Captain Walker posted:Way of the Samurai 4 chat: What carries over between playthrus? Weapons and styles you had equipped stay equipped. Everything else, including styles and money, get put into the dojo's storage. You'll have to take over the dojo again - if you recruited Sensei, this will require beating her in a duel - but you can access the storage whether the dojo is yours or not. The current state of the Hospital, School and Casino will be remembered, and you'll actually need them to be in a certain layout to reach the True Ending. If you recruited Dojima he'll still be at his job. The four Job NPCs are reset, and they're the single best way to get money. Do as many Thiefcatcher and Gramps jobs as you easily can for more Samurai Rating - that means a better rank and more BP at the end of the game. Finally, your previous incarnation can be found strolling around town, and will aggro on you if you have your sword out. Kill them for a trophy!

Hey, the Two Towers and Return of the King movie hack and slash games were pretty fantastic. But yes, I just finished the demo and I need to play this game. LEGO games have really gotten good it seems. The addition of voice acting makes it much better, and there is something wonderful about having the serious lines from the movie accompanied by some LEGO critters mugging in the background, it's an affectionate light-parody of the events. Totally buying the gently caress out of this when I have the cash for it.

I've never played more than 10 minutes of any of the Lego games, perhaps I should give them a decent shot someday. Writing Lord Of The Rings on my backlog list right now.

Having played all of the Lego games, I'd say play one of the first two Star Wars ones first, Harry Potter years 1-4 second, and then Lego Batman 2. It isn't required, but I say you hit all the highlights if you follow my list.

Stare-Out posted:GameTrailers gave it a pretty high score and said it's indeed the best LEGO game so far. The gameworld is streamed without loading so you can pretty much walk from The Shire to Mordor (one does walk there after all) if you so choose. The world isn't huge per se, but is extremely varied and faithful to the films. The humor is really charming and the gameplay is great. It even looks fantastic and takes great advantage of the license. I can't wait to play the console version after plating the Vita version. It was alright for what it is but it really does lose something without the open-world and other content. E: Just remembered, I'm getting Lego Batman 2 today. Maybe by the time I 100% that game, there will be a holiday sale on LOTR. iastudent fucked around with this message at 16:01 on Nov 29, 2012 |

Any word on how bad the US PS+ freebies are going to be for December? Last update was a giant commercial urging us to buy a Playstation Vita, and now we find out EU subscribers are getting Arkham City, Vanquish, and two decent looking PSN exclusive titles. The EU PS+ to US PS+ freebies exchange rate seems to be pretty insulting so I'm kind of expecting some ludicrous bungle for the holidays, like, as a PS+ subscriber all my account/credit info was stolen again, or lost, or misfiled and unfortunately shredded then burned as waste. Just auto-resubbed for another year, and the awesome EU titles announced is like an extra kick in the teeth. Welp here's to renting Just Cause 2 for another 12 months.

Sure, EU PS+ is pretty awesome for PS3 games, but I'd much rather have the US lineup for the Vita. I've noticed that some new games on the PSN store are horrendously overpriced, like Need for Speed: Most Wanted costing £60 and DmC costing £50. First party games like Playstation All-Starts and LBP Karting are £40, which is equivalent to a $60 game without any tax at all. Oddly enough, in retail most games have an RRP of £50, but are always sold at £40 new.

That makes me remember a question I've been meaning to ask - what's the flat out easiest game to plat? Isn't it some Hannah Montana thing? I guess for the sake of discussion "easy" means least effort/time/difficulty, or fewest trophies maybe. DX:HR was probably my "easiest" plat so far, just because I really got into it and didn't have too hard a time with the stealth, and enjoyed playing twice fuckin' "Save Malik" mission, though.... AC2 was pretty easy too, except the time sink that was finding all the feathers and going back for glyphs I missed. The trophy for sweeping dudes sucked balls, because I kept either dropping the stick or not doing the sweep right and one-shotting people. Eziiioooo!

The walking dead is very easy, you just need play through all 5 episodes and you'll get the plat guaranteed. Not that should be reason to play it (You should play it because it's awesome)

Avatar: Burning Earth (or some other similar subtitle) is the easiest if we count all achievement systems. It takes all of 5 minutes mashing one button to get 1000/1000, but it never came out for the PS3. The easiest to plat is probably the Walking Dead. Every trophy is story progress you cannot miss. DX:HR is a bit buggy and you can miss playthrough length trophies through no fault of your own.

Easiest plats in my experience: X-Men Destiny. I went from zero to plat in this game in less than ten hours (that's real-time hours and not play time), and that involves playing the game through twice. It's pathetically short and easy. Tekken Tag Tournament HD. Another easy one especially if you're already familiar with the series. The hardest trophies involve Tekken Bowl. Most of the rest you can get in practice mode. Sly Cooper. Very short and straightforward unless you stink at finding collectibles. Sound Shapes. Admittedly this one took me a while because it can be tricky. But essentially it doesn't involve actually doing all that much. Once you get going it vomits silver trophies on you. And the Sega Megadrive/Sonic Genesis Collection is also pretty easy. I think that was the first platinum I felt a little dirty after getting. I've never played it but there's also a Terminator game where all you have to do is beat it on the hardest difficulty and you'll get the platinum.

The absolute easiest platinums are the Japanese visual novel games like Umineko which you can simply turn the game on, set it to fast forward through text, and just let it do its thing for <X> amount of hours until you get the platinum after no further input. Then again I can imagine some people not wanting to shill $80+ on a game with no gameplay that they can't read.

The entire Sly collection is easy peasy plats. The only reason I haven't gotten it for 2 is because I miss 1 collectible, and didn't care neough to go back and get it.

Prototype 2 was a really easy platinum. I got most trophies through normal play and really enjoyed the game, then it was just a little extra exploration for about 20 minutes collecting the remaining drops scattered around the city and I hit 100% and got the platinum. It's not an amazing game by any means, but I definitely had a lot of fun with it, much more than the first game at least. If I remember correctly there was a trophy for completing it on hard or something, but doing so on the second playthrough with all of your abilities maxed out via NG+ made it rather trivial. It was so much fun that I quite enjoyed running through the game a second time as well.

Skyrim's a pretty easy plat, just takes a while. Hardest part is knowing you're playing the worst version of the game.

Borderlands 1, Ratchet & Clank collection and R&C: Crack in Time are easy, but they take a good amount of time.

I kinda wish they'd put the Lego games on PSN. It's hard to pay full price for them on release when I see the PC version going for ~$20 cheaper. Speaking of such, it's past 6PM here and I still have no Batman 2. What the hell UPS, you can't be that backed up with holiday shipping already. E: Just saw this on CAG, Walmart apparently is carrying the PS3 version of Lego LOTR + Fellowship of the Ring Blu-Ray for $30. Might be worth checking into if you have one near you.

I was just reading a rumor article that claims to detail what's going to be happening with first and third party hardware and software over the next couple of years. Amongst the chatter regarding the next home consoles from Sony and Microsoft (some of that poo poo sounds so crazy it must be true) he also detailed third party software plans and revealed that apparently Crystal Dynamics plans to resurrect the Legacy of Kain franchise in 2014 using the Unreal 4 engine. It's probably not true but hey

Hey, if playing rail shooters is fun for you then go for it! I did the same thing with HoTD2 on DC until I was able to get a hold of a couple of 3rd party light guns. Best memory of that game was playing with two guns, John Woo style. Haven't tried HoTD4 with a controller though, as I have a Move, but I can't imagine the two games controlling differently.
