All this is reminding me of the South Park episode where all they do is say, "poo poo," for shock value. What we need to improve this poor show is some meecrob.

What can you say that hasn't already been said? Sworn enemies in the dark arts uniting to take care of the massive threat of a corporate takeover was an intense piece of drama I could not have predicted when this season was first announced. Who could have predicted the head of the witch hunters would rather keep his private jet than murder the respective queens of his life's antagonism? All I can say is, the final episode better have one hell of a witch battle. I mean with the actual hell involved.

The best part of that episode was Jessica Lange taking a fire axe to that CEO dude's neck. God drat that was a lot of blood! But otherwise it was another pretty dull hour. I am glad we got to see more of Frances Conroy and her theremin, though.

The mess of the plot makes the show a mystery because no one has a clue of what the gently caress is going to happen. Even by this season's own lovely standard, this episode was a loving mess. It was choppy, pointless and convoluted. These aren't even characters, they're simply creatures of the now with zero motivations outside of what is called for at that moment in time within the script. Christ.

My only optimism is that next season will be different. This show isn't whacky unique right now it's just a mess. I'm only posting because I see other people also disappointed in the execution of this seasons setting. Whenever they reveal satan or whatever is the source of people's powers, I fully expect it to be killed and resurrected off camera. Someone might also try to have sex with it

This show isn't good at the same things as a high quality, serious drama. But that doesn't make it bad, because its not a serious drama. Judging it by that standard is as misguided as like trying to compare Inglorious Basterds to Shindler's List. Community doesn't need to be Undeclared. Star Trek doesn't have to be BSG. They can all co-exist.

It's what make its unique, and for much as people bitch, it's probably what keeps drawing them back since you need to know what's going to happen next. "This loving show" posts dried up a while back. Now the incoherence has settled into dullness because the "zany" poo poo has about as much impact as watching a voodoo lights screensaver. The new post count seems to be getting smaller with each episode and I think a lot of the complainers are only watching out of a vague interest in seeing how it ends since they've already made it this far and because the reset button gets hit in two weeks. Season 1 was ridiculous too but at least it attempted to care. This is less interesting than the episodes of The Following I watched earlier tonight and let me tell you that show is loving stupid, but I still read the internet a little bit less and my wife didn't fall asleep watching Kevin Bacon overact. Queenie and LaLaurie just getting out of the car and saying "hey guyz" was lazy on a scale I've never seen.

Serious question, why has the quality of the show changed so drastically since last season? People have mentioned it could be because there were plans to do a spinoff, but I don't really buy that the show would have suffered to this extent due to that. Was Ryan Murphy not as heavily involved last season? Did they hire new writers? This is some of the worst television I've seen in years, and it's started to feel like a chore to watch. If there really was some major change in staff, is there any hope that next season will return to being watchable, or is it likely that the changes will remain permanent?

I have hope for next season since it's Jessica Lange's last and she said she prefers the darker stuff. Since she's the star of the show in general, I think -- or hope, at least -- that Murphy will give her the kind of season she wants. Plus I think Coven is getting some really, really bad reviews, so if they want to keep the show afloat after Lange leaves, they're really going to have to up the quality and get back to what they did best in the first two seasons.

Taliaquin posted:The bolded is my understanding of it. The same team of writers and directors is still there, but as I currently understand it (and I could be wrong), Murphy has had greater input during the writing process this year. He also has said that he wanted this season to veer away from the darkness of Asylum. He went a little too far, it seems, minus Delphine's actions. Okay, thanks for clearing that up. Even though around 95% of the comments I've seen made by the average viewer about this season are extremely negative, I'm kind of surprised to hear that it's actually gotten bad reviews. To be fair, I typically only read this thread and the comments section of the A.V. Club in regards to the show, but the actual reviewer for A.V gave last weeks episode an A- and this week's episode a B+, and I saw something about Entertainment Weekly giving it glowing reviews. If you're correct, maybe those two reviewers just happen to be suffering from massive head trauma.

This was the worst episode of the entire American Horror Story franchise. The only things that kept it How many episodes do we have left? Two or three? This season needs the Old Yeller treatment badly. I live in Orlando (for now), so the glee that Zoe and Kyle experienced was so loving laughable. Everyone who lives here wants to get out. Then the big "ORLANDO" sign at the top of the bus, like it said "next stop: Shangri-La" was embarrassing. Where the gently caress was Papa Legba? This show is loving schizhophrenic*. *For lack of a better word. If anyone suffers from mental illness, please do not take my use of this adjective as an affront to you.
