Something I noticed in the local news, some time back Faryan Heravi, a terminally ill 10-year-old boy suffering from an aggressive form of lymphoma was much to his delight visited by the Finnish ice hockey player Teemu Selänne who promised the kid that if he beat the disease, he'd personally take him and his family for a tour to see the Honda Center, their hockey match, his locker room and anything else he wanted. Turns out that against all odds he was recently declared clear of cancer, and without prompting the Anaheim Ducks called them to arrange the visit. Thus last Wednesday Selänne kept his promise: LA Times posted:Selanne took the boys and Bobby into the locker room, where a jersey with Selanne's No. 8 and the name HERAVI on the back awaited Faryan in Selanne's locker stall. Selanne helped him put it on and roll up the sleeves. It reached down past his knees. Full story here.

It's been popping up a lot on my Facebook but only in the context of "this makes me angry and is invalid because it focuses on thin, white, blonde women and not on minority or transgendered women!". One of my friends is really great at that whole "I won't tell you that you're wrong for liking this but I'm going to passive-aggressively imply it and if you call me out, you're transphobic" thing. I think some of my friend's expectations are too high for a quick commercial so it's nice to see it being appreciated and not nit-picked to death. This thread has actually been a great remedy for all the crap going on in my life right now. I wish I had something to contribute!

A family on vacation accidentally left their son's favourite plush giraffe blankie at the hotel and the kid was so upset they asked the staff to send a photo of 'Joshie' having an 'extended vacation' to assure the kid it was safe and sound while they waited for it to arrive in the post. These are the photos they received.

^ edit: pro-click ^ It's nice way to break the drudgery for a few minutes. Pining for my C64 days (so old). Is requesting things okay here? In the last thread there was a really awesome Youtube video posted - a composer put together a choir of YT submissions from all around the world that blew my mind. I think 1200 people contributed. 2000? Something like that. I think it was the first time I fully understood how moving choir/classical music could be. My lack of googling and searching abilities hasn't got the me anywhere close. I'm probably like one search-string away, but the older I get the more I google more like my parents. Can anyone hook me up? I think he was putting together an album of similar massively submitted choir tracks. gently caress, why can't I remember his name? It makes it sound like everyone there must spend all day just dancing: http://www.radioparadisagasy.com/ Just want to reiterate what The French Prince said... This rules. Pop it on as some background music and you won't be sorry. It makes some pretty nice "do something you don't particularly like" background music. Cooking breakfast? Washing up? Dance a bit more. That was a -worthy breakfast. Washing machine is done. "drat laundry I hope this batch doesn't get peed on by that possum." "It didn't!" Hanging up my clothes Never underestimate the power of good background music... It certainly beats sitting on a spin bike eating oatmeal and watching the news. edit:(disclaimer: if you're anything like me don't dance like that anywhere outside of your home or with the windows open, I think it's more of a singing in the shower type thing, but screw everybody, it's fun. I was walking past a tennis court today and these two ladies were playing tennis and had a golden retriever tied to the fence. He was whining and quivering because he wanted that ball SO BAD. I was like, "Hey y'all are being awfully mean to this nice doggie" and one of the ladies said that she had to tie him up because he was a danger to himself and she would show me. So she untied him and they started hitting the ball back and forth and that poor dog did not know what to do with himself. He tried to turn around so fast as the ball flew by him that he almost knocked himself over. It was pretty much like the first half of this gif: It was hilarious--he ended up with two balls in his mouth and kept chasing them.
