Making warps out of nowhere, killing diddy and shooting dixie through the air. He's about to race another speedrunner I believe.

Does anyone happen to have the link to the twitch video of Super Mario 64 where the run fails due to bad luck with a Bob-omb and the runner says "uh oh... UH OH!... UHHH OOHHHH!!!"? In all fairness at least half those runs didn't even last 30 seconds, and most weren't more than a couple minutes.

Pretty impressive, still. I remember ZFG getting his OoT 21:45(?) after about 300 attempts. There's pretty much no way for an OoT attempt to be less than 3 minutes, cause of the intro, for what it's worth. brap fucked around with this message at 06:22 on Nov 8, 2012 |

Kjoery posted:W-why are people so insistent on speedrunning quest64? Why?!? In practically every regard it is a terrible choice of game. Why not run something that's actually fun? Why choose a really grindy RPG? Why do this to yourself? WHY. Not only is a 2 hour speedrun not all that grueling, the any% run of quest actually fixes pretty much every casual criticism of the game. People hated getting lost all the time, but we know where to go. People hated being weak as hell unless you grind a ton, but we know where to dump our stats. And I'm not even biased when I say the battle system is insanely more fun than any JRPG despite only 4 spells being cast in battle the whole time, since positioning matters both for avoiding enemy spells and aiming your own.

Competition for the Mega Man 10 world record is heating up between Duckfist and Usedpizza. Usedpizza finished a 35:26.35 run today that gained 10 seconds in the Wily 4 stage to put it within less than a second of Duckfist's 35:26.18 (or 35:25 depending on timing) run that overcomes a 10 second deficit it had going into the first Wily stage to become the current record. It's pretty difficult to get the times much lower, but should make for an interesting watch over the next few days if they get into it.

^^ beaten to my own time I got the Mega Man 10 World Record!! 35:25. Actually, the insane part is that it's a tie. Duckfist also got 35:25 a few days ago. So we both got the same world record in the same week. Crazyness. He's technically faster by .35 seconds. I made this image comparing the frames Wily was killed. But I'll be damned if I'm not considering that a tie. You can watch my run at the following link if you want. The only recording is my stream recording so it has my dumb commentary, be warned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV4iTeEc13w

If so wouldn't it make tenths of seconds / hundredths of seconds hard to compare considering how long it might take to reach over and smack the stop key?

There could be some discrepancy at the start as well but probably not much.

I see Cosmo, Funkdoc, and other big name runners using a plugin that has a stopwatch for specific parts in their games, for instance for Banjo Kazooie last night Cosmo had a stopwatch timer thingie for the completion of every level. Is that a plugin or just something they jury rig themselves? If it's a plugin, where could I get it? And is it possible at all to use my iPhone's camera as a secondary camera in my stream using the official Justin/twitch.tv app or no? Ridiculous question, I know, but it's worth asking.

Welp, the Gain Ground TAS I'd been working on for a few months is now finished with an 11:40.57 clear time. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of submitting it right after they changed their acceptance policy to allow for any record-setting runs to be accepted even if the game was terrible, so it's mixed in with something like 140 runs (of bad games) exhumed from the rejection list.
