pisshead posted:How do I take out a sentry as a spy if it's guarded by an engie? If I put a sapper on, he just knocks it off then shoots me. If I try to stab him or shoot him, the sentry kills me. You can backstab an engie and sap his sentry before it kills you. The sentry rotates either clockwise or counter clockwise when it detects you, just rotate around it the same direction. You can't do that very long but long enough to switch to your sapper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1K2vVHYYPY

That works somewhat for taking out minis as a scout too. Run right past it and circle tightly around it. You can run slightly faster than it can turn. Land your shots and you won't take much damage. It's hard to time though and not always reliable if taking fire from other sources.

If you have some way of communicating with your team, it can be very effective to have a few teammates (demomen and soldiers, preferably) jump around a corner and attack right when you sap.

Personally the best moment from the last Funhavers for me was when we were playing the Basketball map and bouncing around with the Sticky Jumper, especially one point where I Goomba Stomped 3 people in a row, we should do that again(heck we could do a Space Jam themed Funhavers, that could be fun)

This hasn't been necessary to pay attention to in forever. You used to have to do it because of the long as gently caress backstab animation, but that's been fixed for years. Just be fast about it.

Adding to the spy chat: Sap the Engineer's teleporter and telefrag when he repairs. Sap and then pistol the engineer. It might confuse him enough to chase you and not knock the sapper off or you might kill him if you're a decent aim.

Spy is not a good class to take out an engineer nest. There are still too many little tells that make playing spy obvious, like the legless demoman bug, and the fact that you have to walk right up to the nest means you'll usually spend more time getting to it with a higher risk of failure and a lower risk of surviving afterward. You're better off just concentrating on killing the medic or whatever player is carrying the other team, and letting your demoman take out the sentry nest.

pisshead posted:The thing is, he can knock a sapper off quicker than I can shoot him down, even with a diamondback crit and not missing any shots. Another fun thing to do is position yourself so that the Engineer is between you and the sentry. Sentry fire damages the Engineer, so it'll kill him trying to get to you.

Me and another guy realized we both had the laugh taunt on scout so we (and a third guy) went around having fun laughing at the other team on Gravelpit. Next map (junction): 6 engineers, 3 pyros, including one who talked about how good he was the whole round because he could kill 3 loving around scouts and the normal valve server fare.

Truly the best players are those that will pause and type "owned" in the chat feed after killing you once, never mind the fact that you were about to dominate them with the Heavy's boxing gloves. Thanks to valve's quick play changes a while ago there's a lot more populated servers around in Australia but most of that new population seems to be that special type of player who manage to be worse at the game than bots. I can feel myself getting worse at the game myself with every ill-gotten Rainblower kill. VV This also. Frankly fucked around with this message at 14:01 on Apr 24, 2014 |

A simple "noob down" + taunt whenever you kill that one douche spouting nothing but homophobic and racial slurs is still the best ("noob super down" for dominations). it's clearly impossible to take seriously but it never fails to make them melt down and/or ragequit

In the vein of "no heals for X" moments, I was on a team with 5 snipers as a medic, when a pyro got through the line and lit a bunch of them on fire. I did the responsible thing and used the Meet the Medic taunt, letting them all burn to death. Then I got backstabbed, dropping uber. Tales From a Valve Server.

It'd be neat if you were able to specify which region you actually want to play in when there are cross continent players involved. When I hit up matchmaking with anywhere between 1 and 5 NA folks in my party, it seems to be almost a coin flip as to whether I drag them to Europe or not, irrespective of whether I'm party leader or not.

I had a sniper (his team's 4th) raging at me earlier about how soldier takes no skill and that I wasn't actually any good for killing him. He had 5 points, so that provocation was probably the most he helped out his team all match; from then on I was actively rocket jumping over the medic and his pocket if I saw a chance to take this guy out and taunt.
