Oh by the way, I still have four gift copies of this game lying around. I'm trying to think of some dumb way to give them away to whoever might want them. Preferably, to people in this thread / in the clan.

Is it just me or does this game look better than retribution?

Yeah, the mission pack is basically a chance pack, I think.

Also I found a new toy. I had no idea the BFSMG was so great. I didn't know the recoil only kicked in after the burst.

I want you to know that this gun build caused me to waste 30 minutes of my day Google image searching pictures of Major Kusanagi's rifle from the 1996 GitS movie. Thank you.

Wait, I just realized I haven't seen any GitS themed clans in BLR. That feels wrong to me.

There are totally worse ways to spend half an hour. The new GitS re-release is extra pretty, and I have re-watched it just after playing this game.

I'm surprised there isn't a Knight Sabers clan of hardsuit pilots.

Basically, 1day are ZEN only now, and 3day GP options should be available after maintenance or whatever. Apparently they're about twice as expensive as 1day GP rentals. Some other stuff too.

The bullet points from the post, also weekend shenanigans:

quote:

I know you'd like specifics, so here are the details:
-1 day attachments will be available for ZEN. The average 1-day price will be lower -- when I was looking over the Product Manager's shoulder, they were 11-25 ZEN each, most in the teens.
-3 day attachments will be available for GP. These will be about 2x as expensive as the old 1-day GP options were, making them about 300-500GP. There won't be any 3-day ZEN prices.
-There won't be any change to magazines.
-All receivers will have their rental prices -- both for ZEN and GP -- removed.
-All receivers will have a perm GP price.

I want to thank you all for your feedback, I and the Blacklight team appreciate it. And to give you guys a head-start on the changes coming next week, we're running a massive bonus weekend -- double GP, double XP, and double CP.

Start time: 6 PM PDT, 4/19
End time: 11:59 PM PDT, 4/21

Also it looks like you got a mention in the news post, Nihil:

quote:

In addition, we'll be adding some temporary premades to the starter pack -- many thanks to kelmomas0 for that idea.

At first I was puzzled at being unable to rent receivers at all, but then I remembered that even on my no-perm US alt I never rented any receivers for the last few weeks, because I'd just get them from the mission chance packs. So I think this may work better than expected.

Also I'm genuinely surprised that they're making all guns GP-permable. I'd say I'll miss the "P2W!!!11!!" pub tears if I thoughts facts would stop them :v:

If by a miracle Zombie manages to hammer out a decent competitive scene, they'll come back; they already seem to have covered their asses by saying stuff like "I'll be playing a game now and then". If ESL and such stuff crashes and burns, or remains vaporware, they would have left anyway.

(I know goons have nothing but loathing for the e-peen crowd, and they are a bunch of twatty teenagers mostly, but it's true: a game like this needs both casual appeal AND a competitive scene to grow. The former pay the bill, but the latter makes people keep playing even after they've seen everything and provides a hook to draw the former in.)

um. That's...interesting.

On the other hand, what this means in practice is that completely new players will have *two* guns to play with--the basic AR, and whatever the free gun is this week. Hopefully Zombie/PWE develops an extremely simple "CUSTOMIZE LIKE THIS" video that new players will be required to watch, so that they understand what they're supposed to do.

I think I like the BFSMG precisely because I can put a max damage muzzle, extended mags, and a sight on it and be done with customizing. Saves GP on buying parts. It currently does 47 damage a round which is nice.

I don't have the barrels to drop it down to 45 damage for increased stats at the moment, and I could slap the Daylight tag on it instead of the Astro Icon Tag which increases the damage by one somehow, but that would only get me 0.01 degrees improvement on the spread while moving so that's probably not worth it.

Edit: VVV Oh. I'm wearing the Hunter for the increased HRV. That would get me to 210 hp. Worth it, then?

If you don't need any other tag on your gun, use a health tag. Among the available tag bonuses, the couple of HP are the most likely to be relevant.

How did I even get here, son?!
I am in love with the burst-fire rifle and spent all of my newbie scrub money on this frame first off. My current setup is basically minimize aim spread without messing up my damage too much. I rarely aim down the sights unless I'm not getting shot at and I use it in close to medium range combat just blasting away at people's faces while juking like crazy. If I don't one-burst face murder people, I usually finish them off with the second and then finish off their team mate, and then kill their other team mate. I love it. Extended magazine is great.

Any suggestions as far as using this? Am I doing it wrong? I generally have at least 2:1 kdr and top the charts a lot.

My GP strategy when I was levelling up my EU character: Prioritise acquiring universally useful items over specialised ones, combine multiple level-up Trial Packs to get the most value out of their contents, carefully estimate the time required to perm a new item and plan accordingly how best to rent it in the meanwhile.

My GP strategy when levelling up my US character: gently caress IT THE NEXT GRENDEL PACK IS THE WINNER I CAN FEEL IT :hurr:

I don't agree. No game needs a bunch of twats. A game like this needs community leaders and people that play it at the competitive level but it's not healthy when those people are total douche cannons.

Still rocking the gently caress out of my 58 damage burst rifle with pinpoint hip-fire accuracy assuming you slow down your juking for half a second or crouch. Nothing better than snap shotting all three rounds into someone's face as you come around a corner.
