She looks pretty fun. Himiko is kinda scary in battle mode, although I dunno...it feel a little strange to have her fighting for some reason. Then again, it also felt strange that she WASN'T fighting in the first game, seeing as how she wasn't particularly different from any of the other kids. Fuuka at least has a weak constitution and a Persona built around protecting her and scanning around, so it was sort of sensible there, but Rise's just a pop idol. Maybe combat would risk her getting a visible scratch and ruining her career?

She's got Haggar's rapid-fire fists... and a mic rivalling The Pipe in size. Here's hoping she has a ground-bouncing j2b!

Here some more info on the golden arena mode. http://www.siliconera.com/2014/04/24/persona-4-arena-ultimax-dlc-story-rpg-lite-arena-level/ Also to note for first print editions in Japan, there will be a DLC storyline included. Also on the main website, there are two characters yet to be revealed. So I'm thinking it will be Ken, and possibly Adachi or Fuuka. I put one of the names in spoiler tags for those who still haven't completed Persona 4 for some reason. DarkstarIV fucked around with this message at 14:59 on Apr 24, 2014 |

Maybe combat would risk her getting a visible scratch and ruining her career? Maybe it comes from their actual personas; everyone else in the investigation team is the type to face their problems head-on in some fashion. Yu and Yosuke have the courage to stand up to a foe they might not be able to beat, Chie and Kanji are both very willing to fight for what they believe in, Naoto deals in stripping things down and challenging them, and Yukiko's whole arc in P4 was in grasping some agency in her own life. In contrast, Rise is probably the least willing and able to actually confront a problem by herself. Indeed, all she wanted to do is hang back, have friends and take it easy for once in her life, so it makes sense that her powers would be in keeping with that, being more support-focused and reliant on those friends she wants to have.

DarkstarIV posted:Here some more info on the golden arena mode. I wish those two last characters will be P2 characters (Preferably Tatsuya and Eikichi, but literally anyone from 2 would be amazing), but if they have to be P3-4 cast members I really wouldn't mind getting Koromaru in. Maybe throw in P3 Protag as a big final act story twist kind of deal? Literally anyone would be preferable to Ken and Fuuka.

Hitbox should never be an issue, make the character bigger, add some armor to them, anything that makes it necessary to make the hitbox bigger if it needs to be. A common complaint I've seen for not adding Jubei to Blazblue is his hitbox would be too small and that's not an excuse because he fights with armor, or you can make him bigger if need be. It's a fighting game, as long as you're not making them giants or midgets you can take some liberty with character sizes.

There's also Iggy, the original dog in a fighting game (afaik). Iggy had a really small hitbox but his stand's hitbox was huge.

AradoBalanga posted:Eh, if Capcom can make Amaterasu work in MvC3, Koromaru could work in Ultimax since he'd have a near-identical hitbox. The two aren't really comparable in any fashion. MvC3's hurt and hitboxes (or rather spheres) work wildly differently to ASW style hit/hurtboxes. ASW's are far more of a precise science, and even minor deviations from the norm can gently caress with balance in some pretty dramatic ways. That leads to things like the plethora of character-specific combos that Arcsys fighters tend to have. To use BlazBlue as an example, the character on the left, despite being ever so slightly shorter than the one on the right, has a hitbox which, though still within the bounds of her sprite, still gently caress with combos enough that several characters have to take huge hits to damage output and setups to make their combos work on her and her alone. I'm not saying there isn't a way around that, but just saying that because one company made it work so that means it won't be a problem is a little disingenuous. MvC3 had some pretty generous loving hitboxes though, I mained Ammy in that game. Mitsuru's 5A would miss Koro entirely unless they made him loving huge, which would be a massive problem. fake edit: beaten, sort of

I was just thinking maybe Koromaru could have a really vulnerable/always present Persona like Shadow Labrys so you could Persona break him relatively easily but that's a cool idea too I guess (it's better)

Bunch of balance changes and all that business in that patch too. Shadow characters (clone ones that is) got +2000 HP across the board. Labrys got a few nice buffs so she might not be unbelievably dogshit terrible at least. It would be very strange if they didn't include Ken, since he's the last (living) member of SEES they haven't done yet. But if they add "Shadow Adachi" to explain how he's there despite being in jail, they could go nuts and make Shadow Shinjiro or who knows what.

Excels posted:It would be very strange if they didn't include Ken, since he's the last (living) member of SEES they haven't done yet. With Adachi being such a regular character still, despite his defeat in P4, I wonder if he'll come back as a villain in later games. It'd be kind of cool if they bring back the ability to use Personas in the real world, and Adachi breaks out of jail to go and, I dunno, join Nyarlathotep's evil motorcycle gang.

The idea is that in the real world Adachi is recovering, now that he's been locked away from all the Shadow/Inaba business his madness has cleared up a little, which is why he writes to Yu at the end of P4 saying there are still details that bother him as he runs over it all in his head. So the one in P4A2 is a Shadow clone or something, not the real Adachi (who is behind bars)

Adachi was resigned to his loss at the end of P4, there's no point in bringing him back as a villain. His appearances from after that will probably be strictly from other villains taking his form or relegated to events from P4 like the DLC Campaign coming for this game. He's going to be playable it seems, we're just waiting for official word at this point.
