I guess after beating 1 and 3 and maybe 4 if you really really really want more DMC... you should just go back and replay 3.

Seriously. I snap-preordered 2 after playing DMC 1 and loving it. Then the game arrived from Amazon and I was so incredibly disappointed by it. All of the style and camp from 1 was utterly stripped out and replaced with a boring story and dialogue, not to mention that everything fun about the combat mechanics were changed or made worse (bullet-sponge enemies everywhere). It turned me off of the series so much that I waited until lots of reviews came out for 3 before even considering buying it.

Well, late to the party as always, but I just finished Journey. I have no idea what to say right now, except that everything everyone has said about it is completely right. I don't think I blinked more than 2 or 3 times during that whole game.

At least the trophy in Saw for purposely wasting time made fun of you for doing it. You can press L3 twice while standing still to make Sean light up a cig. Once he's got it in his hand, move to throw it away. Repeat 99 more times. It's weird that they would have a button for this, since it serves no purpose other than getting this trophy.

Its sad to say that the PS3 if you have one of the early 60/20 gig models is one of the only ways to play some last gen games. I have been really wanting to play Everything or Nothing for my Xbox, but for some dumb rear end reason the 360 doesn't support it BC. The gamecube version I hear has some hosed up controls, so that leaves the PS2 version. Also, if you want to play a non gimped version of mercenaries 1, the only version available is the PS2 one. The Xbox one is glitchy as hell when playing BC.

Fortunately, PS2 emulation is at a point where most games can be run with minimal technical difficulties. If you have a computer that can run modern games then you can run pretty much any old PS2 game at the native resolution.

I was playing Uncharted 3 some more and thinking, it does that same thing that fantasy RPGs do where your weapon is magically attached by skyhooks or something to your back when you're not using it. Man I wish I had some of those, I hate dealing with the straps and stuff on my backpack.

I ended up just skipping all the cutscenes at the end because I really needed to go to bed. I need a game that shoot mans and can split screen co-op, preferably also split-screen while playing online. What's the best? This isn't usually my cup of tea, and the last game that I played like this was COD4:MW1 and I hated it, but I have a friend that wants to get into some Real Gun Action.

So I put another hour or so into Yakuza 4 yesterday and am about to pick it up again, and now that the open-world aspect of it has become more available after the intro section, I'm enjoying it a little more. The whole hostess club aspect actually seems kind of neat, especially since I thought it sounded like a dumb fanservice-y thing when I heard it described, but it seems more personality and character-driven than anything, at least for the moment. Two questions for those who know a lot about the game: Is there a good way to earn money outside of random fights? Also, I started a side mission with a guy at the loan office who screwed up three tests I gave him and then was assigned to another part of the city that I'm supposed to check, but I forgot which part it was and can't find any hints in the game or on GameFAQs. Where should I go to wrap that bit up?

Behonkiss posted:Two questions for those who know a lot about the game: Is there a good way to earn money outside of random fights? The easiest way in the game is to play Baccarat once you have access to the casino. I can't remember if you have immediate access in 4, but it's up to the north of the map and everyone gets a sidequest to unlock it if not. You plonk down a max bet on 'draw', aim for a 1-in-10 chance of hitting, and reload if you miss. You can generally get your initial float via sidequests, but be on the lookout for a guy in a purplish striped suit and an extremely silly judge-style haircut. He's kind of a mini-boss and always drops great stuff.

So after hearing all of this praise about Journey, is it truly worth the pricetag? I've been skeptical about buying things from the PSN, but this one might be what breaks my streak. My main concern would be getting a short game that I could beat in one sitting.

Yeah, finding this guy is a treat when you're at a low level. He gives you several opportunities per encounter to level up your heat moves, and he's good for dropping cash or items that you can sell at Ebisu Pawn.

The game can (and IMO should) be completed in one sitting. The game is really, really good and there is some replay value/hidden stuff but no doubt that it is short. The experience is like no other though.
