You'll be surprised how well Japanese takes care (or cleans up) their games! Just about every used game I have ever picked up in Japan almost looked like it was in perfect condition.

Yeah. I heard the reason is that buyback rates for near mint games in Japan is so good, some people just buy the games, keep them in perfect condition, then sell them as opposed to renting them.

It's because they buy them from Super Potato who only sell mint used games. There are a million places to buy used games in Japan in awful condition. How many times have we seen a cartridge with someone's name written on it on the show?

I'm not sure why you guys think the games are like new or mint or whatever, they look like they're in standard used (good) condition. If you look at the pictures at the end of the challenge when they mention giving away the games, you can see normal signs of wear. It's pretty normal for used games to be in good condition, or rather, good enough so they don't look bad on these cameras. In my experience, the difference between a typical used, boxed game between the US (usually poor) and Japan (usually quite good) is striking. Books tend to be the same way, and I'm sure this applies for many other goods as well. Obviously you'll get worn copies with graffiti and all sorts of wear (especially Famicom carts--they're easy to scratch) but I wouldn't say that's typical. Ahaha, unfortunately I didn't check the events before going, so I ended up going yesterday - a completely Arinoless endeavor. I did however run into Tanii and one of the more recent ADs (whose name I don't actually know) in a hallway! I got Tanii's autograph and he made fun of the AD, all like "Amazing, even this guy knows me. And he doesn't even care about your autograph! I'm barely even on camera." the AD just kept saying "sugoi." over and over. I also spoke to Producer Kan as he rung up my EXTRAVAGANT PURCHASES and told him I'm a big fan of the show, and he got all smiley and asked where I was from and how I learned about the show etc. I told him that zari-gani introduced me to it (true in a roundabout way..) and he got a big smile and asked me to give her his regards! so... REGARDS FROM PRODUCER KAN, ZARI-GANI. and apologies for awkwardly namedropping you B) yoroshikus all around. my haul.... I've lurked this thread for a while now but decided to post, partly just to thank the team for the hours of free entertainment this show has given me. So kudos, SA-GCCX Team. On topic though, we have a Famicom and some games here at home that my wife bought before we were together. I have to say that while they are in decent enough shape, I wouldn't necessarily say they are in any better shape than a typical used game I would buy here. One of the games actually does have what I assume is a name written on it, but given that I have basically zero understanding of Japanese, I have no idea what it actually says. edit: ^ Completely jealous of your haul, Arinoless visit or not. Wish I could make it out there sometime.

Definitely want keychain, if funds are okay interested in raglan sleeve t-shirt or hoodie but curious how sizing runs in those because Japan tends to size way smaller than the US does. Can Paypal or something pretty much immediately.
