Maruta is back. If you live in Florida, this isn't a shock as they never really stopped playing live shows.
But still, awesome. Their last album was well-received, especially by grind-y people.

Yeah they're awesome. Brutal as gently caress. First time I saw them was opening for Impaled at Churchill's and the tuning just hosed with my head. No bass, man!

Now it's my turn to be angry.
So I just got back from the Gojira/Townsend show in Winnipeg and holy gently caress was it amazing. Gojira spread my legs and fisted me song after song, heavy poo poo. Townsend was really good too even though I'm not a huge fan, he gave us some good laughs. The first band Atlas Moth or something couldn't make it over the border, whatever.

But gently caress holy gently caress Gojira.

Thats a pity, Atlas Moth owns. Apparently theres some border agent that looks like Morgan Lander that keeps denying illinois bands, turned atlas moth down and didnt let Encrust over the border either.

So in a couple weeks Corrections House (Scott Kelley of Neurosis, Mike Williams of Eyehategod, Sanford Parker of Nachtmystium & Bruce Lamont of Yakuza) are playing here in Baton Rouge. I haven't found any actual recordings anywhere yet, but I'd have to think that it'll be pretty great.

I'm going to be pissed if Atlas Moth don't make it to Vancouver, they're the biggest reason I'm going to that show. Gojira are rad and all, and I've seen Dev a billion times over the years but drat am I stoked for some Atlas Moth.

They're playing a show down here in Miami late this month, and I couldn't be more excited. Reading that it's going to be some experimental/spoken word/acoustic stuff, so that's definitely beyond interesting.

I've mostly avoided posting stuff I've been writing for various blogs...however this is my second annual Do Something post, where I list needy metal families/charities.

If you're feeling generous and are able, scope out the list. Some people are even giving away/selling stuff.

I love everything about this band. The guitars, the drumming, the lyrics. And especially the vocals. It's great to be able to actually understand what in the gently caress the singer is saying for a change.

What other bands have a similar vocal style?

They sound absolutely amazing through a good pair of headphones. You can really distinguish the guitar from the bass from the drumming and lyrics. Especially the bass. It sounds really, really good through headphones. I almost can't listen to them outside of that environment.

I think both of those videos are lame and gimmicky and it just seems like the bands are trying to throw the maximum dumb entertainment factor in.

All of those factors are exactly why this is one of my favorite videos, especially the end. It's so shamelessly ridiculous that I love it as a remnant of the past.

Hmmm, let me see here. Skeletonwitch was last mentioned on page 141 as a passing reference on the nature of tagging bands with one set label ie black or thrash metal.

Before that? I have no idea. I searched 17 pages back and didn't see any mention of them.

So please point out the intense recent Skeletonwitch discussion because I'd really like to read it.
