FinalGamer posted:Oh yeah that's true, sorry, I thought you could take the other stars across the whole world but if you don't actually unlock those, you just get stuck with no way to go dontcha? Yeah, you have to unlock the Star Road warp point on the world map first to use it to jump to other locations on the world map. The world map also indicates which levels have a "secret" exit -- yellow dots only have the normal goal, red dots have a key/keyhole exit. (I don't remember if that's already been mentioned, but judging by the forest levels, it doesn't seem like it )

They don't, but IIRC they do have an indication: If there is a large 'bright' spot of land around the house they have two exits, otherwise one.

Seconding any opinion that Link's Awakening is leagues ahead of the Oracles games. I almost find it distressing you didn't play it first. Along those same lines, I'm not sure whether I'd recommend playing Link to the Past before Link Between Worlds (obviously it's been long enough since you made the video that you may have made a decision already), because while Link Between Worlds is really great and doesn't rely on continuity between games, I could see finishing Link to the Past and wanting to have a break from that world.

If your mysterious ninja game happens to be Ninja Kid (or some derivative), I'm going to go insane. Because your whole discussion reminded me of it, a game I had vague memories of playing with family members back before I could read and never knew the name of until I caught my brother playing it a few years ago and had the memories all come flooding back.

New 'N' Tasty is a reference to Abe's Oddyssey - right at the start of the game, Abe narrates the plight of his factory because the creatures that they process into food are going extinct, but management have a new snack line coming that's advertised as "New 'N' Tasty" - which turns out to be Abe's race, the Mudokons. Hence his escape and the heroic rescue of his people.

It is, in fact, a bitchin'-looking HD remake of Abe's Oddysee, as Keith found to his dismay. But Abe's Oddysee is still good Oddworld!

The balance between cars in F-Zero is weird. The pink one has the slowest acceleration but is the best in every other way, yellow has the fastest acc. but is the worst in every other way, green is just a slightly worse version of pink, and blue is SMB2 Mario.

Kyle mentioned an F1 game for the Sega Genesis, it's not F1 for the Sega Genesis is it? Neat little fact about F1 is that while it's primarily a 2D game with a faux 3D perspective a lot of the background elements are actual polygons that the Genesis is pushing out without the aid of a special chip.

My god I'd forgotten Hard Drivin existed for the longest time. Fully polygonal 3D environments, vehicles, everything. Ran at like 5 FPS on the Genesis but again, didn't use any special chips.

Metroid: Other M tried to have constant switching between 3rd and 1st person perspective as a main gameplay element. You switch by pointing the Wiimote on the screen, allowing you to manually target, otherwise you use the D-Pad (ahahaha) to move with it held sideways. I don't think it's the worst idea per se, but M:OM is abysmal in every single aspect with zero redeeming qualities whatsoever to it, so of course it's clunky as hell and completely unsuited to the kind of action game it wants (maybe?) to be.
