Finally platinum'd this. It's an awesome game, I just wish it wasn't so weird about timing with sidequests. The biggest issue is that there's a sidequest not listed in the doc or the guide! If anyone is curious: They actually give you from near the beginning of the game until the fight with the dragon, which is nice. Keep buying and selling from Reynard (the merchant who travels around different areas of the map) and he'll ask for scrap iron. Give it to him, buy and sell some more, and he'll ask for Miasmite. Buy and sell some more (you may also have to wait at least 24 hours after giving him Miasmite) and you get the final part of his quest, which is getting all 6 of the journal entries to him. I really hope for some expansion-style DLC from this. The dungeons in this game are way more interesting than Gransys itself so I hope they're more designed like those.

Holy poo poo this game. Most games you come to a dead end and there's no way around. This one, you come to a locked door and you just look for a wall you can climb up or a gap you can leap and sequence break that poo poo. Game doesn't care!

I was wondering about that. I got the very first part of that quest literally at the very end of the game just before I went in to fight the dragon. I figured it was related to the Journal Entries since they mention him, but couldn't get any of the later steps so I could never figure out how to hand them in.

Have I screwed myself out of getting the quest line with the Duchess? After my first meeting with the Duke I triggered the convo with the Chancellor at the castle gate before going to talk with her. The game auto saved after that and she's nowhere to be seen now.

Best sequence breaking is to do with double jumping your way around corners to completely bypass gates. A good example's the Everfall at the start of the game, there's a gate or two you have to just go a little out of the way for but gently caress that poo poo, just double jump out and around the corner and you'll get past it.

Second Journal Entry** In the Catacombs, Second Level Underground Third Journal Entry** In Gran Soren, you have to climb up on top of the roofs and find a spot where you can drop down into the roof. It's NW of the Black Cat. Fourth Journal Entry**"Barta Crags" Area Near Miasmic Haunt. This is South of The Great Wall. Fifth Journal Entry** Soulflayer Canyon First Floor Final Journal Entry** Ancient Quarry, It's pretty much in the middle of the map. If you entered from the North side, its in the big area before you get to the "Switch" Just NE of the "Lever" Icon.

My main pawn has been hired out at least six times, and he regularly comes back with gifts from other players. However, I have yet to receive any ratings or comments. Do I have to toggle an option on or something to allow comments and ratings or something? Also, I maxed out strider and now I guess I should switch vocations for the augments. If I'm enjoying the thief style of play where I shoot things with my bow and then dodge around stabbing everybody, should I go ranger or assassin? Seems like ranger will lack the close combat fun, and the assassin will lose the ranged. In any case, I'll probably end up doing both. Which would be better first considering augments?

Your pawn isn't being hired, the game is just pretending that they are. If your pawn is actually hired you're shown who hired them/how many RC you got/your rating on an info screen.

A lot of reviewers are comparing this game to Skyrim, but doing stuff like this in the game (along with the pretty limited though fairly detailed landmass) reminds me more of a Japanese Gothic game. Also, people should be hiring Sankis more I need sweet, sweet RC. He's a two handed warrior dwarf with a mohawk and silver glasses! What's not to love?

Is it just based on where you are in the story, or if you've finished another quest? Has anyone used my Pawn Shelley? If so is she terrible, or not? I would like some feed back on whether she is decent or not. I didn't pay enough attention to who hired her the first few times to have any concept on how she was performing. Some goon reviews would be helpful (obviously if you are within her level range which is 43ish). OP I think adding in a goon rating system to the pawn spreadsheet would be okay. Even if it's just based on the last goon that used it. Seems Gnome Chompensky would likely hold "best pawn" award atm. Refind Chaos fucked around with this message at 04:55 on May 31, 2012 |

I actually had a big thing written up about how the quests generally are after big things happening (IE meeting the duke), but there are quite a few that are really weird time frames. Give me a couple hours and I'll have a list of quests needed for The Hero and when they unlock. I'll include when they fail if I know.

I just got a nice big list of people that rented my pawn and a couple decent gifts (and a skull), that's not so unusual. What is weird is that about an hour later I got the exact same list of gamertags and the same loot. Yay for double rift crystals I guess and hooray for what is a weird glitch actually paying off in my favor. I just finished up going to the Great Wall for the first time and was that the point where the Dragon was supposed to run off with my love interest? I ask because an NPC back in the starting town mentioned that it was sad that my love had been taken, but the two people it's likely to be are Madeleine (who already got kicked from Gran Soren, I wish she would pop back up like she said she would, I didn't buy all the unique stuff she had beforehand) and the Duchess who got all kissy with me during her rescue and then got carted back to her homeland by a bunch of her guards who apparently don't approve of her taste in female Sorcerers. Was that NPC just on crack and the abduction or whatever it is happens later? Or, does your "love interest" being out of the picture just make it so no-one gets taken?

He's the traveling merchant that you have the option of saving when you first leave Cassardis to go to the encampment and see him under attack from 3 goblins. He'll either be at one of the camps or in fountain square walking around/standing outside the inn. He's got a big merchant's backpack on his back.

If you haven't finished the quests that you get after meeting the Duke, you might be able to locate Reynard easily: I think he gets an objective marker for one of those quests (Trials and Tribulations).

