been going on, you realize they were the last four/five people alive. At first, reading the computers with candidates saying "Don't vote for me! I have a family." was really odd until you figure out the story. Obsidian did such an awesome job with that one.

I just played through Vault 11 a few days ago, and it was incredible. I went in with no companions, and after piecing the story together expected the ending to be anticlimactic. As I sat in the chair with the slideshow, my guess was that the twist was each overseer/sacrifice was allowed to leave the vault. Instead, i'm fighting for my life against hordes of robots and turrets, and barely survived, thanks to a few well thrown pulse grenades. The final tape is just... wow.

I even enjoyed Vault 34, due to the adrenaline rush of barely making it out before my radiation gauge got completely full, despite making liberal use of Rad-X and RadAway What a fantastic game.

So i've checked off Vault 11, 22 and 34. Any other ones worth checking out?

It will crash alot just because Gamebyro is a crappy engine. There are a couple things you can do to reduce crashing and make it less painful when it happens however:

Turn off autosave and resist the urge to quicksave every five seconds. For some reason the game crashes more often if you do so. Turning off the Steam cloud will also help. Manually save or use one of those autosaving mods. If you're gonna fast travel or enter a new location, do a manual save beforehand. At least if it crashes you won't lose progress. Having too many saves will also cause the game to crash often. Keep about 5-10 manual saves and never overwrite the old ones, save in new slots and delete the one ones.

Following these steps should go a long way in reducing the amount of crashes, plus it'll make the game slightly more challenging. Or just live with the crashes and pretend it's the Courier having a stroke and temporary memory loss. You did get shot in the head, after all. :commissar:

Also, be thankful you're playing on the PC and not a console. If you were on a console, a crash would mean roughly 10 minutes of down time while you re-booted the console (since there's no desktop to crash to) and then wait for your precious save to load at the speed of molasses in January. When my game goes down on the PC, it's rarely more than a minute or two before I'm back to playing. On the console I would go and make myself a snack and come back after an episode of something.

Go to Vault 19. Nice little quest, makes use of C4, oh, and you can once and for all rid the wastes of Powder Gangers while gaining Great Khan reputation.

It's located, roughly, west of Whitaker Farmstead. It's north of Quarry Junction.

On the subject of Vault 19, I did a pretty dickish thing accidentally. I made a deal between the Great Khans and Powder Gangers, the Khans accept the Powder Gangers into their group, but then I convinced Papa Khan to take his whole tribe back West. Now the Powder Gangers in Vault 19 are more or less stranded.

I think I'll put them out of their misery, now that I think about it :D

edit: Oh and if you go there, mind the Deathclaws that love to wander north into that area. It happens about half the time.

Also how does point allocation go in reference to leveling up? I am going to do a low int run an I was planning on making a character with basically 1 int and 1 per, all about explosives and modeled after duke nukem. is it worth it to move up to 3 int to get the extra skill points?
