I approve of the plot device out of nowhere style that this game likes. It reminds me of little kids playing superheroes or whatever, where the winner really just comes down to who can spin the most bullshit powers and counter-powers until the game ends because someone has to go home.

I think it's a bit of a cop-out how they gloss over the fact that Ryle's a freaking prince so quickly, especially since it comes as a legitimate surprise (unless it gets brought up again at some point, in which case never mind) - or it does to me, anyway. As for the plot device shenanigans, well, as Tin Tim pointed out, it sort of cheapens the struggles our protagonists go through. Good Times - Bad Times After leaving the castle, our heroes meet up at the Inn.  .png) "Yeah, thanks to Fina's brilliant plan."  "Ahh, not again~ Caris stop "cheering" me up." .png) "I was being honest though..." This line could indicate that Caris' earlier lines towards Fina actually may have included some sarcasm or friendly ribbing. It's kinda hard to bring that across in text boxes though, so I'm not really sure.  "See, without Sis Fina, it was not possible to save Factoria."  "Not only that, all the White Shinobi members were safely rescued as well."  "Hmm, Savior's daughter of course..."  "Even Latyss!" .png) "I admit Fina's plan was perfect, but we freed Factoria by working as a team!" "Hey, you just said it bro!"  "It's so Ryle..." "Yes. We all fought well."  "Yeah! It wasn't me alone!" "Indeed..." "Well, we'll return to Volcana. Then bring everyone back to Lavas."   This is the official end of the events around the Factoria castle. The girls that were with Ryle gain two attraction points, while the rest gains one. I don't think that it's really important for you to always know the exact standings, so I'll only bring them up when it matters. Jfyi, Caris is in the lead right now. With one point more than Hayami. After this scene, we find us in another night sequence where we can walk around or go to sleep.  Let's find some romantic scenes! In the middle of town, Orubia paces about.  The white thing on the right is an unrelated, but cuddly dog.  "Yo! Taking a night walk? Orubia." .png) "OH!! Dear.....Ryle." .png) "Hey! What is that scary face for! Like you saw some kind of monster!" .png) "I may not look like a super hunk, but at least you don't have to be that scared~" .png) "...Will you be alright with it?" "Huh!?" "You are the real prince you know? Will you be alright on not staying in the castle?"  "Didn't you hear me back there? I was thrown out of the royalty! I am not a noble any more!" "But they did it to just protect Dear Ryle!"  The hint says that you should use gentle words here. So it doesn't help at all! The second line seems right, but it's actually the first. "You didn't hear me?" "Eh? Like I said, the king tricked the bishop to let you escape from the castle." "Then I said, "My name is Ryle Laster! What I am now is the real me!"..." "Oh, yes..you did." "Maybe I am a prince after all...But, I am also me who has been living at Lavas for so long. That's why the place has been, is, and will be my hometown no matter what..." "...I am sorry. Dear Ryle. I-I thought you will remain as the prince for good. And we'll go separate.." "But I was wrong. You always will be Ryle Laster of Lavas Ville! right? Dear Ryle belongs to Lavas!" I do like her scenes since it's actually kinda cute how she acts, but she's such a flat character otherwise. After a few steps to the north...  ...I find the next scene. "Yo! Hayami!"  "Ryle Donno..." I like to imagine that Ryle sneaks up on the girls, only to give them a jump scare with his yelling in the night.  "Both Factoria and White Ninjas are finally safe for now..." "Come to think of it, we actually accomplished quite big this time." "Certainly so. Only 6 of us fought back nearly 1000 troops."  "But why do you risk your life for others so often?" "Hey hey, do I have to have a reason every time I help people?" "But in the end, you will lose your life for sure and you still willing to help?"  Here, the hint is telling us that Hayami likes to help her friends. And since she's worried about death, this one should be obvious. "But if you look out for yourself first, then there's no way that you can dare to help others!" "In the worst case, we might all die for that!" "I know. We already went thru the same kind of situation back at the castle." "In..Indeed.." "I also know it's really difficult to save others for real..than just saying mere words...But when you know you can help, you just have to do it...especially when your friends need you.." First up, Fina's current thoughts about Ryle.  The others haven't changed so far. And Latyss just fell a few points short of starting to care about Ryle.  Now, let's take a short stroll around town.  Dinner Jello will fully restore your MP.  But it's really expensive. And in true RPG fashion, you can also buy a tent for resting in the wild. But the look at that price! Yeah, not gonna buy that for a long time, if ever.  You know that cat poster which says "Hang in there." ? I like to think he brought her one.    Ha, no more free maid for you, lardass! "I was hoping doing more FUN stuff with her after she is more mature..*frown*" fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck  Moving on into the castle...   This could be a reference that I'm not getting?  Aside from being an endgame weapon, this is also required for one of the bigger secrets in the game.  You can rest easy, knowing that Hayami is the only one who will be sesshaing from now on. On the way, Latyss learns a new spell.  It hits pretty hard! I also make a short stop at the VP guy, and dump my 20 points.    "Hey! I can't equip it *frown*" Nope! Because this sword is only for women. I give it to Caris.  Look at that power increase.  The next item costs 25 points, and it will take a while till I'm going to get it. Okay, now I'm convinced that my earlier take on Caris' lines was wrong. She's obviously teasing Fina a bit. Unless they meant Ruin Disaster. Or there's some weird rune that allows Mary Suewhatsherface to create a sword out of thin air. Eh. And I think the joke is canned pasta.