Alright, this should be everything. Let me know if I missed anything. From Beginning: (most of these fail when you leave for Gran Soren) Floral Delivery: Talk to Benita in Cassardis. Grim Tidings: Talk to Elvar in Cassardis Lost Faith: Talk to Father Clemente at the church in Cassardis Search Part: You have until you go fight the dragon to do this one. Keep buying and selling with Reynard (the merchant who travels everywhere) until he asks you to get something for him. Do this again. Then one more time and he will ask you for the six journal entries. After going to Encampment: An Uninvited Guest: Cassardis. Talk to Pablo, the innkeeper. Deep Trouble: Talk to the Poll next to the well in Cassardis. Guard Duty: Talk to Madeliene in Cassardis Lost and Found: For this one, you have to beat the Hydra at the encampment first (I would do it before leaving for Gran Soren to be safe, though it may not expire until meeting with the duke), talk to Adoro in Cassardis. After reaching Gran Soren (some will need you to complete "A Matter of Myrmidons" first): A Troublesome Tome. Steffen in Gran Soren. Should be available until you go fight the dragon. Chasing Shadows: Talk to Mason in Gran Soren. Dying of Curiosity: Talk to Merin in Cassardis Land of Opportunity: Talk to Fournival in Gran Soren Reaper's Scorn: Talk to Austine, who is across from the pawn guild in Gran Soren. After meeting the duke (some require you to take one of Adolus' quests, though you don't need to do any): An Innocent Man: Talk to Tomlin in Cassardis. Arousing Suspicion: get it from Mirabelle somewhere around the castle. I believe you can only get this if you go up to her after meeting the duke when the camera brings her to your attention. Idol Worship: Talk to Caxton ("They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong!) in Gran Soren. Nameless Terror: Take the south exit from Gran Soren. There will be a guard with this quest. Supplier's Demand: Madeline in her shop. Supply and Demands: Talk to Ser Dario at Windbluff Tower The Conspirators: Talk to Fedel, upstairs in the castle (usually in the Duke's Solar) Witch Hunt: You'll overhear people talking about it in Fountain Square in Gran Soren, then the quest will pop up. After receiving gifts from the Duke (do these before leaving for "Deny Salvation"): Bad Business: Go to Madeline's shop Duchess In Distress: Talk to Mirabelle around the castle Rise of the Fallen: Talk to Ser Maimillian (the guy who gave you the quests before meeting the duke) in Gran Soren. I believe you have to do his quest for investigating a cult to get this. Do all 4 of those quests he offers to you before seeing the duke just to be safe. Special ones: A Talent In Bloom: Talk to Quina at the Abbey. This one is weird. It will definitely pop up a few days after you escort Quina to Prayer Falls but she will appear at the Abbey whether you do so or not and some people have gotten this quest without escorting her. The escort quest appearing at the Cassardis inn isn't always consistent for me, but its always been some time after meeting the duke. A Parting Gift: Talk to Clarus at the Abbey a day or two after doing "Talent In Bloom" Deeper Trouble: One week after finishing "Deep Trouble", go back to the well at Cassardis. Escort Duty: Talk to Fournival in Gran Soren after finishing both "Chasing Shadows" and "Land of Opportunity" Farewell, Valmiro: Not actually sure when this unlocks. The guide has it listed as an escort quest. Check in with Valmiro in Cassardis after meeting the Duke and then after getting rewards from the Duke. Should appear one of those times. May have to do "Dying of Curiosity" for it to appear. Mettle Against Metal: After "Witch Hunt". In the Witchwood (the part that opened up after Witch Hunt), there will be some golems lying around. One of these is a Metal Golem. Walk up to it to start this. No Honor Among Thieves: After doing "An Uninvited Guest", you'll see Pike (the thief) walking around Cassardis. Talk to him and he will mention he has given up thieving. Go to the Ruins of Aernst Castle and talk to Maul to get this quest. The Dragon's Tongue: Some time after completing "Witch Hunt", go back to the tombstone in the Witchwood and there should be a tablet there. Thick as Thieves: Talk to the leader of the female bandits in Ruins of Heavenspeak Castle. Available until you go fight the dragon. Also make sure you and all your pawns are either female or dressed as such or you will be attacked on sight. Also make sure to do all four of the quests to meet the duke instead of just doing two. Apropos of not much, does giving gifts to NPCs do much (outside of quest-essential stuff). It might have been coincidence but I gave a merchant a gift and right afterwards he had a few new items in stock.

Some merchants stock new items when you reach a certain relationship point with them. Most NPCs are just there to be potential romance options though. So if you want to get hitched with the filthy beggar in Gran Soren's slums, by all means.

I did a lot of exploring/fighting in the overworld postgame before going down there. My party is an assassin (myself, bow + daggers), my warrior pawn, a mage pawn for healing, and church of raven's sorceress pawn. Is there some trick to getting the barrier down? It seems to be always up and I guess I'm not doing enough damage while it's down to stagger it? Hitting the eye is kind of obvious but the only time I can get any significant amount of damage done is when it's eating someone, and of course I'd prefer it not to be eating someone too much, I can only bring so many curatives.

I just kept shooting magic at it when the barrier was up. I didn't think it was doing anything but maybe hitting the barrier makes it go down faster? You could try to lure it into eating you and when you dodge it gets stuck in the ground, letting you attack it.
