I'm using the +5 "welcome back" gear set that seems incredibly overpowered for my level to plow through content before it disappears in a month. At the risk of being forced to run around in horribly out dated gear, how hard is the gear progression as you're leveling up past the late teens?

Trivially easy as long as you aren't trying to get every single set. Before the XP revamp I was able to upgrade my armor regularly up to level 60, and managed to complete a decent 60 set by about level 61. You'll get a few sets for free anyway. Level 70 is when it becomes a completely ridiculous grindfest which I am thankfully avoiding for now because Evie doesn't really have an amazing reason to upgrade past Wonderland even at level 80. Although it gets so bad at 70 + obtaining poo poo like the 10 Enthusiastic scrolls I'll need to finish my armor set and 70/80 armor sets I've pretty much given up all hope of getting substantially better equipment in this game until they release a whole new tier and this stuff becomes trivial if that ever happens.

A side effect is that it's now borderline impossible for completely new players to get money since the only way to get money is to put drops on the market and whoops it's not as if those drops are worth anything to the people who have money.
The only people who need those drops are low level people, who now have even less money, so prices on early items goes...further down.

Since the patch, I noticed that drops from Perilous Ruins and Hoarfrost Hollow now NPC for 0 gold. I also noticed that equipment drops that NPC for 0 gold cannot be dismantled. Today, while checking the Vindictus forums for today's bingo missions, I found out that this is part of an attempt to frustrate gold-farming bots. In addition to making low-level drops worthless, low-level missions give absolutely no money as a reward. A side effect is that it's now borderline impossible for completely new players to get money since the only way to get money is to put drops on the market and whoops it's not as if those drops are worth anything to the people who have money.
Nexon: Kind of Dumb.
Yeah, but they also *hand* you everything you'd ever need till level 20 when you start getting money.
I am leveling a Hurk and didn't need gold at all. As a side note, they completely changed the Anile quest poo poo and its a little strange.

Free graces is pretty much the best possible event to get in terms of fun. 2x EXP and panda fursuits don't quite compare to being able to flip out on hard bosses without worrying about dying. Not that I think Premium Enchant Runes suck; they're a really good thing to get, too.

Premium Weapon Fusion Rune A magical rune that can change the appearance of weapons or shields bound to you. Limited to the weapons or shields that you can equip, it can be used to synthesize the appearance of weapons or shields of the same type. This process will always succeed, but you can't use it on identical items. Using this on unbound items will bind them to you.

Details Fishing in the Ignacht River, you’ll have a chance to get the Sunken Ignacht Treasure Box. This box contains an abundance of riches, and will randomly generate an item, including, but not limited to the following items:
