Is there some trick to getting the barrier down? It seems to be always up and I guess I'm not doing enough damage while it's down to stagger it? Hitting the eye is kind of obvious but the only time I can get any significant amount of damage done is when it's eating someone, and of course I'd prefer it not to be eating someone too much, I can only bring so many curatives.

Bait it in to charging or trying to eat you, and smack its eyeball. You can cancel its charge with the smacking and you can dodge the eating attempt before its eyeball is revealed.

The one that always gets me is the one inside his hand.

The one on the bottom of the foot is easy to get as long as you plan ahead - he'll always fall over after you break the orb on his knee, and usually when you break the one on his head, too. If you don't know its there or don't get to it in time and it's left as the last one, then, uh...

Well I don't know. I guess if you have a ranged attack of some sort try to hit it when he lifts his foot to step? Kind of a pain but I don't know what else. He's not vulnerable to damage at all on his body so you're not going to make him fall over.

Also, another question about the evil eye: Why is there even a QTE to get out of his eating attack? It seems impossible to complete and I always either get freed by a pawn or chewed on to 1 health. I don't think he can actually kill you with it so it's not a big deal as long as you have curatives to use right after, but, like... come on.

I managed to kill the first (and so far only) golem I found by basically getting behind it, and hitting its foot with my daggers nonstop. Sometimes when it picked it up to make a step I got some hits in even if it didn't look like I should have.

This is a really fantastic game. I'll really be looking forward to starting an entirely new game when I have proper internet and making proper support Pawns. What would be the most popular Pawn to summon, a support Mage or an in-your-face, balls-to-the-wall warrior who gives naught fucks? As far as I know Sorcs are overdone and no-one wants a Ranger Pawn? Also looking through the thread, I remember seeing someone mentioning someone elses Pawn throwing a whole bunch of living enemies off cliffs. How does one manage to encourage their pawn to do so? Clearly, throwing enemies off cliffs is the best part of the game. Or grappling a Chimera or Ogre near a cliff and riding them to the bottom. :getin:

Yea, pretty much as I hit my third golem, I made sure to get to his hand way before he enrages, then try to leave the easiest ones on his back for when he's mad.

Normal golems I found to be pretty easy. I save the chest and head for last, since he always seems to rage after he recovers from being frozen.

The one that gets me is Metal Golem, mostly because the only time I fought him, my only ranged damage was my main character as a Magic Archer, and there's one medallion that you have to hit with physical arrows. Spent thirty minutes trying to hit that before I gave up.

Is there more than one metal golem in the world? The only one I've found is in Witchwood, and while it took me forever to find the last few spots, I didn't need to hit any with arrows (though, granted, I did hit them ALL with arrows because I happened to be using a bow at the time, I just didn't notice NEEDING to, they were all on the ground somewhere).

The medals might randomly spawn, then. I just know that one of the medals in my game appeared on a branch of that tree in the stream, and nobody could reach it with melee attacks.

I don't think there's another one in the world, but I assume it respawns in a few days like everything else in this game that isn't a boss.

So, an interesting bug happened to me...

I'd decided that I'd missed to many quests with my dude so I wanted to start over. That guy was around 45th or so. I started a new game, deleting my old game in the process. I get up to the point of creating my main pawn and after I made him I rested. Surprisingly it told me that my pawn had returned from service or whatever and I got about 40k+ in rift points and he learned a huge amount of stuff about monsters, quests and locations.

What I figure happened was some people had my old pawn out and it just applied it to my current pawn since it's account based and not pawn based or something.

Of course, none of this helped me in my game at all. But it was still interesting.

This was the first post-game big monster I faced, and honestly I ran around its back while my pawns were doing random poo poo to it. Each time it stopped being invincible (which was fairly often) I stabbed at its tentacles and usually managed to get some off. After I murdered all the tentacles it became prone to damage and I murdered the eye part of it, and from there it died really quick. I don't think any of my pawns even died, they were kinda just doing whatever as I whacked on it.

