"I'm okay - the sign is slightly under the maximum height!" is what 100% of drivers would think before hitting the drat bridge.

That's goddamned hilarious.

I used to work as a furniture mover, and every few months some fuckwit at the company would jam his truck under a bridge and either spend an hour slightly deflating his tires or have to call for a tow. I never saw any trailers peeled right back like that though. I guess our drivers were at least carefully slow if they didn't think an overhang was high enough.

That suspended sign with lights should be further from the bridge and slightly under the maximum height so it bangs the cab or trailer before the truck ever reaches the bridge. While it wouldn't produce quite as much comedy, it'd be a whole lot safer.

According to the site, there are warnings all the way back for 2 blocks and the maximum height is actually 3 inches above what the sign says.

I mean, Jesus, kid, at least date a motherfucker with abortion money and house to have sex at where your mother and I don't have to hear it. Also, if he treats her poorly, boom, that asshole's gonna catch a statch charge.

Please, John K. Date my daughter... Save her from dating smelly dropouts who wanna-be Soundcloud rappers.

The crane on the right is moving the massive crane-looking thing on the left (a dragline excavator) at a coal mine in Queensland. Watch the motor house of the crane on the right when it lets go. My favourite part is the way the boom for the operating crane just dissolves when it goes over vertical; while they are incredibly strong, they are only strong in one direction, and fall apart at the drop of a hat when stressed the wrong way. This is why they don't operate in high winds, and why when they are shut down for the night, they have sensors on them to automatically turn them to present the lowest profile to the wind.

The operator of the crane that let go suffered minor injuries; I heard from an industry source that he broke a bone in his wrist gtfo'ing from the cab, and quite frankly I don't blame him at all, even though the safest thing would have been to stay in. Crane operator cabins are rated to survive cave-ins in underground mines, because they are often used on different equipment that goes underground.

The dragline boom (big crane-y bit) had to be replaced at a cost of approximately half a million Australian dollars.

Video is :nws: for the language of the guys who are filming it.

I think it's a mix of being highly intoxicated, adrenaline and the fact that third degree burns burn away enough nervous tissue that you apparently can't even feel the suckers.

The guest is a mediocre quarterback and Rome I guess never thought in a million years the guy would have the balls to actually come after him while the cameras were on. I like to think he learned a lesson there about being in a profession where you spend you time around huge athletic guys that can kick your rear end at the drop of a hat.
