Can't guarantee this is going to fix yours necessarily, but you will at least feel like you worked on a car when you take them apart and re-assemble them. And it won't hurt.

This is the best racing game I have ever played. However, I have a bit of a stupid question, probably.

Now that I have finished the Career and gotten all the prizes, I decided to chase down some of the titles that I have missed. For the "drive 1000 miles in a Corvette" title, is there a way to tell how much you have driven a given car? My Affinity screen says I have 400 miles in Chevy, but most of that is my Camaro. Do I just have to get in a Vette and run loops of the Brickyard until I get it? Also, is it a single Corvette or all Corvettes? As in do miles in a ZR1 and a Grand Sport stack or do I have to get one or the other to 1000?

Also something funny to do if you get bored: make Bad Decisions Cars. some of the most cheap, low-score cars like an Aygo can be engine swapped and turbocharged to insane levels. What I like to do is install every upgrade that boosts HP and nothing else so I have an S-Class Aygo with street tires and 600 HP. It...careens.

I'll vouch for this. Over the last few days I've decided to play The Fast & The Furious: The Game and tested out how far F4 will let you rice up cheap Japanese cars. Neon paint jobs and tribal decals, body kits, and HP boosts abound.

Hell, with some suspension and tire improvements, you can definitely take sub $10k cars and pour ridiculous amounts of cash into them to soup them into at least R1 territory.

Make sure to win a few races with these things first to get level 5 affinity though. Spending $140k on a stupid "what if I did this dumb thing..." question is unnecessary when you could do the same for like 9 grand and a few laps.

What happens is, that foam piece gets jammed and the brakes stick on. Then, when you reset the wheel, it calibrates that jammed spot as the zero position, so you have to hit the brake way harder to get it to respond. Putting better lubrication on should fix it.

I think one of the biggest limits on a lot of these is what they let you do with the tires. There's a number of crappy Japanese compacts that you can turn into fast sports cars with enough engine upgrades and the RWD conversion, but only a few that let you go past something like 225 tire width which is kind of annoying when you're at like 700 horsepower

It just refers to the model family, so if you got to your garage and hit 'X' for the car list or whatever, you can sort the cars in your garage by all sorts of metrics, one of which is model family where it will group all Corvettes together. Unfortunately there is no easy way to see how many miles you put towards that badge.

Not quite I'm afraid. I've gone through and made tuning setups for all F, E, and most D class cars for all classes and drive types ie for and Aygo F200FWD/RWD/AWD, E275FWD/RWD/AWD and so on and the first slower car you can really get up there is the Datsun 510 which can be brought to the top of R3, in all of F, E and as much of D as I've managed there's probably not more than 5 cars that can be brought to the top of R3 (PI800).
This has a lot to do with the fact that certain platforms just can't support higher performance. You'll usually notice it once you break in to S class because you have all handling and drivetrain upgrades and have swapped in a better engine that you get less and less PI for every engine upgrade. The car just can't take any more power.

Engine swaps are a big thing for putting cars into absurd classes. the Datsun can take the RB26DETT, which can be turbocharged the goddamned moon and back, but I tried it with I think either a Nova or a Chevelle and maxed out in the middle of S class, though I don't remember if I engine swapped that one or not. It makes me wish they'd put in the VW Phaeton, just for access to that sweet, sweet, W12. You should be able to get just about any shitbox into A or even S class, though.

My favorite rags-to-riches engine swap is Ford. They let you put the Shelby GT500 engine in pretty much anything above a Ka. Fully upgraded it will give 925 HP to a Focus or T-bird. Which is great. But yes, I want a w12 Golf.

I kinda want a DLC that lets you swap any engine into any car. Throw the SSC Aero engine into my Elise and see if I can make it fly down Fujumi Kaido. That would of course be silly, but I still want it.

I guess I'll check how much it is right from MS before buying it online, again.

And cheers for letting me know guys, I wouldn't mind the lack of money temporarily from the storefront, but the idea of having to slog for 2 hours putting in descriptions and re uploading my poo poo was a bad bad though!

EDIT: As far as engine swaps go, my fav is still whatshisnames idea of sticking the V8 into the pinto with no other upgrades, its almost a racing class of its own goddamn.

Unfortunately that's probably more of a licensing issue than a "we just don't want you to do it" issue since you can only do drivetrain swaps and engine swaps from within that manufacturer. Now that I think about it though I don't see why they don't let us swap between in house brands like Bentley/VW swaps etc.

Gonna third the Phaeton vote but only 'cos I wanna drive a Phaeton in F4...the engine swaps would be awesome though

I've been wondering that for a while, because it prevents me from putting a LS9 where it may or may not belong; in a Solstice, Fiero, CTS-V, or Typhoon. Why shouldn't the world have a Mini with RWD and a S54B32? The Sport Quattro could be even more insane with a helping of quad-turbo W16 borrowed from Bugatti. For that matter, the Hummer did have a 350 as an engine choice back in its early days, that's close enough to a LS1, right?

You can also put the lovely Ford stock car engine into some models. The '65 Ford Mustang GT Coupe has the lowest PI of any Ford you can swap it into. If you upgrade handling and drive-train all the way just drop it in and it upgrades perfectly to S700 as long as you leave it in RWD config.

I have a question about heel toeing. Do you have to do it the way everyone else does? Is there a specific reason for braking with the toe and hitting the gas with the heel? I'm a bit duck footed so my right foot doesn't rotate very far that way, so I've just been having my foot sideways hitting the brake with my heel and rotating my ankle to hit the gas with my toe.

Sort of, when heel-toe was common in consumer vehicles the pedals were set up so that it was really your only option.. the brake pedal was under your toes, and the gas pedal was anchored near your heel.

But if your current pedal set allows you to do it the other way, there's nothing wrong with it. Just be aware if you ever climb into an older manual vehicle you might have issues.

After weeks of playing only rivals and online racing with GTCC, I went back into single-player to work on my career.

What a mistake!

I had forgotten just how terrible racing with the AI is. Forget about ever doing a clean lap, until you've fought your way to the front. Because the AI cars will drive straight into you while following their line blindly oblivious to the cars around them. You can try to drive defensively, but in a large field it's not possible to avoid them all and move up in position.
So, maybe there is a certain bloody-minded satisfaction to be had in cutting the inside of every corner and shunting the AI drivers out. But it's not my style and I don't like it. And I won't look at a leaderboard until I turn in a clean lap.

Get in a heavy AWD car, get next to 1st on a straightaway, spin him, watch him get hit by every other AI car.

Alternatively: get on the outside of the lead AI car on the last turn at Road America, smash him into the end of the pit wall, watch him careen across the track in front of the rest of the field, causing a massive pileup.

That's how I keep myself occupied when I'm grinding out the event list.
