I don't think I checked (and I was fighting them too; I just don't rotate stuff like that). We should be getting code in the next couple days or so, and I'll happily check for you then.

You just share the PSN account information between two people, and both of their PS3s have full access to that game content (such as Kane & Lynch). It used to be 5 systems per game content, meaning you could share a game with 4 other people and each pay 1/5th the price, but they recently dropped it down to only 2 people. And to clarify on sharing - the CEO of Sony America actually said it was a deliberate feature, and an incentive to buy a PS3 in the early days of the console. Publishers must have grumbled later on, and they tightened it from 5-way sharing to only 2. Still, yeah - it was known (and is known) by Sony, and was once billed as a feature. People thought they had found a loophole and were being clever, though.

Sony kneecapped the PS3/PSP account activation number right around the time PS3's Games on Demand program entered maturity. So yeah it was definitely a publisher thing. With the way Sony handled accounts on Vita, I doubt PS4 will even have easily switchable accounts.

It'll be nice to have a platinum trophy for J&D after having earned it three or four times back in the day.

That's too bad, as we're getting a few Starhawk codes that I was just going to give out here or on Twitter or something. Oh well, that probably means the Vita stuff will be at least partially live after the maintenance is all finished up. I'm pretty sure Sony's going to start sending out review units to the press soon, so that makes sense.

The biggest and most important question is though, can she die? Or is it the pattern established in HL2 where your companion is invincible and you don't need to worry about them at all. edit: its possible that you can't control the girl simply because they decided from the beginning that there would be no scenes of her dying in the game no matter what, and if she was a player character that would certainly happen. The texturing on the truck in the third screenshot is terrible, but the game's like a year from release and still in heavy development. The important thing is the style, and that looks fantastic.

Would be pretty cool if you were playing as the girl, had a limited (but still very capable) moveset, and then there was also this big NPC guy that couldn't die. Like a reverse escort mission. Most of the game would be sneaking around, opening doors for the NPC, and occasionally avoiding enemies while they stream in and he kills them all. Then there'd be a boss battle where he's fighting against this thing, and you have to climb up to a vantage point and snipe its weak point. Is there a game like that? I feel like I've played sequences like that and a lot of games have a "here's an all-powerful NPC, hang around it while it kills things" part, but for the whole game?

I'm worried about the little girl being really annoying. Games where you have to hand hold a A.I. character are really tough to pull off, and more often then not, frustrate players to the point where they aren't having fun.

I had that problem just yesterday with a Dynasty Warriors game of all things. 7 has a bunch of escort mission levels in the mission mode and if you run too far away from your escortee then they get lost and sometimes they get hung up on geometry or distracted by random enemies. It kind of becomes a terrible gamble as to whether or not they'll follow you or decide to turn around and kill that one dude 50 yards away.

Why are people worried about the girl in The Last of Us? Firstly, we don't even know anything about how the game plays, and secondly, has everyone forgotten that significant portions of all three Uncharted games feature one or more AI companions? In fact, that AI was so unproblematic I think most people don't even think about it.

I haven't played all of Uncharted 2 or any of 1/3, but of course a grown adult character holding a gun who can't die isn't going to be a big deal. I think the two or three NPCs who followed me in what I did play weren't capable of death and were well armed enough to take out enemies alongside me. I think that guide in the ice cave was even mostly scripted, though I can't quite recall it.

They know what works in this very arena.

Seconding the wish that little girl plays something like Alyx from Half Life - A companion who adds to the story rather than the gameplay. On the other hand, as for her only having little girl actions, in the video she had a knife and was psyching herself up to fight.
