Cratoon Hangover is a channel created by Frederator to post cartoons with swears in them and stuff. There are two serieses on Cartoon Hnagover: Superfuckers Written and Created by James Kochalka of American Elf fame. He's a pretty weird guy. The characters swear because that's funny. Superfuckers Episode 1 Bravest Warriors Created by Pendleton Ward of Adventure Time fame. This thread was made because people kept getting yelled at for discussing it in the Adventure Time thread. Much more tame than Superfuckers except sometimes a guy says 'prolapsed butthole' or something. Bravest Warriors Episode 1 (generally considered less funny than most)

Superfuckers makes me pretty mad because it could be good if it just wasn't so bad. That's all I have to say about it!!

Bravest Warriors is pretty amazing. Emotion Lord and Memory Donk are amazing, though Butter Lettuce and Time Slime are great too.

Bravest Warriors is shamelessly a cartoon for manchildren, and it is quite awesome for that. The fact that my biggest complaint thus far is that there isn't more of it to watch and scrutinize is a very positive attribute.

Superfuckers relies too much on characters being assholes to each other and not enough about the world around them this is why Bravest Warriors is way better.

The best part of cartoon hangover is that Frederator have basically said that they're trying to make the internet a viable means for cartoons to air. This was mainly in reply to the countless "PUT THIS ON ADULT SWIM" comments Bravest Warriors keeps getting. And that's exciting. They've basically said "TV is the past." Granted, it's a risky business model, but I'm glad they're trying this.

I'm all for using the internet to air cartoons (the premiere of Legend of Korra was pretty successful online) and I think it's a great idea, but Cartoon Hangover isn't off to a great start. Superfuckers isn't good at all and Bravest Warriors has a lot of potential, but using it to carry this channel doesn't seem like such a good idea right now. Then again, I don't know what else could be used to draw in viewers. If Pen Ward weren't on board, I highly doubt much of anyone would know or care about Cartoon Hangover.

At the moment it's walking a fine line between irreverent and straight-faced and every time it leans too hard in one direction it seems like it loses it's footing and starts becoming what it's making fun of.

One reason TV is still a relevant medium is because there is some semblance of editorial control - however ineffective and ridiculous it might be, at least Adult Swim doesn't green light poo poo like Superfuckers. I know when I gamble on a new show I'm not going to end up sitting through something like Superfuckers. The station isn't building and chaining themselves to the Superfuckers demographic.

I think Comedy Central isn't afraid of greenlighting a show like Superfuckers. Drawn Together was basically just a cartoon entirely based around sex and puerile humor, wasn't it? I think Comedy Central also greenlighted that reboot of Ren and Stimpy where John K had nobody telling him what not to do and it was absolutely awful because instead of having double entendres it just had single entendres, right? Constant gay jokes and titties and stuff because there was nobody to say "we can't allow kids to watch this". There's definitely something to be said for intentionally throttling your usage of 'mature' humor and such. Hell, I've occasionally felt that censoring swears is sometimes funnier than not. A bleep can be funnier because you fill in the blanks. Lavender Philtrum fucked around with this message at 06:49 on Dec 12, 2012 |

Spike did the Ren and Stimpy Adult Cartoon Party. It also never actually aired it because right when it was about to premier Janet Jackson showed a nipple and TV freaked out about potentially inappropriate content.

Super Fuckers seems like a pretty direct translation of the comic book, so maybe it'll get better? I like the art and I want to like the show but for every (read: 1) decent joke, there's a "joke".

I actually sort of liked the Superfuckers comic. But the appeal of the comic is mostly in the pacing, rhythm, and the laid-back, don't-give-a-gently caress attitude of the strip, and so far it doesn't seem to have translated well into animation. The comic itself is like a rambling little river of mostly-pure id filtered over crushed post-silver-age superhero comic books and sweetened with its innocent-looking art. Not a masterpiece or anything, but pretty amusing to me in an old-school comic strip sort of way.

New bravest warriors today, and it's the best one yet. Even though the last episode was kind of rear end, the series is really good as a whole. I've seen worse things than Superfuckers, but being on the same channel as Bravest Warriors just makes the lowest of the low effort writing sThat's the big problem with superfuckers.ttand out more ("they're superheros but they're kind of assholes and they poop and pee everywhere and try to hump each other like un-house-trained animals. and that's all we need, we don't ever have to see them do any superheroing")

That was also around the time they aired 'Stripperella'. Christ I forgot about that until just now. Also, 'Gary the Rat', which has possibly the dumbest synopsis I've ever heard. "Gary "The Rat" Andrews (voiced by Kelsey Grammer) is a defense attorney who awakens one morning to find that he has somehow transformed into a giant bipedal rat. Gary struggles to deal with his transformation and hold on to his high status."

That totally glosses over one of the main contributing factors to the show's cancellation: John K being unable to meet anything resembling a deadline. The network received a lot of complaints about the sparse release schedule for new episodes but the real reason behind it was that new episodes simply didn't exist because John K had so much trouble meeting the deadlines the network set for him (This was, not coincidentally, one of the major reasons Nickelodeon fired him as showrunner from the original Ren and Stimpy)

http://www.scribd.com/doc/118981476/Bravest-Warriors-Pitch The pitch for Bravest Warriors was posted yesterday. One of the mid season revelations are mentioned early on and while some elements have changed, I would be careful of spoilers. As in, every character's secrets revealed, like Beth's hover pants and everybody's secret brother. But seriously, the page that talks about her hover pants also has quite a few revelations that could spoil any surprises later on. Dehry fucked around with this message at 01:49 on Jan 6, 2013 |
