I'm not sure how it works elsewhere, but around here it costs $60 to get a cat from the shelter and they give you a thing to take to the vet good for one free spaying. Maybe I should assume.

I just got back from spca volunteer indoc, and they offer crazy cheap spaying. Now, you probably live nowhere near me, but chances are the shelters near you do the same thing. It helps them keep costs down since the more cats that are spayed, the less strays they have to take care of. Not trying to jump down your throat, but there are probably craploads of low cost solutions if you look into it a bit.

Just google "low cost spay/neuter [your area]". You will find something. A friend of mine just had her cat spayed for 15 bucks. It's the best thing for kitty. She won't be miserable each time she's in heat and it cuts out her chances of reproductive cancers. Cute content: The most uncomfortable comfortable kitty
