I demand free time events with the traitor. I agree, if somebody is proven to have attempted murder and failed, it's something they'll have to deal with for the rest of the game. If this turns out to be the case with Nagito, it'll make his arc considerably more interesting, since up to this point he's just been the really friendly and sociable and ambiguously related to Naegi in some way. Syo was fun in her own way though. I like how after a while it just didn't really bother anybody that she had proudly murdered dozens of innocent men in cold blood.

Well, we don't know if they were innocent or not. She only killed people she was attracted to. And she was only attracted to people who abused her. Plus, Syo was crazy. Possibly from being abused that drove her to becoming the killer she was.

This always was a weird thing about DR1, but I wouldn't say it didn't bother anybody, exactly. What could they really do about her? They're trapped together and watching out for potential attacks from anyone, so what's one more person to suspect? Why call her out and risk getting some special attention from her when you could just try and discreetly avoid her, and why try to target her to kill when she's got way more experience than you? I'm still hoping DR0 will shed some light on how much Hope's Peak knew about Syo, though.

Well, from a meta standpoint, it's just hard to be bothered by that when she's so drat likable. Over-the-top characters like that are always just so much fun. Actually, it's sort of that way in-universe kinda? I mean, it's not something that would ever make sense in the real world, but in terms of the surreal internal logic of Dangan Ronpa it makes total sense. Syo was in her own weird way extremely personable. In fact, she was kind of a little bit easier to get on with than Fukawa. Fukawa was always quick to judge other people shallowly and harshly and kind of distanced herself from other people and was always in a bad mood. Meanwhile, Syo is clearly having the time of her life no matter what's going on. And I don't think Syo cared much about anyone who wasn't Togami either, but she never pushed anyone away immediately like Fukawa did. In conclusion, Genocider Syo is a genocider bro.

Not to get too armchair-psychoanalyst, but this also applies to the writers and the audience. I think someone explained it best back when Hanamura was introduced: the reason people immediately loathed him was because most probably actually knew people in real life who where huge creeps or maybe were even subjected to sexual harassment by said huge creeps. Others, like me, just found him cartoonishly goofy, probably because they didn't have the same frame of reference. Now apply this to Syo: exactly how many people would be offended by the presence of a cartoonishly over-the-top serial killer? Serial killers are just way beyond most people's everyday experience: they rarely have family, loved ones or acquaintances who were murdered in a horribly brutal manner, and even when they have, it probably wasn't by a serial killer. It's kind of incomprehensible for most people, including the writers of Dangan Ronpa, and I think this greatly influenced the writing of the game: Syo is only threatening for about a minute before she becomes a comic relief character, and the fact that she has brutally murdered people does not apply because neither other characters in DR nor the audience even get to know his victims. I think if her background and her victims were elaborated upon, she would actually come off as despicably monstrous instead of wacky. TL;DR: The monkeysphere. All the death flags raised by Togami totally flew over my head, since I had a really bad case of tunnel vision: that awkward silence scene made me expect Nidai or Hanamura to be the first victim, with Sonia closely involved in the whole mess. Oh well, it might as well happen next chapter. That said, I do believe that Hanamura is the culprit this time. He had more than enough screen time already, not to mention having more opportunities to put his plan into motion, like access to food, cutlery and any other ingredients in the kitchen. That's more speculation than making a theory on hard evidence, though: the case seems a bit too complicated for anything like that at this point of time. Armanky posted:...He was just lucky that Togami shoved him out of the way right before the culprit attacked. And for anyone who cares, yesterday was Nidai's birthday. So uh, I don't know if anybody ever goes to danbooru, and I will probably regret admitting I do, but if you do, it's worth noting that their front page currently takes you directly to a bunch of thumbnails, I guess. That's primarily noteworthy because apparently there's a lot of Dangan Ronpa 2 up there right now! Needless to say there's much less I can discuss about this game now, but I figured I might pass that along before somebody else runs into the same thing.

Ah, the classic internet mentality of "If I've seen it, everybody has seen it." That sucks, guys, I'm sorry that people are such loving assholes with no loving discretion. Hopefully they come up in the game sooner rather than later, unless it's a "Hanamura was controlling Monomi ALL ALONG!" kind of spoiler.

Just keep yourself locked in your room, subsisting on a diet of delivery pizza. I have only read this thread, the previous thread, and the wikipedia page if I forget the difference between several Japanese names, and somehow I know a spoiler. Not plot, not anything that matters, just what one of the ????'ed out main menu thing is going to be. I am slowly driving myself crazy trying to figure out where I heard it from. I have read the OPs about a dozen times each trying to find it. Best guess, I think maybe it was a line in Wikipedia one day but edited out the next. e: Oh thank christ! Mystery solved. Or at the very least, keep SafeSearch on to avoid poo poo like this happening to you. You probably would have been better off some the spoilers if you ask me, at least in this case. Edit: Look, think of it from this perspective, what would you rather have people see if they walk in on you while you're searching the internet, spoilers for a game they've probably never heard of, or gay porn. On one hand, both you and them get spoiled, although they probably wouldn't care, on the other hand, it would just be incredibly awkward.
