It all came full circle with the pack. I played SotC, and then when RDR came out, I had to unlearn the horse controls from SotC. Then I get SotC again and end up having to unlearn the RDR horse controls.

It has poison chihuahuas, you get to punch Elvis, and at one point you pick a fight with a Gorilla in a luchadore outfit just because. It's also an amazing beat-em-up with great physicality and spanking combos.

It is awesome.

(but only get it if you have a reasonable tolerance for difficulty in games - it gets a bit tricky, around the 3rd chapter)

I really like the XMB interface for the PS2 Classics. The icons being the actual game boxes and the color scheme for the background is great. It looks way sharper and better than PSOne Classics.

It's just amazing that Sony sprung this out of nowhere with such an incredible hardcore launch lineup. I can't wait to see what they'll bring later on.

One of the reasons I always watch their E3 conference every year is to see if a PS2 Classic program would start...and it just starts out of the blue at the end of a paragraph about some random "PSN Only" games.

Agreed, especially about the difficulty, but the thing that makes God Hand great is that the game is never unfair. Any regular enemy can kick your rear end in a heartbeat, but if you can keep your cool and have good enough reflexes, you can effortlessly dodge anything they throw at you and respond by using the power of a god to summon a baseball bat and hit them so hard they become a star.

Those first couple stages, you'll think this game is a cheap and unfair piece of crap, and most people (IGN) didn't get any further than that. But once you get past trying to play it like any other beat-em-up where you can take dozens of hits and just whale on the square button and actually pay attention to dodging (dodging is your best friend), suddenly you find yourself turning into a dervish, ducking under kicks and uppercuts and beating a demon to death without breaking a sweat. It's really a game that rewards reflexes and concentration, and you really do feel like a better player the more you play. And if you ever start loving up, the game even goes a little easier on you, and when you do better, the game gets harder. It's constantly evolving to your level of skill.

Lot of words. Sorry. But man, do I love God Hand.

More like the the more awesome you are, the game tries to be just as awesome! Start a level with a bunch of catapults shooting at you making you always move and be annoying? Punch those fuckin' rocks right back, grab that big titted bitch and spank her a few times. And then drop kick her.

Got Elemental Monsters since it was free, but I'm pumped for Ring of Red. I played the hell out of it when the PS2 first came out, but then sold it and never could find it again. I don't know when I'll have time to play it between all the other stuff coming out (it doesn't help that RoR's pace is super-slow), but I'm glad just to have it again.

I always wanted to try GrimGrimoire and Odin Sphere, too. Spending that $60 is gonna be easy, unfortunately.

I'm impressed with all the little things. Sony managed to entirely remove the necessity for "virtual memory cards", so you're not shuffling around these stupid cards like with the PSOne Classics. Every game has its own dedicated "save file" like the PS3 games do.

Odin Sphere is awesome, due greatly in part to the balance between using experience points for actual growth of your weapon's power, or putting them into plants to grow food to increase your hp.

I'm in the minority when it comes to this opinion but I like Odin Sphere so much more than Muramasa that it's not even funny. Muramasa wasn't bad but after all the fun poo poo Odin Sphere did, it seemed to much less interesting. Muramasa is prettier and doesn't have massive slow down, but those are really the only things it has on Odin Sphere.

Man...now that I think about it, my three favorite games from the PS2 gen (Okami, SotC and Odin Sphere) are all games that some people find massive flaws in that I either don't see or just don't care about.

Huh, really? Is there an option in the XMB you have to enable for that?

I play my PS3 on a 26" LCD monitor and it did look a bit sharper compared to playing on my PS2 over composite, but some features looked fuzzier too. I assumed that's cause I was playing on a bigger screen.

I got a PS3 and I'm currently looking to catch up to recent titles and stuff I missed. I have quite a small budget of 200 and I'm looking to get the best titles I can get by November.
Of course, the main 2 games I'm looking forward to is Dark Souls and Uncharted 3.

