I think the going theory on why Eva doesn't have the traditional weaknesses she ought to have is because of Magia Erebea redefining certain parts of her supernatural makeup.

I don't think his aging was ever mentioned. The nature of his transformation was pretty unprecedented, since the only other serious practitioner of Magic Erebea was already a vampire.

No, they said he'd likely reach 20 before he stopped aging. From the epilogue, he probably did.

I think it was mentioned that no one knew if he'd age, but in the pictures from the alternate future he was an adult. It could have been due to a spell effect like Evangeline, though.

But he was shown at ages older than that in images Asuna found in that time capsule. It never really got explained, but I think they said they weren't sure how his aging was going to work, that was just one thing that might happen.

Because I'm bored and have too much time on my hands, I decided to do some more or less baseless speculation on what looks like it will be the main cast, judging from the splash page. Assuming inherited traits, whether by being direct descendants or not, we have from left to right, excluding Touta and Eva:

Pretty obviously the Chachamaru replacement, with maybe a bit of Hakase as well. Looks like a guy to me.

Likely the main girl. As others have said she's probably a descendant of Setsuna or Konoka, since she looks like a mix of the two.

Mop Nagi has the ponytail kind of like Kaede, so I suppose he's a ninja janitor. With a tie. I suppose cleaning would be easy if you can make clones of yourself.

I have no idea who the little girl with the braided red(?) hair is supposed to be.

Black haired guy has two swords and glasses, so I'm guessing a descendant of the crazy girl with two swords and glasses. She was fun.

Mallet girl I'm guessing has something to do with Yue, since they have similar facial expressions.

The blond woman (I think) gives me a feeling similar to Ayaka. Not sure why she'd have a sword other than because swords.

The dark skinned guy probably is a replacement for Mana, since there is only ever one dark skinned person in any manga, and judging by the type of sword is probably the mandatory shinmeiryuu person.

No clue on the hooded boy/girl.

Obviously Not Fate is Obviously Not Fate, but with an awesome coat.

Of course all of this could be totally wrong and the similar appearances to characters in Negima could just be a red herring.

God dammit it needs to be next week already.

Hum, I can take a stab at a summary. Though I guess technically it's not an alternate timeline but the main one.

Very near the end of the series, it's revealed that as part of Negi's plan to save the Magic World Asuna will have to be sealed away for a hundred years while her suppressed personality of the Twilight Imperial Princess orchestrates the magic involved. She eventually wakes up 130 years later, having "overslept", to find a high tech world where magic is openly practiced and a vast tower stretches into space. She searches, but all her friends are gone and the places they used to hang out have fallen into decay; she eventually finds a gravestone for Negi which lists him as having lived for 63 years. She excavates a time capsule that the others had known about and finds pictures and letters; after she goes to sleep, Konoka takes and passes the Magister exam and returns Negi's village to life, Honya and Yue go on to work in space, and Negi's plan progresses smoothly, and Ayaka outlives everyone to 115 to meet with Asuna but misses her because of the oversleeping. Asuna breaks down and then Evangeline and Chao come to see her, and Chao uses the time travel device to return Asuna to seconds after she was sealed away for a hundred years, creating an alternate timeline where things may not happen the same way. Asuna asks Eva how Negi died only to be told that he was content at the end, and she mentions that Asuna may be able to change what happens. She also tells Negi that he was eventually regarded as a true Magister of old, a hero like his father.

The last two chapters of the manga then takes place in another future, seven years later, where Magic is starting to be accepted and Nagi has been rescued. It ends with a short summary of what all the students are doing in that period.

Guys, find a woman who looks at you the way GhostStalker looks at every bald, obese, single 58 year old accountant from Tulsa who managed to win $4,000 by not wagering on a Final Jeopardy triple stumper.

Just read the first chapter, and I am glad to see that Ken has dropped most of the harem shenanigans here to go straight for the action instead. Hopefully, that trend continues in this series, since I think everyone here can say that the harem shenanigans were pretty much the worst part of Negima. Liked Eva's new form, and the main character being a grandson of Negi and related to the Konoe family is an interesting plot lead.

Cannot wait for the next chapter to come out.

Only problem I really have with Eva's new form is that she looks way too much like one of the teachers from Negima who was mostly a background character except in a short side-story involving Yuna and her daddy issues and does not really resemble her "adult form" we saw in early Negima.

I guess it's a workable disguise though, but it looks a bit off from what I expected.

Doubt it was that easy, it's part and parcel of her immortality. She routinely went around in an adult form before being sealed in Mahora though, to the point that most people would more readily identify the Dark Evangel as the big chested witch rather than the kid.

I won't lie, I'm loving pumped. It's a bummer to know most of Negima's cast is probably dead, but I guess it was to assert this won't be Negima 2.0. Hopefully, Akamatsu will make the new cast as likeable the the old (also Rakan is supposed to have a very long lifespan, so he might appear, which is all everyone should need). And Eva without her curse? Things are gonna get badass fast. I hope the main character won't get too strong too fast, though. Seeing Negi getting gradually stronger was one of the best parts of Negima. Generally speaking, I hope the manga will take its time and not be just fighting all the time. All the bullshit chapters in Negima worked in the way that, as bad as they might have been, they made you know and care about all the characters. I don't think I would have liked the good parts as much if the terrible part didn't exist.

Also the mop guy in the group pic has the distinctive Springfield hair color. Manga genetics tell me he's got to be somehow related.

Or maybe the next couple hundred chapters will just consist entirely of Eva filling in Touta about his family history as they walk the hundreds of miles to Tokyo, "How I Met Your Mother"-style.

And, conveniently enough, let's say she already told him all the events of the Negima manga, so she can just pick up the story from there.
