Question: When I did the Madeline first escort quest, I didn't give her the 1k gold (because I didn't have it on me!) am I screwed out of her entire questline now? =(

So. I met my first dragon when I'm doing the first quest for the wyrm hunt. The dragon is wrecking my party something fierce and I'm trying to run away, but I also have an impromptu quest called "Ambush" where all these goblins and hobgoblins are loving my poo poo up. Doesn't help that the dragon turns my pawns against me No Mercedes! Don't attack me! I'm your friend.

I spent a couple hours trying to do that Mercedes escort with no healing because I'm dumb, all because I wanted that sword reward that sells for like 100k. I never got it, I got some shield instead. My pawn can use it but I really could use that cash

Man, actually fighting the red dragon is seriously grueling. It goes pretty quick when you get it to actually stagger and can wail on the heart, but sometimes it took a full life bar of plinking at the heart before it would collapse. But those rewards? Awesome. Great weapons for (I'm assuming) whatever class you are. Auto-dragonforged gear.

Post-game question: Am I supposed to do some leveling before fighting the Everfall bosses? I seem to be getting wrecked by them at level 46.

Anybody done the Wyrmking's Ring quest? I'm thinking about making a forgery and turning that in, but that seems like it might backfire pretty bad if it doesn't work. Is the ring worth keeping if I plan to give it to my sorcerer pawn? Does it work as advertised?

Are there any quest items where making a forgery is the better way to go? So far I haven't seen any

The Fighters carry extra weight perk is a godsend and I advise everyone to pick it up. I am now in comfortably light weight, when before with all my equipment I struggled between average/heavy all the time. I move so much faster now

Holy smokes this game is fun! I'm really liking the combat, it's cool the way things sort of shudder when you hit them, there's a nice feeling of impact. Playing as a mage with a super old fighter as my main pawn (Bavmorda for those looking to hire a dusty old soldier), I only wish there were bigger beards for characters.

So I accept the quest Duchess in Distress and it failed automatically. Anyone know what gives there? Why would the game let me do it if it's unavailable now?

Is there some way to revive Quina if you didn't do the quest to rescue her? I have a wakestone but I can't find her body.

Added my pawn to the document. Ended up with Saber, because why not. Although it has been a while since I synced. Probably not much use right now haha.

Spoiler about the trial: I gave all of the acquittal notes as well as a forged affidavit for innocent, then discarded everything else. He was still found guilty. So much for options... but I guess that saves some thought because it doesn't matter what choice you make

So I have a few questions... Does the magick archer ever really get good bow skills? I'm job level 7 with it right now I've yet to get one that's really effective. The utility of flare is nice, but otherwise the class seems pretty lackluster. I guess that's the price you pay for having a jack of all trades Mage/archer/strider. On the way to the goblin infestation the the keep on the west side of the map, are you supposed to run into a griffon? Just as I left the main city a guard announced a supply caravan was arriving and was being attacked by goblins. About 2 minutes into the fight a loving griffon swoops down for a pass or two, the just peaces out and flies away. Either this game is brilliant at world building, or the developers are terrible at placing triggers in the game.

So yeah, did anyone figure out if going to see the duke cancels ALL your quests, or just the main line ones?

/\/\ Not sure about story quests but it definitely doesn't cancel all of them. My notice board quests stayed as they were.Teeter posted:Spoiler about the trial: Trial spoiler: There's a guy in windbluff castle (the one slightly north of gran soren) that will come back with you to the capital to be a witness for Fournival. I brought him back and gave all the acquittal notes/forgeries and he was found innocent. Similarly, there's a dude in Cassardis who will come back with you and vouch for Fournival's guilt, although why you would ever bother with that seems beyond me.

I think if you can do enough damage the griffin will stick around for a fight. Unrelatedly, I found out that you can click in the left stick the switch to manual aim mode for spells.

I am kinda surprised people are having trouble with ranger, it seems like the hands down most powerful class I've used so far. Ranger protip: HEADSHOTS ARE VERY IMPORTANT. When i get a shot on a bandits leg, he barely flinches and takes what seems to be 10%~ish of his health. When I hit him in the head he goes flying backwards, takes 40-60% of his health, and usually lands prone with his head facing tword me. If I can't kill something in one hit, I can usually just skip it across the ground until it dies with no chance of it getting up. With the weird machinegun arrow skill (I forgot what it was called) and the scatter arrow skills I haven't actually run into anything yet that I can't effectively kill. I used comet shot to snipe out a Cyclops' eye and took off 80% of an entire health bar, and that was only at level 26ish. Rangers get destroyed in melee though, go Strider/Assassin if you want to use daggers to do anything important.

If anyone is still looking for sour ambrosial meat for the quest, I found some in the Quarry northwest of Gran Soren, before the first ogre, hidden in a box I smashed. May have been a random drop, but it's something.

Finally made some decent progress (after three restarts; I'm so picky about my Pawn's look ). I got to Gran Soren, then headed back to the starting village to do the well quest and got a few more sidequests while I was there. I'm playing as a Strider now, but I'm thinking about going Magic Archer with a Warrior-two-handed-sword sidekick; I'm guessing the best plan is to grab as many Strider and Mage skills as I can first? I added my Gamertag (FistfulOfDice) and Pawn (Masamune, Fighter) to the spreadsheet so everyone can laugh at how generic he is.

I'm really digging the mage/sorcerer. I haven't given any time to strider/ranger, but dammit if I don't love laying down some massive damage with my caster. Added in the augment that makes explosive spells more explosive and watch everything fly when you lay down a flame wall. I've got a bag hat to give out to someone (Incognito something or another). Just waiting for the right pawn to come along for that.

The three fold arrow does a ton of damage, and also tends to knock the target waaaay back - handy for keeping guys away. (and those are the skills you all but start with, even) I haven't found 3/6 fold arrow to be that strong, half the time it dies less damage than the default attack. Is there a way to do headshots ala ranger with the magic bow? The auto tracking seems to get in the way

I'm loving this game but I'd like to play with more varied pawns. I'm JustPlainLucky on PSN. My pawn is a support mage, but he might be rocking either the magic shield or magic arrow soon. His name is Nipples. Edit: Also if anyone needs a REALLY smart warrior guy check out my friend's pawn. His PSN ID is Taud22 and his pawn will be manhandling goblins in ways you've never even dreamed of. WeakLad fucked around with this message at 05:08 on May 25, 2012 |

Speaking of which, what all can you spend rift currency on, besides higher leveled pawns? I have about 40k sitting in my bank and nothing to spend it on. Perhaps and upgraded magic bow? Also, are the any other vendors in the game besides the main city and starting village? I've just gone through a couple of the main story quests so far so I don't know if there's another city that come in later

You can get special skin tones and eye pigments among other things. He also sells an item that lets you alter your arisen and pawn's appearance once, and in the post-game you can buy an item that lets you alter your appearance an unlimited amount of times. You can find him at the inn near the stone. To edit your appearance you have to do it through the main menu after buying the metamorphosis item.
