The SimCity 4 Rush Hour soundtrack is really excellent music and great for a little background noise when working on something else. Electronic Arts used to host the whole album as a free download, but they appear to have scrapped their SimCity website entirely. Anyway, since they gave it away for free since its release I'm assuming it's okay to post this link, and you can find the album here. Here's a good track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r02JZUg-Mm8

One I can't believe I forgot to mention... I can't really speak for the sequel since I haven't played it but Shenmue had a great soundtrack which isn't surprising as one of the main composers was Yuzo Koshiro (i.e. Streets of Rage, Ys and other stuff). There's really nice orchestral pieces, really nice vaguely ambient songs for wandering around, lots of good action music, catchy stuff and music that sounds intentionally dated and done on old synthesizers and such to go with the 1980s setting. A few weeks ago, I was led to the work of someone named Tim Follin. He was very active in the late 80's and early 90's and wrote some nifty jams. I'm picturing a meeting with investors where someone asks "can't someone just use $1 worth of pencil and paper for this and play normally? Why would they drop $50 or whatever?" and the producer responds "we've got this guy... he writes amazing music" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bWV2kC8ZG4 In terms of newer stuff, the Humble Bundles have been a nice source of game music. Azruelli posted:Ok, when you say "remix album" do you mean any kind of official LP or something done by a dedicated group (Like many of the free remixed OSTs done by OCR) or anything done by an official composer? The example you gave was a group of works done by Nobuo Uematsu, So I'm guessing the former. Yeah, I mean official remix albums. Stuff from OCR would fall under the fan remix category. So stuff like the NieR tribute album - Echo would be okay, since it was officially commissioned (even though the artists for Echo had nothing to do with the original NieR). Speaking of which, go listen to Echo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nSOp6B4WL8

Mega Man Dump Incoming On the topic of remakes: Capcom released 2 albums during their Mega Man 20th anniversary celebration for the first 6 mega man games. One album was techno based, the other rock based. I found most of the songs to be really well redone, and picked out my favorites.