But I want to ask your opinions about these games and hopefully shed some light on what titles I should get.

Yakuza 3/Yakuza 4
-Never played the Yakuza games and I hear they're great, should I get Yakuza 3 over Yakuza 4 though?
Vanquish
-Hear it's a great game and I enjoyed the demo, but I heard it was extremely short
Sly Cooper trilogy
-Never played Sly cooper but I really love Ratchet & Clank and I wonder if I'll enjoy it
Resident evil 5
-RE4 was my favourite game and I haven't bought RE5 yet to play it, I hear you need to play coop to make it not suck.
Disgaea 4
-Never played a NIS strategy game and I heard this game was good.
Enslaved
-Heard it was a decent title like Heavenly sword
Catherine
-I really liked Persona 3 and 4 and that's all I know about this title.
Little Big Planet 2
-I bought Little Big Planet 1 but never played it, people kept trying to tell me to get this though.
Atelier Totori
-Heard it was a fun JRPG and I would love to play one of those.

maybe
Child of Eden
-Recommended by someone, no clue what it's like
Killzone 3
-I enjoyed Killzone 2, not sure if I want more of the same.

Skip Yakuza 3 and go straight to 4. I haven't played 4 but I found 3 to be rather lackluster. After playing Yakuza 2, I couldn't help but feel let down and did not expect the ending to come so soon.

Chew on that... you overgrown son of a bitch.

Vanquish is indeed short. If you can pick it up on the cheap, go for it.

Rather than flat out telling you to buy or skip RE5, I'll ask you this: do you want to play co-op RE4 that cuts most, if not all, of the campiness?

As for LBP2, you say you already have LBP1, so give that a whirl for a bit. You should know whether you want the sequel after a few sets of levels.

Check out the thread to see if it's something you'd like. For the money, you can get a ton of hours out of it, but you kinda have to enjoy the grind/finding new ways to make numbers get bigger quicker(even if you just play the main story you'll still get plenty of gametime for $50).

I like it, and it's the first PS3 game I'm actually trying to get all the trophies for, but it's not like the Persona games at all. It's a puzzle game mixed with story segments. Again, check out the thread here to see the reaction to it. Not a must have IMO.

Enslaved is worse than Heavenly Sword but it's still pretty good. It should be cheap enough that it's worse the risk if you liked Heavenly Sword.

Catherine has the same feel as the Persona games but it's a block puzzle game. It's a really good block puzzle game but it's still just a block puzzle game. It has some social story elements, but frankly their weaker then the ones present in the Persona series.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is a game that keeps on giving. There's always stuff to do. But play LBP 1 first.

Child of Eden is pretty much Rez but prettier and a little less interesting. If you haven't played Rez, Rez is like Panzer Dragoon took X and Shrooms. If you haven't played Panzer Dragoon, Panzer Dragoon is like the turret section of an FPS except fun and interesting.

I can't quite remember, but it is the single most annoying part of the game. My best guess is playing one of the later stages in the first character's story should produce slowdown, but it might be noticeable as early as the first stage.

That combined with the gameplay being largely composed of running through several weak enemies over and over again in the same environments as different characters got boring to me by the fourth character. I do want to give it another shot though, since I really do like how the game is presented.

There should be (but hopefully not) slowdown when you're fighting large groups of enemies, which is pretty often. You'll know it if you see it.

If you've got a buddy to play with, RE5 is probably worth playing if you like the kind of game it is. If you're playing alone, it's loving terrible. I remember spending a couple of the later boss fights allotting more time to picking Sheva up so that I didn't get an instant KO if I got sideswiped, and yet she pretty much just ran straight into getting knocked over. It almost felt like an escort mission instead of a boss fight after a certain point.

Playing online will just net you people running around with post-game special weapons and, if you didn't disable it, infinite ammo. I spent an entire stage just staring as my coop partner killed everything before I could even try to help, and then proceeds to disconnect before the stage ends.
