Beggars' Bazooka is my favorite sidegrade period. It does not work at all if you try to use it like any other rocket launcher, and you are forced into the role of a shock trooper unless you really like reloading a lot while getting shot at. But by God does it make mincemeat of roamers around corners, clusters of light classes, and deathmatchers who aren't used to dodging three rockets at once. It goes really well with the Bison too, not only does it have infinite ammo but pubbies that survived your rocketspam will usually either run like the wind or suicidally charge you, and the bison handles the former much better than the shotgun. Shotgun is still better at the latter, but they're already half dead and running in a straight line, you can take them. The combo of Beggar's Bazooka and Righteous Bison is really situational against people who know what they're doing, but even then you can still get rear end in a top hat ambush kills like with the Backburner. It changes how the class plays in a way that completely dominates sometimes but loses most of its traditional strengths instead of just having a flat penalty to damage or speed or whatever. It is a really well designed Weapon. GimmickMan fucked around with this message at 23:02 on Oct 24, 2013 |

Nehru the Damaja posted:Can we agree that in pub play minis are doing more harm than good? If I'm playing Pyro, then yes. As any other class on any gamemode, they don't bother me at all since the health regen nerf vv Collateral Damage posted:I'd rather see engineers only have the mini, but up the cost to 120 so you can't build two without some sort of resupply. This is something I would love to see tested. I've seen a few rounds on Badwater where the Engineers had a gentleman's agreement to use the Gunslinger rather than their wrenches and it was a surreal change from the standard sentry defense at each point. It may not be the ideal choice balance-wise, but it was a nice change from the usual 5 minutes of Of course a lot of the fun for me at this point in the game is seeing new strategies, gimmicks and playstyles emerge from the game so it could of just been my own trauma-warped experience of some minsentry-infested hellscape.

I helped get him his ghost bonnet and Kory was always like "I wanna roll with the ghost gang" so in secret we made a pact to combine his hat-unboxing fortune with my market savvy to trade a Purple Energy Noh Mercy for a Ghost Tyrolean and then one night we were like "Do you believe in ghosts Kory Bing" and did the "wanna join my gang" thing and she was confused at first but then we gave her the ghost hat and I've never seen someone so excited about a hat and that's how the original Ghost Gang thing started.

Brohannes Brahms posted:Roughly 3-5 birds with one stone. This is a good post. For a long time I exclusively used the black box when playing soldier and felt it was really underrated. Three rockets is still enough to kill even a heavy if you're close enough (at which point you're probably going to get skillhosed before then with any rocket launcher). It works surprisingly well with a banner as well as far as "I only have 3 shots before I'm in trouble" loadouts are concerned. Spamming from a distance builds a little charge and gives you some health. Plus don't forget that it's +15 health per player hit, not +15 health if you hit anything. It's possible to gain 45 health with a single rocket going into a cluster of people. (The hud just layers all the +15s on top of each other.

One of my favorite "fun" loadouts is Direct Hit/Buff Banner/Whatever melee (usually the Half Zatoichi). The DH's damage boost fills a banner so quickly, and when you toot your buff horn your DH rockets suddenly one-shot Medics and below from all ranges thanks to your minicrits. The katana is there because it's fun when you pull it off and if you chop another katana user that will fill your rage meter all by itself. e: Here's my nametags. The hit ding of a DH with pitchmod reminds me of the piano chords in this song, which is also pretty fitting and I like it: Reiley fucked around with this message at 00:31 on Oct 25, 2013 |

Funny you should say this, beggars bazooka + concheror has become my go to drunk-funhaving-yet-still-helping-the-team loadout. On defense on payload you build up a charge so easily and quickly it is stupid. I can't play solly without the whip (give me support options and I will use them) but I think the escape plan would make this loadout even better. Only thing I don't like about the bazooka is how often I'll be loading it, get popped up in the air and then unleash and crater against the wall/roof.

If you can get one of your friends to pocket you with a kritzkrieg, you can turn the beggars bazooka into a supersized shotgun that absolutely murders dudes at close-mid ranges. Fun times and laughter all around especially if your playing on dustbowl, where everyone's going to be tightly packed like sardines so god help the enemy team who's going to be eating all your crit rockets head on.

I do love popping a kritz uber on a Soldier using the Bazooka. Kritzooka is perfect for wiping out whatever's coming down a chokepoint. Ideally you'll have someone else to share the charge with so it's used effectively, but if I see a Soldier playing well I'll turn him into a gibbing machine.

I'd been wondering about people using the wee booties with sticky launcher. (And half zatochi for that matter.) Would be nice if the wee booties had a gunboats style effect when sticky jumping - though probably less damage reduction than gunboats. Kind of a two-way item, depending on if you use a shield or a launcher.

If the wee booties had a gunboats style effect that would be amazing. Even with the bonus health, sticky jumping is really risky; One good jump will leave you with around 130 health, which is why I opt to use the zatochi. I've gotten quite a bit of health on killing unaware snipers. I think it is really fun, and gives a little bit more staying power to the demo while letting him be really dangerous. Also it is really good at training on using the launcher well.

I mentioned it before in the last thread but the Direct Hit/Buff Banner combo is one of the best counters to a horde of heavies too. Once you've got your banner built, those heavy medic combos won't be able to stop you, short of an ubercharge.

Replay doesn't capture paints or decals, so I'm forced to just watch my activity feed like a hawk in the hopes that some stranger will take a sweet killcam of me. Fun story: Team medic was being bossy and sort of obnoxious, but he was a pub medic and competent enough that I wasn't going to get on his case about it. Right up until he starts chewing me out in chat (in free verse), "Nameless please for the love of batman use stickies when I kritz you" At no point had I been kritzed during that match. It's always a big achievement whenever a spy can get the enemy medic to pop uber on them, but to induce infighting in the enemy team afterwards? Spy's sappin' mah reputation!

One thing that amazes me about this game is how for every gimmick there is a person out there who has devoted themselves to mastering it. I was trying the holiday punch for the first time and the second guy I tickled managed to tauntslide away while shooting at me. Then he switched to mittens heavy and proceeded to mop the floor with me. I didn't know how mittens worked and was quite confused by how he could make me laugh with every punch to the front while I punched him many times without causing him to laugh. Apparently mittens always 'crit' on other mitten-wielding heavies, but his secret was jumping which prevents the laughing from ever happening to him. It's like that demoknight bug where if a pyro airblasts you while charging it instantly recharges your targe.
