Holy Hell.

Holy poo poo this is good. Err'body watch it.

I especially love how they got around the very limited dialogue these films always have to choose from by pulling a Wall-E style plot where the characters cannot speak.

You know they say that all demons are created equal, but you look at me and you look at Pyro Jack and you can see that statement is not true, hee-ho!
I have no idea how anybody will be able to top that. When's the submission deadline?

Well that was certainly amazing. Valve should hire some of these people and just make a TF2 animated feature film, because some of these people are just getting so incredibly good with SFM.

You're gonna have to try a little harder than THAT.
There have been some really great submissions this year but unless there's a absolute gem or two that has gone unnoticed, I'm going to be really surprised if Lil Guardian Pyro isn't the overall winner, or at least top 3. That was a hair's width short of Valve quality and I love it.

The only possible critique I can have of that is that a bunch of the fight choreography between the dolls didn't really feel convincing. Didn't have a lot of force behind a lot of it, if that makes sense-I know saying the fight between dolls in a video game's film maker doesn't feel real may be a weird issue, but it felt to me kinda like they were holding their punches, y'know? Not that it isn't already better than most fighting in these things, it's a minor complaint at most.

This is the best thing :neckbeard: the only way it could have been more amazing would be if the Pyro doll fired himself out of the sentry like a human cannonball at some point.

to add to this, i often see people chasing low health enemies into a crowd (or probable crowd) for a certain kill even when it's abundantly clear that they'll die soon after. I don't know if they're blinded by the promise of ~points~ or just aren't seeing the big picture, but this generally makes no sense unless they're chasing a medic or maybe a demo/sniper that's outclassing most of the server. suiciding to kill one scout, soldier, pyro, etc is worthless, it gives your team no advantage

I know it's not what you mean, but while that's true in pubs, suiciding to kill a certain guy is a valid tactic in competitive play, especially a soldier rocket-jumping on top of the enemy medic to force an ubercharge or kill him (though obviously you get out if possible, it's just not likely depending on how well-protected the medic is.)

Here's another neat entry, this time by the maker of last year's Best Drama winner, Bad Medicine. It's perhaps slightly unfinished due to a nasty medical emergency detailed in the video description, but it's worth a mention.

So they are going to make actual saxxys and send it to them, right? Because that deserves more than an in-game item.

Before I was complaining that these things being more than just replays was harsh, but goddamn that was good.

The winner of "Best Overall" (and I'd be very surprised if this wasn't it) gets flown to Seattle to shoot the poo poo with Valve's SFM team and generally tour the place, which isn't quite a magical golden statuette of a shirtless Australian man but is still pretty neat.

My god would I play Toy Fortress 2. You could put a 10x scale 2fort, litter the ground with giant skeletonized corpses waiting out the 900 minute clock (three dead snipers on each side of the battlements, two engineers in each intelligence, a demoman spawn camping, a medic standing idle in spawn) for cover, add some mouse hole flank routes and lots of healthpacks, and I might actually enjoy a game of 2fort.

I recall a map with this gimmick, only it took place in someone's bedroom. No giant skeletons, either. :(

I really hate playing on a team with spies who are either just plain bad, or only care about backstabs. I was playing doomsday, and the enemy had a pair of level 3 sentries right next to the rocket...and the spies weren't even trying to sap them. I went spy and they both went down ridiculously easily. It's one thing if the enemy team outclasses you, but at least try and be useful. Even if you just keep a sentry down for a few seconds, that's long enough for a soldier or demoman to put it down for good without risking dying themselves.

Spy is my most played class and I pretty much ignored everyone and make a beeline towards their spawn. I'll take out the tele then work my way back, stabbing people, and finally I'll take out the sentry. If I know I'm going to die I'll sap the sentry and just start shooting at it trying to dodge people and just focusing on the sentry. I'll end up dead but at least I took that drat thing out. Then when I respawn I just make my way back towards their spawn and do it again. If you know the map it's easy and almost all well made maps have ammo drops setup in such a way that you should run out of cloak right as you reach one. If you're good at dodging and moving through the chaos you can make it to their spawn just as quickly as it takes them to reach you. Then it's sap sap sap stab stab sap shoot shoot all over again.
I've gotten kind of a reputation for this behavior.

Dying while trying to sap a sentry is a worthwhile thing as a spy. Even if you fail, you at least made the attempt and maybe gave someone a chance to finish them off. A lot of spies don't even try that, though. Earlier I had 3 spies on my team and while there were no sentries in critical locations, there WAS a trio of snipers on the other side of the map who were sniping my sentry. I could hold them off with the wrangler, but they were too far away for me to really kill. Know what would have been helpful there? A spy, backstabbing. But they weren't even managing that! After they finally took out my sentry with the help of a soldier, I went scout and got back there and killed them all myself.
