So I just bought out my contract($30) and the guy in retention's said it would take a little while to kick in before I can go out and buy a new phone. Anyone know how long this usually is? My blackberry no longer holds a charge and I need a phone today.

Took about an hour and a half when I did it on Monday.

I have one line with a corporate discount and one line with a (free) Airrave on it. Is there anything I can say to get my contract fulfilled with these new discount changes? I've called and they've said no. I'm tired of the network. Even when I have good signal, it's painfully slow.

Thanks. I was trying for the easiest way for me, but none of my options are really that hard. My ETF is not really that bad anyway.

There's talk that Sprint will probably release it after they release the Galaxy Nexus just to make people buy that first if they want ICS.

Not sure how true that'd be though.

Yeah, I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek about never, but I'm ready to upgrade unofficially at this point.

EDIT: This might be a question for the rooted thread, but since I've posted here anyway, I'm using Ubuntu and having a hard time getting the SDK/adb installed. Anyone have a good guide for that?

After loving around with GV integration for a long time, I finally am getting rid of it. It just does not reliably allow me to send texts. I had a Palm Pixi, so I thought it was partly the phone. But now I have a SGS2, and I'm suddenly needing to text clients, and it's still the exact same issue. Typically, a text will look as though it's been sent in my default messaging app, but not in the desktop GV app. It seems to happen to some, but not all, texts sent within an arbitrary timeframe. Then, 1-21 days later, they all get sent at once (yes, my girlfriend has gotten texts from me almost one month after I sent them).

I finally said to myself, "If this wasn't a free Google product, I would have trashed it long ago." I mean, I need to be honest with myself: the only worthwhile thing GV offers me is voicemail services, which I can keep without GV integration.

For my needs, GV isn't even worthwhile as a free service.

Google Voice is just really slow to open on any phone I've used, but I like that if a text shows as sent, it was definitely sent.

I've used google voice for over 2 years and it has only gotten better for me with the sprint integration. I have it with 2 android phones and it works fine, and it also worked fine with windows phone 7 when I had that.

I see a lot of people complaining about dropping calls or data here but it be really great if I knew what area you live in.

I'm currently a T-Mobile customer in NYC and am considering switching to Sprint for an iPhone. Does anyone have any info about service here? I'm usually in Manhattan but I go to Brooklyn and the edge of New Jersey somtimes.

Has anyone had any luck getting an Airrave for free lately? I just called to see if they'd bend for me, but they wanted the full price for it. I'm in a "fair" area on their coverage map and any call over 5 minutes is pretty much guaranteed to drop at some point and many calls don't even get through to me. My upgrade is next week, so I'm hoping a new phone may help, but I'm doubtful. I'm half tempted just to pay for the airrave because not receiving calls is becoming a huge annoyance.

I don't think Wifi calling is a "phone of sufficient hardware/software" problem, but rather is an "incapable of handoff with legacy voice networks" problem. And Sprint is some time from deploying VoLTE which would fix that.

Blackberrys have been able to do UMA for a while, at least the T-Mobile ones. It's more of a 'they have to have the hardware and system in place to support it' kind of issue.

Has anyone had issues with the cellular service in the last couple of months? I've got an Evo 4G running CM7. When the problem started I assumed it was just situational but after a few weeks of it not going away I tried a new radio flash (which did nothing). I've tried going back to a complete stock restore for a day or two (once again did nothing). At this point I have no idea if it's the phone or the service. I also notice I can't seem to get wimax anymore even though I used to have full service for it at my house.

My signal strength is usually around -95 dBm lately and it used to be in the 60s or 70s.

Yes, T-Mobile allows wifi calling, the other carriers don't, preferring femtocells.

My understanding is that the other carriers haven't embraced wifi calling due to the handoff issues. Apparently T-Mo doesn't care about that.

I'd be willing to deal with handoff issues or recalling someone if it meant I could use wifi for calls and SMS like T-Mobiles. It was really handy at my ex's parents when I got absolutely no reception.

Did you call the number in the OP? I have yet to have a customer get denied one. Every once and a while you get some idiot who won't do it, but the rule there is to just hang up and call back in. But don't pay for the thing.

I called Sprint to cancel TEP on my Evo4G, and decided to ask about the Galaxy Nexus as well...what a mistake that was. The guy had no clue what I was talking about and asked 4 times if I was talking about the Galaxy S or the Epic touch...do they just not train anybody in customer service? I even talked to a supervisor who had no clue what I was talking about either, or anything about 4G LTE.