Ah, yes,  time. Well, very limited amounts anyways. I typed up a big part of it and had to delete it because it contained spoilers I didn't realize were spoilers at the time.Anyways, Rune Disaster's name is less of a name and more of a title. The word pun of Rune is indeed Ruin, because it was thought that this sword contained a demonic power and would destroy the world. The title-giver, and more backstory on this sword requires quite a bit more story, as we won't encounter the persons involved for over fifteen updates or so. Something like "ぢざーすた Rune," IIRC.

In the Japanese version I have (I continue to wonder whether there was an evolved Japanese version between that and this) it's just Rune Disaster in katakana, at least at this point. Meanwhile in the castle there isn't even a chef present (the guard just says 'I'm hungry'), just a serving girl talking about making Isotonic Derringer Kappa Ebisen. If the first half is a reference I've no idea what to.

loving rich people man. They're all about demons an poo poo. Never looking out for their fellow man. You know, despite all these words, that Mail Dragon is the first instance of some really effective and really intriguing world building. The rest of the political conversations try to make it seem the plot is more complex than it actually is. And to answer your earlier question Tin Tim, Hayami knew Ryle was the Prince because she used her busty kunoichi skills to get his warm, DNA-rich fluid... I'm talking about his blood of course! Dude probably got cut up by monsters by the time he met her! What did you think I meant?

When it gets revealed later it will only be a revelation to the player. That's dumb. Also, the use of "thru" probably annoys me more than it should.

So bringing Orubia or Hayami can be handy for this trip."   Choose one girl to accompany Ryle and Latyss. Voting is open for 48 hours or something like that. Just to remind you - Hayami can see all traps and counter mechanical ones, while Orubia can't spot traps on her own and can counter magical ones. And Latyss said the elves like magic traps. The other thing I want to mention is that you don't have to vote for either of the two. You can also vote for Caris or Fina. It'll make the next part harder for me, but you're free to choose!

Ah yes, the upcoming chapter. It's going to be awesome, as it's one of my favorite parts about the game. As was mentioned in the update, Flare refused the title because she lost a few of her loved ones. That's not entirely accurate, but it is representative. Specifically, Flare didn't want to be recognized as a Savior of the World if she couldn't protect the ones close to her. I hope that's being vague enough without spoiling anything yet. --- As for El Metal...I wish there was a bit more liberty given to it. Elven Metal, for instance, would have been quite a bit better. --- The overall lower quality of English used in the translation, IIRC, is due to rm2kfanboy not being a native English speaker? Like I mentioned, it's been a long while since I even played this series and participated in what little fanbase there was for it at that time. Also, my vote is for Caris Burnfist. Hayami stops Physical Traps, Orubia stops Magical Traps, but nothing beats a good Hidden Crash. Edit: <spoiler> Now that I think about it, there's actually a reason that the game doesn't explicitly say (but implies) regarding Brad's dislike of the girls helping him.
