I said come in! posted:Yaaay! Turn-10 came through. The Alfa, Country Squire, Covair, 312, and did I mention the Alfa? All in one car pack? Fantastic! It seems Turn 10 has learned a quite a bit about making great car packs, especially since the first several in F3 were crap. Every one in F4 so far has had a great mix of cars for nearly everyone.

I made a thing for YF19pilot in return for his Project82 car that was sent to me. I think it's purdy - a sort of tribute to the car he sent me, combined with one of my custom paintjobs. It's not a CaseFace-approved car without a Jaguar! Maniak, you should do that to every car. All of them.

I had no idea Ford had been making that station wagon for so long. My grandfather still has an 80s model with the wood panels and everything, but it looks way more dated since apparently they barely updated anything since the 60s. It really should have been an Autovista car so you could play with the fold out seats in the back.

I've no doubts that V10 and V12 cars will still exist, but they're likely going to become more the realm of top dollar hypercars and small-run specialty marques. Turbocharged V8s are lighter and can put out just as much power, and are likely cheaper to mass produce. Hell, even turbo V6 engines are to the point where they're putting out pretty respectable figures.

Wow no ACR Neon? Thanks a lot Turn 10, I guess you care about what Johnny Turnwrench thinks and not what the real racers want. I'm trading this piece of poo poo in, I can't handle being owned up and down the street by bullshit cars and the only Neon I got is the SRT-4. SHAMEFUL. Thats why I have a guilty pleasure of reading comments on touchy news pieces. Video games and news pieces involving any sort of physical violence have some of the best comments. My all-time favorite type of comment regarding Forza4/GT5 are those saying "This feels like I'm really racing and is more realistic!" and then I check out their Youtube page and they're really some 400lb guy who can't fit in a car. Like they'd know if it was real!

Fortuitous Bumble posted:Or the thing where if you befoul the end of your previous lap your next lap is dirtied as well, unless you caught the little indicator when you went a centimeter too far over the rumble-strip a good two turns before the finish line. I suspect this is to somehow prevent people from reversing a hundred feet into a runoff and taking flying starts to the lap line but it's still really annoying when I don't notice my awesome lap is dirty until it's too late to rewind. Even if you drive into your new lap with it already dirtied from the previous lap, you can still rewind into the previous lap from before the dirtying, and drive from there into your new lap which will now be clean.

I understand why would would make sense for some tracks if you can cut the last corner and then be able to get to a higher speed in the start of the next lap, but I wish it would discriminate a bit more. Why should my next lap be ruined because I went into the last corner too hot, went off and got slowed down by the dirt?

For them what's missed it: This week's race isn't "Lemons" specifically. It's "Unloved Projects". The rules are the simplest they've ever been, and 'viewer feedback' says it's the hardest ruleset to work with so far, because the ultimate goal is to promote close racing over straight up being the fastest guy of the night. Step 1 Go find yourself an "unloved project" on the internet for ~20,000 or less ($21k will prolly fly, ~25 not so much), and bring it. Step 2 Build that car using whatever combination of mods and power reduction bucket (see below) you deem necessary so it runs anywhere from a 10:35 to 10:45 standing start single lap of the 'Ring. EXCEPT: * You must use Race Weight Reduction * You must use Full Roll Cage. * You must use the Stock tire width (Big rims are OK...if you're building out a Donk) There are 4 Power Handicap Buckets to choose from: 30 pct Power (70% handicap) 55 pct Power (45% handicap) 75 pct Power (25% handicap) 100 pct Power ( 0% handicap) This will allow you to pick a car with "too much" power, and reel it in so that it fits into the theme. You also have the flexibility (if the car you would like to run is too fast) to go up one bucket (making it too slow) then add go fast parts to get it where it needs to be. Examples: Stock 175 HP Shelby Omni GLS, gutted and caged and ready to roll in the 100% bracket? Good Choice "Lameborghini" fiberglass body kit over a Pontiac Fiero built in Forza using a Lamborghini Countach LP5000, upped to 610 HP, then dropped in the 70% Power Handicap (i.e. 30% Power) bucket? Excellent choice So far, the practice laps have been a ridiculous amount of fun as we've been trying out different cars and different mods. I listed a sample '84 Ferrari GTO build a couple pages back. Most cars seem to be right in 'the zone' if they're pushing around 170-180HP in telemetry view. Light cars seem to need a little less, and cars with skinny tires seem to need a little more. We've had practice races where 6 drivers are within 1000' first to last...after 13 miles. It's glorious. I'll be opening a lobby shortly after I get home. (45min-1 hour after this post) Kenny Rogers fucked around with this message at 01:14 on Mar 1, 2012 |

Welp, here she is! http://lancaster.craigslist.org/cto/2822931548.html Yeah, it ain't got no motor, but I been workin' on a buddy's '89 Silverado and well, he ain't usin' it right now, so I figger'd "What the hell's he need a motor for?" So I yanked it out and tucked it in my brand new 'Vette! I figger'd a 350's a 350, right? Now that Silverado's got some miles on it, so I figger it's lost a couple horses here 'n' there. Probly 'bout 175 left er so. But what the hell, right? Motor's motor. Let's go git it!
