Love this game. Got it free with my video card and wasn't expecting too much after the last one turned into watery poo poo. They improved a lot of that one. I love to just sneak around and stab the poo poo out of people, but what is most enjoyable is those outposts with caged animals like tigers and bears. Sneaking in, shooting open the cage and letting nature do all the work.

I just took out an outpost by shooting it up from a patrol boat and when I hit a barrel the fire spread really fast and consumed almost the entire camp except for one last dude. Fire seems pretty good to me.

After playing for awhile I see 2 things that need to be fixed. 1) The hud: This is minor as a Ubi is already releasing a patch for it. Good on them, although a part of me wonders why the game was shipped with such a mangled hud to begin with. 2) Enemies seeing corpses through walls. This absolutely needs to be patched. I've had 3+ outposts in the last hour go on alert because enemies could literally see right through walls. I've been seen through walls as well but nowhere near as often as enemies see corpses.

What's wrong with the HUD? I'm playing on 360 so maybe I don't have the same issues, but I haven't had any problems with it.

I've seen some areas go up in a raging inferno, and then other areas full of grass and vegetation that refuse to light on fire no matter how many molotovs I toss. I've been able to set entire camps on fire with multiple builds, cars, trees and patches of grass roaring at once. It doesn't always happen but it's certainly possible.

Has anyone else had issues getting the mouse sensitivity to where it feels good? I'm coming from default settings in BL2 and it feels really twitchy unless I disable mouse acceleration and drop mouse sensitivity to nearly nothing. Even then it still doesn't feel "right". Sunblood posted:What's wrong with the HUD? I'm playing on 360 so maybe I don't have the same issues, but I haven't had any problems with it. As I said I just came from BL2 and though the menu navigation isn't bad, it's not anywhere nearly as responsive. No complaints other than that.

The compound bow is pretty great once you get the hang of it. There's no feeling quite like landing that perfect 100 meter shot.

I'm coming right from BL2 as well but I have had no issues at all, I have not had to adjust sensitivity in Far Cry 3 but I did in BL2

Anyone else having an issue on PC where you can't control the map screen? Sometimes I can't zoom, sometimes I can't pan, sometimes I can't center on my guy, sometimes I can't even do any of those things. It's really annoying! Would love to know how to fix that. Playing with mouse and keyboard.

Considering that the enemies are some of the best body spotters I have seen in a game, you would think they would have made a better drag and hide mechanic.

I think the drag mechanics are great, a dead guy with a gun and maybe body armor has to weigh quite a bit so dragging him just for a bit (and quite slowly) is probably pretty tough. Not that I demand realism in these types of games, but if you could drag dudes all the time it would work against the pace of combat. Y'know, do a takedown, drag a guy just out of sight, head around, new takedown and so on instead of spending ages "ghosting" through an outpost.

I'm fairly confident in saying there is no man here that can claim to have parked a vehicle somewhere that wasn't a ditch, a river or a fireball (or the ocean smartarse). I just bailed from a flaming ATV at like 100mph and the scar it left across the landscape was like a napalm strike. It was awesome. If you saw what it was you hit while drifting sideways through the jungle you are driving too slow. The best escapes are made firing a DshK with gravity as your getaway driver.

If I didn't use the silenced sniper so much I might use the crossbow. I love doing a quick headshot then stab-n-drag to quickly dispose of a group of two.

I've bought the game through steam and just started it, but the voices are really weird. Sometimes they're perfectly understandable and other times I can't hear them. There isn't a setting to fix it and although I use subtitles as a standard I'd prefer to listen. How can I fix it without making the whole game incredibly loud?

I had a suppressed 700 in the first half of the game and it made taking out an outpost almost too easy. Then I got a suppressed Z93 and it did get too easy. I only started really using the bow in the post-game when I was mopping up the wanted:dead quests. It works pretty well when you stop using it like a sniper rifle and start using it in close-ish quarters.

It's pretty impressive the unscripted things that can happen in this game. I was driving to a radio tower and saw that I was approaching a cliff, and I bailed out of the car at the last second like James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause, and watched the car tumble down and explode. That caught the attention of a couple enemies who chased after me, but both got mauled to death by a bear before they reached me. Thanks bear.

What the gently caress got changed between 4am last night and right now? I never had one crash in 20 hours and today I've had 4 crashes on fast travel and saves, both of which caused me to lose all progress. I don't know what the gently caress happened but the game went from awesome to unplayable over night.

It's not so much the weight of it as its the lack of being able to drag someone once they are on the ground and how easy it is to screw up the drag in the first place. Edit: although not being able to hide bodies in the same way as most stealth games forces you to plan a total takedown vs. slowly killing everyone 1 by 1 which is arguably much more bad rear end and slightly more realistic. veni veni veni fucked around with this message at 22:49 on Dec 9, 2012 |

ChocNitty posted:It's pretty impressive the unscripted things that can happen in this game. Speeding down the road, I spied a flock of cassowary along the side. This seemed like a perfect opportunity for a little payback for all the times I have gotten pecked to death while trying to line up shots from the brush. Flooring it, I barreled over a couple rocks and right into the group as they began to run away from my speeding jeep. I managed to crush two of them (with a very satisfying bump over each) and was going for a third that had left the road and was heading into the brush. I was so intent on murder, that I failed to notice that the slope of the land got really steep and before I knew it, the flightless bird had veered to the side, and my car was now starting to tumble down the hill. I bailed out in time to watch the car bounce down the hill, and roll into an enemy camp. A few moments later, the car exploded and set a massive fire in the camp which burned at least a couple of the pirates to death while I skulked into the bushes nearby. Since I was already there, and their numbers were already thrown in to disarray, I set about picking off the members of the camp. One silent take down after another, an arrow from across the yard, and a mine placed by the alarm system got all but one of them. As I was on my approach to the last one, I see the goddamn bird come up behind him, and finish him off. I don't even know if it was the same one that I followed off the cliff, but I like to think it was.

Holy poo poo, is the final turret sequence glitched out or something? The RPG's just eat me alive. It is actually impossible for me to get past this part, no matter how many times I do it. I had to look up the ending on Youtube. I've been playing on hard so far but even if I turn it down to easy the same thing happens. I fly over the airport and, I kid you not, around 10+ rpgs are fired at once towards me. *edit* This is PC btw, in case there are difference in consoles or something. It took me three tries, and it seemed different each time, as far as how many rpgs you have to deal with. It's pretty much bullshit, because you get shot by dudes who are too far away to see. I found that you pretty much have to be firing constantly and shooting anywhere there might possibly be someone. If you can make it through the second (why!?) pass over the airstrip, you should be golden.

ChocNitty posted:It's pretty impressive the unscripted things that can happen in this game. Yeah, I think the random things that can happen in this game are even better than the ones in STALKER games. Just getting from A to B is awesome because the game will throw unexpected poo poo right at you. I was at the end of a dock looking down at the river and spotted a crocodile so obviously I wasn't going to jump in. But then I turned around only to see a pack of wild dogs that I never heard closing in on me from the start of the dock, so I was trapped from both sides with no ammo. If there wasn't a jet ski right there I would've had to choose death by crocodile or death by dogs. A patrol started shooting at me after I took off in the jet ski so I had to somersault-bail onto the beach and run into the jungle. I was hiding behind some trees trying to find the shooters when my view was jerked back and there was a drat komodo dragon munching on my leg! I also found a mod which is supposed to stop the object blinking but I don't see the line in the FC3_d3d11.dll that has to be changed: code:
