It gets better, really. The characters really grow on you except for Skye probably, and there are some cool things happening and villains set up.

Wolpertinger posted:I've only watched the first couple episodes, but I'm not really feeling it - I would be more interested in continuing this show if it wasn't forbidden to do anything remotely interesting with any character that remotely matters because of the Marvel universe being split up into fifty different pieces given to different companies that must never ever interact, but at the same time must never start making poo poo up that would contradict or even slightly impact the Avengers movieverse. Being in the the the same universe as the movies under these conditions is practically more harmful than helpful. The first four or five episodes sucked and people who legitimately thought otherwise were uncritical apologists, but on a lark I watched this most recent episode and thought it was a lot of fun. The writing isn't any better or anything, but everything kinda came together and made the characters work well. It was pretty funny with Skye and the science girl horribly failing that little pseudo-mission, too. I'll definitely watch at least the next episode. ![]()

I actually really like Frakes as a director. I've seen a bunch of Leverage, Castle, and Burn Notice episodes he's directed, and they usually end up being some of the better episodes of the season. He's also not afraid to have fun with the material, which should hopefully inject some life into this show. OTOH, he also directed Star Trek: Insurrection. ![]()

Frakes directed one of the better Dollhouse episodes, as well.

You mean the one where they basically do completely the opposite of what they would do in the TV series because it's white people and Picard gets laid by a milf?

eriktown posted:OTOH, he also directed Star Trek: Insurrection. Well that would explain why they shoe horned in Riker getting his own maneuver (ala The Picard Manuaver) that would be useful and applicable no where else in the entire universe.

Would it cost too much for them to show Hemsworth's face? That Dark Elf ship was scary as poo poo inside.