I think the hardest chamber I've been to yet is one with a chimera, a gore-chimera, and one of those lich-things, and a bunch of hellhounds. I think that's what it contains. I thought the arch-hydra was hard but drat. This I just gave up after a few tries because poo poo's killing you from every angle.

I had this problem, too. One of the amulets spawned as if on top of a tree branch, but the tree itself wasn't solid, so I couldn't jump onto the limb to hit it. Furthermore, after awhile the amulet moved somehow and was basically just floating there up in the air.

However, I did manage to win the fight. Turns out the Metal Golem himself can cause quite a lot of damage to the amulet by flailing around, so I kept jumping on him and trying to lead him to do that. I even managed one leap off the golem that let me hit the amulet myself with a midair swing. Eventually, though, he killed himself in spectacular fashion.

Yeah that one's brutal. Kill the Lich first, that'll stop the Hellhounds from respawning, then kill them, and then finally the Chimeras. You could also try jumping on one of the chimeras and at least killing the tails/goats, but I kept getting knocked off, at which point the hellhounds would gangrape me. Also you have to constantly revive your pawns otherwise everything focuses on you.

Does anybody know how staggering works? I've been a Strider up to rank 6 before switching to a Ranger up to max rank, and recently swapped with my main pawn so I'm a Fighter and he's a Strider, so we can get some different augments. I'm taking way more hits than I did as a Ranger, which I assume Freighter S. just dealt with. But it seems like if you get hit even once you're basically hosed until the enemies decide to let up because your invincibility frames end before your ability to do anything returns.

I'm using pretty close to the best armor available at the moment, so that doesn't seem to matter much. I am size S, but it seems unlikely that being just one size below average would make a goblin's weakest attack cause a stagger. I've yet to die since I switched but I can definitely see this being a problem down the line, since it likes to randomly point the shield in the wrong direction and then there's nothing you seem to be able to do after getting hit once. Maybe I'm just too used to the dodge roll by now, but poo poo, I don't even know how you're supposed to play Warrior since you don't even have a shield. Not that I'm likely to try that unless Fighter shows a lot more promise.

There are two stats that sound very similar ("knockdown resistance" and "stagger resistance" or somesuch) in the Status list which would appear to act like Poise in Dark Souls, but raising them doesn't seem to help.

I also have a green pawn (I didn't dress him up any differently, and went with the "orc" explanation), and have gotten 5 star appearance ratings ever since. I have seen lots of pawns with non-standard hair and facepaint, but only a single one with non-standard skin, and it was the cheap red skin on a pawn named "demon girl" wearing a thong and bra. Actually looked pretty cool.

I dunno if people are saving up for lovely glasses/rings or what but nobody seems to want a cool-colored pawn.

I have enough for the purple dye and keep debating about trying it out. With the green dye at least you can go "that, sir, is an orc" and be content, but purple... I dunno. He'd look like a guy that got painted purple. I'm not huge into RP or anything but there's a point where you're just throwing goofy poo poo out there and kind of ruining the atmosphere.

Note that this is also the place where you buy the potions that change your pawn's inclination/behavior, so definitely find the guy ASAP when you start a new game. The potions are like 250RC each so even if no one's rented your pawn you can get enough RC to set him how you want relatively quickly.

X Experience Points = Y Discipline Points = Z Job Points.

So, you get them from gaining experience, which also levels you up and ranks you up. So a combination of them both, but it's really moreso that you rank up by getting discipline points as opposed to the other way around.

There's a lot of other "intangible" stuff that carries over into NG+ besides just your inventory. Shopkeeper inventories will still be at their post-game level (making it possible to have both the Blacksmith and Madelaine have their gold idol inventories at once), NPCs you maxed affinity with will still be maxed out (making it a real crapshoot for who gets kidnapped later on). Someone earlier said that portcrystals get dumped back into your storage but I'm pretty sure that the one portcrystal I placed on my first game is still there in my NG+.
