Dustbowl 2-1 I have trouble explosive jumping up to the point sometimes because I hit the skybox. One explosive should not be enough to hit the skybox.

Somebody was complaining on a Valve server earlier about getting teamswitched to the losing side, this was a response to his asking why it happened:

Trade offers is the best thing Valve ever added, because it lets you trade without having to actually talk to the terrible people who make up the TF2 community. Re skyboxes, Sawmill has an annoying bug where the skybox is lower in some areas, like if you sticky jump from the spawn balcony towards the enemy side lake at certain angles you hit an invisible wall in the skybox just before the mill entrance.

Dang, the price on earbuds has gone up over the last few years? So how would I go about selling mine for real-world money? I assume it'll be a bit difficult since I don't have a history so people will have no reason to trust me, while I also want to be suitably cautious.

I still get random direct trade offers in-game (The "X would like to trade with you" kind) sometimes when I join a server and trot out an eye catching item or something. Whenever I get a random invite I accept it and then tab back into the game, seeing how long the player screams in text chat for me to answer him or until steam auto-closes the trade due to timeout. They just keep. On. Yelling.

Does anyone else think trading for regular weapons is weird? I see people in games asking about stuff like The Original or Huntsman and getting replies like "2 scrap". I usually just open a trade and gift it to the person, but I see so many people trying to get 2 weapons for 1 or scrap for a regular gun. Why?

# ? Mar 7, 2014 22:01 |

Market forces at work. The value of any weapon is 1/2 scrap. However the value of a specific weapon would be more especially for something like the original which are desired by lots of people, but drop at the same rate as something in low demand like the kritzkrieg.

2 scrap for a gun has been the standard price for as long as trading has been in the game. It's one of the few things that hasn't changed with the times. The "value" is that the guy who is receiving the gun doesn't have to wait for Valve's RNG to hand it to them, and the seller gets a bit of profit.

So I ended up getting a cheap crafty hair for my scout load out, and it turns out it had a bunch of halloween spells on it, including the one that lets it flash between green, yellow and brown. It is incredibly ugly but it goes well with the load out! Kind of makes me think of Cyclops with a terrible hairdo.

Man, i bought a Freezecam Taunts strange parts, and it turns out it only works for cosmetics. That kinda sucks. It would suck less if they actually got around to making a Something Special For Someone Special Strangifier though.

Also this is probably the thousandth time someone has brought this up but if I could make one tiny little tweak to this game I would take away the ability for miniguns to randomly crit. It's so frustrating as pyro when you're trying to land your fourth flare on a heavy at long distance and all of a sudden his stream of minigun bullets turns into a sniper laser of death

Most Sniper-Heavies that I encounter are new players who panic when they're set on fire and duck away when I hit them with a flare hammering the MEDIC! button, so I never even really try to hit them with 4 flares in a row.

I guess the pistol can do this too but you generally don't see people getting critical pistol kills across battlements on 2fort Cybershell fucked around with this message at 01:30 on Mar 8, 2014 |

It's the perfect storm of frustrating crit death because it's the strengths of all other hitscan weapons with none of their drawbacks.

Pretty sure that was different from this. There's been a ton of Japan-themed maps but the assets at work here are way more recent and haven't been put into a payload map before. This stuff was all put together for an Arena/KOTH map called Suijin, which is linked at the bottom of the content pack and is pretty nifty. This is more or less a public release of the map's assets (with some neat new stuff too). The more you know!

MvM talk: Valve should really include an additional upgrade path for the soldier backpacks that increases their effective range. It would make them more useful in the later waves, and it shouldn't be that hard considering all they have to do is already done with the dispenser range upgrade.

nerdbot posted:There already is a finished map that looks like that! Scroll to the bottom and click those download links. Suijin's pretty neato. Just a word of warning: last I checked (granted the was a while ago) the map is pretty badly optimized. Yes it's full of new assets but it's still a 100 MB bsp, or 50 MB bsp.bz2. All the roofs are made out of corrugated polygons so they're like a billion polys each, and I don't know if she ever put LODs on them to turn them into flat sheets when you get far enough away. What I'm saying is if you don't have a beastly computer, you might get framerate issues. I haven't played it since the buildings got textured, but this is the same person who made pl_escarpment, so if that map gives you performance troubles, I'd watch out. Don't get me wrong though, it's a gorgeous map and it's a ton of fun to play in, so you probably should download it anyway because I'd bet it's going to come up on servers a lot. UPDATE: just played it and got ~30 fps, vs ~40 fps on Badwater (yes my computer's not great). It's definitely taxing but I think it's better than Escarpment.
