What's the level range for The Shadow Keep? I'm very cautious when I take on these jobs to escort people because the last time I did that I ran into a bunch of thieves several levels higher than I was and just completely destroyed all my pawns and the person I was supposed to protect.

I'm level 26 by the way.

One of the "wyrm hunt" quests will take you to the Catacombs. Just keep progressing through the story until you get it.

Anyone know what it means when your pawn returns with no rating and some random items? Does that mean that they just died in the other Arisen's world? I was confused at first when that happened because you can't really avoid giving a rating when you're dismissing a pawn.

Also I gotta say, I am having so much fun with the Strider class that...I don't really want to switch. At the same time I'm worried that my stats might get bad later on so I'm switching to Assassin for now, but I just love Ensnare too much...:(

Striders have the most balanced stat gain in the game. Assassins dump into STR. Personally I like the strider's stat spread better.

Striders also get ensnare and master thief abilities, which other classes cannot use. Ensnare wrecks all human-ish sized enemies like saurians, undead, hobgobs, etc. Master thief lets you dig around in their pockets while your pawn bros hold them down.

There really is no reason to switch from strider if you are enjoying it.

I think the game might simulate players using your pawn because I get the random, nameless rewards pretty often. Like, 2-3 times as often as a "real" return and at pretty regular intervals. I think maybe the game does that so people playing offline can get some extra RC every once in a while, although I like your theory too.

You can only give presents as soon as you start talking to them, if you cycle into a couple of lines of dialogue the game assumes you are talking rather than gifting and the option goes away until the next time you start a conversation.

Nope, your pawn will be used any time without you doing anything. Your pawn is always instanced at least twice, one with you, and one in the rift waiting for someone to use it. Every time you sleep in the inn, the two instances are synced, that's when they gain the knowledge and stuff they got following someone else.

edit: can your pawn be in use by two different remote players at the same time?

Use the inn (sleep) to upload your pawn, use it again later to get rewards and learnin' your pawn gained elsewhere. That is all you have to do really.

Keep in mind your pawn only carries it's current equipment with it, and not any items or lanterns or anything like that when it goes to visit. Whatever it had for equip, level, and skills when you sleep is what people will see.

So make sure your pawn is good to go before you hit the bed at the inn!

I'm enjoying this game but it does a poor job of letting you know if you're going the right way. Right now I'm supposed to be finding this bandit den. And I went to the place on the map. I killed all the bandits. But it doesn't say whether or not I've completed the quest. It also doesn't tell me if I still need to be here.... So do I just wander back to town or what? No quick travel is really annoying.

I don't want them to expire before I complete them, but I also don't want to be running halfway across the country side four different times when if I'd just picked up all of them, I'd only have had to do it once.

What kind of time frame is the quest expiration thing on anyway? I saw it mentioned a few times early on in the thread, but I haven't seen any complaints about it lately so maybe it's not that bad and/or rare.

I added my pawn to the Google doc, here's hoping he gets some decent use. I built him to be pretty much all tank all the time, so here's hoping that works out.

Do pawns learn things without you sitting down in the learning chair/using rift crystal shop potions? I keep trying to get my pawn to gather more stuff, and it seeme like the frequency is slowly increasing, but I'm not sure if it's just confirmation bias or he's actually learning. Do one of the pawn commands make them gather? I feel a compulsive need to harvest literally everything I see but gently caress if I want to carry it all myself.

I have a question though:

What happens if I let the duke just keep choking the duchess? Is it possible or would he just keep choking her until you intervene?

If you go back to where she was talking to that knight, you'll find she's set up shop in that same house. It's in the lower right portion of the city, just opposite the Black Cat if you have trouble finding it again. Hopefully that helps.

Anyway, this arrived in the post yesterday and I've been toying about as a basic fighter for a bit, doing the first few quests, and it's been really fun so far. Punishing if I go anywhere near bandits, but fun. I've already got a few ranks of ranger for my pawn, and I'm switching to a mystic knight to see how that plays, but so far it's looking to be well worth the purchase.

On a related note, I also bought the black glasses but didn't realize that they take the place of headgear. If anybody wants them, or any other armor for that matter, just let me know and I'll grab your pawn and gift them to you. My GT is Rabbit Holed. I've got a lot of stuff for all sorts of classes that I've stockpiled in my deposit box.

e: one more thing. I gave a forged idol to the weapon guy in Gran Soren. Did I screw up? Nothing has changed since I've done that and I was hoping for new stock

What level are you and what quests are you on?

Based on my own experience so far my advice in this regard is to not do any of those escort quests yet, if you're having trouble. I've done two so far, and they both took me all the way across the freaking map. Admittedly I did get two good items out of them (one as a reward and the other from a chest), but I feel like I was way under leveled when I did them. And they ended up being utterly insane. I've just now gotten back to Gran Soren and started on the Wyrm hunt quest which I'm hoping are more chill.

I would definitely not do it. I don't know how long they take to expire but they are really long quests and you are going to want to go back to Grand Soren to resupply in between anyways.

Did you do what I did, ignoring all side quests until you reached Gran Soren, then wondered why everything was giving you a red-rear end beatdown? Yeah, there's a few things you can do around town, but most of it will either cost you money or put you up against poo poo that you probably aren't in the right level range for.

My suggestion? Head back to the starting town. Dick around there for awhile. There's stuff to be done. Not to say it's that much easier, the game will always have that Dark Souls-esque 'I will kick your rear end and gently caress you if you haven't saved recently' air about it, but it'll give you some easy levels.

Also, gear and skills are important! If you don't have the funds for either, make a few walks between the starter town and Gran Soren if none of the quests you have is doable. Beef your guys up, get some pawns out of mothballs around your current level, and keep plugging away. Eventually things will start clicking into place.
