So after getting massively annoyed at all the duplicates from Elektra lockboxes, I decided to open the handful of Satana boxes I had lying around. The first one gave me the last cover I needed for her. I had basically given up on her so that was nice. I think I might just hoarde the last few Elektra boxes for a month, see if the same thing happens.

Make sure you're fighting Dark Wolverine and the mini bosses at the same time. This is essential. Chose someone who gives good team-up bonuses (X-23 is a good call if you have her but there are other good options). Keep everyone health high for the health bonus. Try to use at least 5 and preferably 10 items to get a Quartermaster bonus. Try to finish the match as quickly as possible for the time bonus. If possible, try to get epic overkills and one-shots because these give a lot of bonuses to your final score. A good way to combine a lot of these is to use chrono accelerators to give yourself a lot of extra turns. This means you have plenty of time to use items, set your characters up to do max damage and kill opponents quickly. If you are really struggling just buy 15+ chrono accelerators and have all 3 of your characters use it on themselves each turn. Suddenly having twice as many turns as normal will give you a massive leg-up.

You have to be careful about debuff removers and characters that have non-quick non-attack actions when you use it, but the AI generally triggers it so it can be very damaging. It's the best psychic weapon you can grind for that I can think of. The odds of getting it before the end of this season are pretty low, so keep that in mind, too.

Whoo! I managed to get my last cover for Elektra by opening boxes one at a time. Bye-bye, PVP. For awhile there, I felt like I didn't have enough heroes and all my characters were just waiting to go from 9 to 10 or 10 to 11. Now I have Elektra and Squirrel Girl, Gambit and Rogue (Rogue is boring but Gambit is surprisingly fun), and Wolverine to level up.

I had a battle last night where we almost got nuked in the first turn by Modern Thor, but he triggered all 3 of my characters into attack, and destroyed the other team. I wish I had known you didn't have to complete incursions or heroic battles to unlock Doc Ock epic boss. That would have saved me so much anguish. His alt is essentially an entirely different character- only the wings passive is the same. All his powers are single target, but they do have some good effects- his last two powers turn off resurrection and ignore resurrection, respectively, and nanoplague from his second power is a great effect if it doesn't get removed right away. He seems decent enough. May want to build up a bit of a buffer in case of another character if you're worried, though.

I keep bouncing between top 9% and top 12%. Barely sitting in diamond now and I'm not sure if I should try to inch my way up a little or just hope my defensive team doesn't lose too much.

The best thing about going "oh this one strat works, lrn2play nub" attitude, completely ignores that the one tactic requires turn order to be a specific way, that the rest of the other team doesn't have something to prevent it, and a whole host of other factors. It isn't Starcraft where you just have to do X to avoid getting Zerg Rushed in the first turn, because there's many many random factors that can ruin either side.

Lots and lots of cyclops, a few Captain America, and a metric fuckton of that scroll thing that makes the agent phase, often with the crown dealie and the usual warbound axe.

I finally got Ares today, didn't seem like as much of a slog as past Spec Ops. Used the CP I got through the mission to buy Phoenix. Next, saving up for another 90 CP hero, probably Wolverine. This game is fun when you ignore the annoying parts!

Ended PVP with only 6 covers for Elektra, after opening 200 boxes (with another 7 unopened.) Took me 23 gold to get the last two, which was nice. Much better than the 80 gold I spent on the last three Magneto covers. Probably the reason most people's ratings seem down this time around is because of the lockbox hero--ran into the same thing with Juggernaut. I'm willing to bet that most of the time, there's a pretty big contingent of players who don't bother. Maybe they'll do one fight, get their silver, and call it a day. That changes with the lockboxes; people want the character, so they'll do their five fights a day, and that pushes more people's ratings down. (Usually I'm comfortably in gold by the end, but with both Juggernaut and Elektra, I've been dragged deep into the lobster bucket that is Silver.)
