Heresiarch posted:so let's say that instead of gox being solvent or insolvent, there is a third option: it just goes poof and everybody's goxcoins and goxbux vanish into the ether it really depends on what's the actual value of the assets trapped in gox; if it's high it's better to let it wash over the other exchanges to crash everything, if it's low the reputation loss of the biggest best exchange imploding will destroy the confidence of non true believers and p crash the other exchanges too then again if they just bolt, in a week you'll hear how this is good for bitcoin because there are now less coins (never mind that they are probably already back in circulation left and right after the thieves [both the exploiters and gox] nicked them)

people just should go protest against fiat chargebacks in front of big banks, force them to close or move to fake offices in fear of being annoyed

[–]casascius_throwaway 6 points 52 minutes ago I don't even have btc in gox & I want to fly out there to help protest. Mr. Karpeles will go down in history as the slimiest, shadiest dirtbag in the history of bitcoin. In the future, kids will read about this douche in their finance text books. He deserves time in a PMITAP. [–]dcwsco 19 points 1 hour ago Jesus. I hate to say it but someone is really going to end up hurting Mark for this. That is not right but if you keep slapping even a timid person in the face they are going to snap eventually. [–]popeyepaul 5 points 41 minutes ago Mark has stolen uncounted millions of dollars from people. Some of which might still be bitcoin millionaires. If Mark doesn't end up in jail like he should, he'll spend the rest of his life looking over his back. [–]casascius_throwaway 4 points 49 minutes ago He's going to have to spend all this money he's raking in from arbitrage on security guards - for life. [–]rangeoflight 3 points 45 minutes ago I would not shed a tear for his untimely demise. I do feel bad that he got screwed by the USA gov't when they confisicated his Dwolla account, but that does not excuse lying to Gox customers for months and also doing irreparable harm to bitcoin. [–]revelation60 4 points 52 minutes ago I don't know if they seriously think they can get away with stealing our money and fleeing to a new location. They must know that at least some of their customers are hardened criminals that have just lost tens of thousands of dollars. If they don't give our money back, they will probably be dead in a few months. [–]idiotic_fallacy 3 points 47 minutes ago 3 nerds outside his office and he gets scared. What kind of cuckoo land does he live in. What happens when the S Roaders come a huntin for his fat rear end? What do you think? Does he piss his pants or shat himself first? [–]UnderpaidBIGtime 2 points 34 minutes ago I have money in there and I just hope this guy Mark or whatever he is knows what he is about. Otherwise manhunt will be his only option.

its been close to 10 hours since this screen shot, lets see what progress they've made... wow thats the furthest a buttcoiner has ever made it away from their basement dwelling, success all round. waking up to gox being ~150 also brought joy to my face, and all the other exchanges are down < $600 too. a glorious day for all

Let's just start pretending mtgox doesn't exist, and move on! There are so many better things about bitcoin to discuss! (self.Bitcoin) submitted 2 hours ago* by Imperatorny Today's MtGox release put the final nail in its coffin. Let's just discard MtGox entirely from our everyday discussions and move on. Today's release reminds me of a crime scene, where the crowd is watching, and a police officer shouts "Move away people, nothing to see here"

they can't just "discard" gox though because the day traders have all their "money" tied up in it and there's basically no volume on any of the other exchanges because anyone not day trading on gox is hoarding
