Each of those locations you mentioned with the glowy gold doors (The fourth is Lost Izalith through the Demon Ruins, past Queelag's Domain/Chaos bonfire.) holds a boss of course. Once you defeat all four bosses, you unlock the final area. So really, it depends on how long it takes you to complete those areas. But you're mostly there!

I can't wait for my copy of Dragon's Dogma to get here. I'm pretty clean set on Magic Knight, the big blunt smashy weapons are an absolute favourite of mine and the Magic Shields look quite cool from what I've seen of them. I was worried you'd be stuck with some kind of little toothpick sword and buckler, but this doesn't seem to be the case. You can very much do a 'hulking viking warrior' look as much as a dashing mage-fencer.

As 'generic fantasy' as this setting looks, it does some things that few others I've seen seem to. It's got a diverse seeming representation of cultures! Lots of accents and skin tones actually represented in the NPCs as well, it looks like. I'm loving that - while I'm not one to go 'my immersion is ruined!' when everyone is a carbon copy, I rather appreciate the seeming effort to diversify.
Of course this is Capcom, so it's likely more awful than I know. I'll see firsthand soon!

It is inevitable!
Should Diablo or Dragons Dogma get my moneys? It's a hard one! The DD demo certainly scratched a "party of awesome warriors" itch, with combat that felt enormously heroic in a way that almost every ARPG fails at.

I made a pretty good Balthier clone. A travesty there's no sideburn options. The character creation is pretty in-depth if you fiddle with the details. Plus having both a slot for clothes and armor is loving amazing. More games need to do this. Wearing a steel breastplate makes me cringe for my nips just thinking about it.

Game gave me a smile when one of my pawn's yelled out "Tis but a flesh wound!" in the heat of battle. Reference's beaten to death, but didn't expect it from a Japanese dev.

Thanks! I think I'll try to finish the game first, before moving on to DD (who am I kidding :ohdear:...).

And for the poster above me talking about a certain game site, guess you can't spell ignorant without IGN.

I stopped caring about their game reviews a long time ago. Don't get me wrong, not hating on them, but besides their specials/exclusives/TV show reviews they ain't got much going on for me anymore.

With great power, comes great crunchability...
It really breaks up the gameplay unnecessarily. "My lord! Grab hold! I shall send you to the beast!" [Gameplay pauses and camera swoops over to focus on pawn's clasped hands]

I've just played Dark Souls, Skyrim, and a bit of Dragon Age. I don't think I can deal with another Western fantasy world, but I think I'm going to trade in Skyrim this week and get Dragon's Dogma. I've played mages recently, so I think I'll go with an Archer or a Magic Archer.

How many games have used the Stinger move anyway? Besides the DMC games I've used it in Bayonetta and Marvel vs Capcom 3.

So my David Bowie pawn seems to be going over real well.

Too well. Now his responses to victory are classified as 'arrogant.'

Wandered off the starting story path twice and decided against it after getting my rear end handed to me by bandits. To be fair, I hadn't bought any skills in a long time and bandit mages are the worst.

Oh, and a great way to kill goblins is to through a jar of oil on them. No fire needed, it's an instant kill for some reason.

If you're playing fighter/warrior, as soon as you see someone carrying around a staff or starting up a spell, you better drop everything you're doing and Blink Strike their rear end. :black101:

It's a dagger skill and it requires you to be like level five vocation or something, at the cost of ~1,300 or 1,400 DP. It doesn't immediately unlock.

Strider but they have a similar attack. My solution for one group I found on a mountain pass was to start tossing them all off the cliff. My solution to the Catacombs in Dark Souls has once again paid off in spades.

Does anyone know if the augments from mage/sorcerer for increasing magick damage also apply to the magick shield skills for Mystic Knight?

E: On second thought, considering my playstyle with Mystic Knight, I might switch back to my starting vocation of fighter for a little bit.

How important is encumbrance?

I want to sprint all over and spam attacks, so making a small character sounds ideal. But that does mean the littlest knight will be limited to light armor instead of plate? Or is that purely for loot and/or tossing dudes around?

You mean your weight limit? If you're a hoarder like me, it's pretty important. The weight levels go from Very Light, Light, Average, Heavy, Very Heavy, Overencumbered. You want to be at Light encumbrance at the worst because your movement speed will start suffering significantly at Average and above. There's an augment that increases your carrying capacity too that's useful.

Maybe we could start a second thread just for pawns/players? Everyone make one post with game name, system, and pawn name, plus relevant pawn details. We can go back and edit the post as we play and grow. That way, we can pick and choose who we friend.

Mystic knight definitely gets to wear armor--at least the same armor as a fighter, with some unique pieces like magic shields.

Get the last copy Best Buy had, get it home, go to install it... 360 makes some ugly, ugly noises and the install won't start.

So hurray, either my copy of the game is hosed in the ear or my 360 is dying. Again. For about the fourth time in a year.

Lemme kill some manticores and poo poo, god dammit! :argh:

E: Thought it might be the hard drive, but the game saves/loads just fine and plays alright without being installed. Obviously I don't want to just play from the disc, though. Anyone got any ideas?

With every piece of equipment, there's a grid of icons that represent the different classes. I don't remember all of them yet, but the ones that are highlighted denote which classes can wear what thing.

It's determined by class but Mystic Knights do indeed wear heavy armor, not robes.

Some of the class information for this game is strange. The official site and the OP here, says that Mystic Knight can only use 1h swords/maces and shields. This video http://youtu.be/5lds9KFgoZ4, shows them playing Mystic Knight with a staff and shield combo.

Does anyone with the game have the correct information for class restrictions etc?
