After he retired from competition, MMA legend and self-defense instructor extraordinaire Bas Rutten did a little pro wrestling with NJPW. Here is his first match ever, which was against huge Japanese man Manabu Nakanishi. Note the first spot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHPHJEiBaKE Here is a video of Bas talking about that match, which is why I dug it up to begin with. Bas is a scary dude, so props to Manabu for being such a professional. Does anyone have a link to the video where an indy wrestler suffers a seizure in the ring after a botched move? I don't remember the name of the wrestler but I'm pretty sure he was masked. Also I think there was a little discussion in the thread over the fact that the opponent pinned him to end the match rather than stopping it immediately after the botch. I've tried searching different terms but I'm getting nowhere without the name of the wrestler or promotion.

And then, as per the stipulation of the match, Mitch Ryder has to have his head shaved because he lost the match which was done to a dead silent crowd (except for Lince's mom who was screaming in the back about her son being hurt). Yeah, there were a few no-shows in there as well, but the unmasked appearance on Scott Hall's show-- and straight-up identifying himself as Lince Dorado while doing so-- was the death knell. Quack probably wouldn't have cared if Lince had given some other name.

In fairness to Quack (something I won't say often, he managed to burn his goodwill with me), I don't think ANY company would stand for blatantly loving kayfabe up the rear end like that without authorization.

The one correction here is that he was the one who made the pin. He did a Shooting Star Senton and nailed the mat too hard, going into a seizure. He was vaguely touching Mitch Ryder so the ref just made the count and ended the match. Ryder got his head shaved, as part of the rules and it was the most chillingly awkward thing. The whole "Quack told everyone to lay off the mask" thing never really rang true to me and always came off as an exaggeration based on him showing caution because it's more ammo for "sleeping on the couch" jokes. It seems too over-the-top, even for Quack. Especially since they did unmask Lince in the ring and led him to the back. Anyway, YouTube. This JBL and Cole episode has everything, including Tensai stealing Hogan's gimmick.
