I don't care if rain runoff erodes all my farmland at great cost to myself, and runoff trenches are an easy, relatively cheap method of mitigation. If it's required or even just encouraged by the EPA, gently caress it.

Day by Day is seriously the funniest comic strip I have ever read, no wonder I always seem to remember everything from it. Even though very little of the humor is intentional.

Wait, who?

Well lucky for us, the majority of fines from important EPA regs are not meaningfully enforced by federal judges.

I mean, if you think about it, what are regulations even for? It's like, I can contaminate local groundwater if I want to. I can let a baby fly out a car window if I want to. Red tape, booooo.

It's my right to whatever I want even if it hurts me! *pollutes ground water, neighbors new born child has crippling birth defects* See that LIEbrals? I disregarded regulations and nothing bad happened to me! That's honestly about as far as their thinking goes. Because something bad doesn't immediately happen to themselves when they disregard a regulation it means a regulation is BIG GUBMIT stepping on ARE FREEDOMS. Their thought process is on par with a rat given the choice between a switch that will release another rat or a switch that gives them cheese instantly while electrocuting the other rat. Instant in the moment self gratification at the expense of anything and everyone else. It also explains extreme climate change denial as well!

Trick question: Muir's story arcs always involve Muir having a perpetual meltdown, hence the inane ramblings.

It's kind of like a Ramirez cartoon. If you read it literally and live in the real world, it won't make sense. But if you believe the way he does and turn your brain off, you get the gist.

The difference is that Muir's belief system is like a constantly shifting morass of buzzwords and vague, half-constructed concepts, and if you stop watching for even a second you lose track entirely of what the hell everything was supposed to be because you've missed the intermediate steps between knockin' out mah Roosevelts and flipping EPA cars. At least with Ramirez you can just turn on Fox or something and pretty much get what he's going for.

Anything more complicated than "Liberals bad" comes from whatever blog he read this week shoehorned in so previous events aren't really critical to the story. Remember Muir himself often doesn't remember his own plot and lots of times references to previous events have months of not being talked about at all.

Who knows, you might even get an ultra-badass vertical eye scar like the ultimate wish-fulfillment everyman that sticks it to The Man even when it's actively detrimental to himself, Zed!

I got one from smacking my face into the edge of a metal bench when I was little. It was right in the typical badass kewl scar position. Tragically, it went away within a month. I could have been even more of an IRL animu character.

Edit: Basically, odds are if it was deep enough to leave a permanent scar, you probably lost the eye in the process.

So what you're saying is that Muiry Sue applies scar make-up every morning because he thinks it makes him look cool. That would explain it constantly shifting eyes.

Well, he got it from "serious maxillofacial, thoracic and cranial lacerations -- a drat horror story" from when Blowjob Russian's helicopter crashed in a sandstorm and then Zed had to "march 25 clicks" with his skull fractured, spurred ever onward by the thought of getting to grope his waifu again, and then while lying in a stretcher aboard a helicopter Zed shot a bad guy right through the bad guy's Koran to save Blowjob Russian's life. This happened in March-April 2011.

Eh, what the hell, here's the story -- it's harder to follow on Muir's site because of non-storyline strips interspersed as well as a giant missing-person flier attached to the bottom of several of the strips. I think the dude at the CIA talking about how "the Z-man always turns up" is actually my favorite bit of it.
