Your loot also automatically gets send to storage assuming you actually dismiss the pawn (and not leave it to die while running away at night or throw it off a cliff)

I'm going to start sending Pawns back with lanterns since people don't seem to realize that they can use them too.

Has anyone gone from Mage to Mystic Knight? I went from Fighter to MK, and it has been underwhelming so far. Magic Cannon is not as much damage as I had hoped. The group weapon enchants are handy though since my Mage pawn lets it drop off when it gets stuck in heal mode.

So it's totally okay to dismiss a pawn even if they have stuff in their inventory, as it'll all be deposited into item storage?

Yes, if you dismiss them at a rift stone. The only exception is if you equip gear on them. That is considered a gift so manually remove before dismissal if you want to keep the gear.

Ha, I've actually been doing this. Lanterns are fairly cheap yet nobody seems to have one on their pawn. It really helps brighten things up if everyone has one, so as thanks I let the pawn keep it once I replace them.

Are goblins and their variants forever going to be the weakest things in the game? They were already too easy to beat at level 10 and now that I'm level 28, I can tear through them like toilet paper no matter how many there are. I just beat supposedly the most powerful goblin chief in the region just as easily as any of the rest of them.

Okay yeah this game is pretty neat, I think to myself. It's fun peppering goblins with arrows, picking things up and throwing them off of cliffs.

And then I encountered the hydra in the encampment. :stare:

I am still stuck on this stupid cipher quest, can anyone give me a hint as to what the heck I'm supposed to do next? I talked to the guy at the black cat, who said he can't actually do anything. So now the game tells me to find someone 'privy' to information about such things, and talking to my pawns about the quest only says to find some courier in the fountain area. Yet, I have yet to see this mystical courier, nor is there any sort of quest marking. Love the game, but sometimes these quests drive me nuts.

Also, how screwed am I that I got gyped out of a bunch of escort quests becuase I outlvled them before doing them? I seem to have missed a bunch of them from Gransys, and I just flat out failed one from the starter town because the stupid village chief decided to run into a chimera's fireball on the way over.

Actually I had done this stage earlier, I meant after talking to the scribe who runs the black cat.

Figured it out eventually though! Apparently the courier will show up at the shop after speaking to the scribe, I just suppose the first time didn't trigger his arrival for some reason.

So far this game has exceeded my every expectation. After the first mediocre (relative to its budget, etc) reviews, I was hoping for a game a bit more fun than Amalur, but so far I am enjoying this one pretty much the same as Dark Souls, just in a slightly different way. The only problem is the cutscenes, the story the game is trying to push on me feels like it's getting in the way of MY story.

Yeah, enjoy that spell scroll suck on that egg.

What determines the items you can send back as gifts, by the way? I'm guessing it's items you have to have on your main person but haven't experimented enough to find out.

Got something good for my fighter pawn for when I switch him to warrior. drat, that was hard but rewarding. Only complaints about this game so far are the clunky menu system and annoying save system. The only thing I think would be nicer is if it had more of a diablo style loot system. Everything else is just stellar. Fights are rewarding as hell because half the time you're amazed you're still alive. The spell effects are sick. The way the night works making everything scary as poo poo is awesome. Inching your way forward in dungeons with only a tiny lantern just makes it seem like the best dungeon crawling I've experienced in a while.

Now I have to figure out how the gently caress I'm gonna get back to Gran Soren.

On a side note, I think the thing I dislike most about this game is the reload when you die. It'd feel more fitting if it was a respawn with penalties of some sort.

I think at the level, when you first get to Gran Soren the main quest you get is the Lure of the Abyss quest from Barnaby in the Pawn Guild.

There are also a couple of quest boards and wandering people walking around with side quests you can check out. I'm always wary about taking on new quests since I've been reading complains about them expiring but I have no idea what kind of time frame people are talking about.

First thing to do is definitely hit those note boards, there's one in the pawn guild and one in the inn, both pretty easy to find. You can take a bunch of <kill x of y> quests that will stay active while you're running around and killin' and such.

You can actually just go through the quarry right by Gran Soren and bypass the bandit fortress area. Not that the quarry is easy either, just shorter.

e: VVVVVVV The note boards I've found are kill quests in the pawn guild, collection quests in the alehouse, escort quests in the inn, and DLC quests (blank board, woo) are in the pawn basement

Hey, you know what's tons of fun? Letting your ophidiophobic (afraid of snakes) friend play the first hour of the game while you go eat dinner in the other room. After 20 minutes, I hear this massive "gently caress ME!" followed by my friend stomping into the room and walloping me in the arm hard enough to leave a bruise.

I guess the point of this post is: If you don't like snakes/spiders/large, ugly naked men, then you should probably avoid this game.

I think his name was Ser Berne. It was the quest you get right around the time your about to head under Gran Soren. But I think I might have found a short cut to this one too. (On the way back, lol.) Actually based on your description of the bandit fortress, I think we're talking about the same quest.

Anyone using the bow as an Assassin? What are your guys' three skills? I've got lyncean sight for sniping and pentad shot for when I need to spam arrows in hopes of hitting something, but can't really decide on a third between punctured dart(hits multiple enemies, guard breaks) and blunting arrow(poison damage). Anybody tried both out?

Also if no one's tried it yet, Lyncean sight combined with the Preemption augment (double damage against unaware foes) murders mobs and even some of the bigger creatures and lets you clear stuff out from afar. I hit a chimera in the goat head and it took off half a bar of health. Such a loving satisfying feeling and a real :hellyeah: moment.

I'm an assassin now but mostly using my sword with fighter techniques, the bow is only for long range and utility reasons. I've got burst strike, broad slash and intimate gambit for sword, and pentad shot, skewer dart and full bend for secondary. It's working really well so far.

I ran into a place where it told me only a small enough character could fit, does that mean that character has to be my main character, or can it be a pawn? Also is there anything that only big characters can do?
