EDIT: You know what, disregard that. PBS is publicly funded, whereas Public Access TV is more airtime for anyone. Related, but separate concepts. Keep it to the previous examples. ... but a campy Bob Ross painting game, or a terrible educational program, would both fit. Both had analogs on Public Access. Public Access is basically just even more poorly funded PBS. There's plenty of crossover between the ideas.

You drive along a desert road with children inside who are constantly trying to climb out the windows of the schoolbus. Swerve wildly to keep them inside while avoiding roadkill, other cars, and while staying on the road if you get a chance.

Oh man, been waiting for this, definitely want to get in on this this year, hopefully with a team. My skills are pretty wide, I'm more of a generalist than a specialist. I'm pretty decent at editing images, doing writing and plotting events and ideas. I know basic principles of coding and very limited amounts of actual code. I'm a pretty quick learner though and if it's something new I can pick it up and be up to speed in probably less than a day. I'm looking either to jump onto another team, of if I can find people interested I want to start a team. I could use some art people and music people I also want to mention this program which I've been using for a couple of months. It has it's limitations like all programs, but I'm pretty happy with it. It's called Construct 2, you can find the website for it here.

I might throw my hat into the ring as a part-time developer (I don't know what July is going to look like yet), but I definitely want to sponsor some prizes because this is awesome. $50 each. Show Us Your Privates: I've learned a ton by reading other people's code, let us see yours! Game that releases source code showing off the most novel or useful technique, under a BSD/Apache license. Will want help from actual gamefolk to determine what's really useful. Unfunny Web Joke: lots of games are delivered over the web, but most don't use the web. Pull in YouTube content, have quests to get Twitter retweets, some FB integration that doesn't make me angry, generate levels from web page structure, mash up some Wikipedia stuff; most of the Internet is public-access quality, mine that gold! Best per judges' rankings, is-that-webby-enough at my unimpeachable discretion. Go Big or Go Home: best game (per judges' rankings) that's backed by a before July 1.

I'm going to force myself on this so what the hell, that I'll submit a game for this year for sure. I'm torn between a murder mystery game at a PATV station and a Public Access Tycoon game right now, but I've got 3 months to iron out some ideas and a few other possibilities. Also when I think of public access TV I think of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b4Z5Kg08PY

I'm in for this year as well. Thinking about trying to emulate a television experience by having a repeating "broadcast" that drops the player at varying points in the game's progession depending on how much time has passed since the last broadcast started, and then once it's finished it loops back to the beginning. The true television experience of catching a show partway through and needing to watch a rerun to see what happened in the first half.Shalinor posted:Who wants a 2-month Unity Pro license? So I'm pretty sure I finally have the idea I'm going to run with. You play as an MRA who has to get to the studio to spread your message to the people, all the while fighting feminazis and gender-traitors who are trying to stop you. I am not sure yet if it's going to be more roguelike or more classic RPG style or what yet, but that's the base. I also think I want to avoid actual physical violence, especially because of all the recent gender violence making headlines, and a classic RPG would probably be easier to show abstract combat using arguments as weapons instead of a roguelike where you're just bumping into people etc. And I will for making a game if that makes me qualify for a prize, even though I'm a one-man team and will likely not even come close to a ranking game.

So I to clarify, half of the the games I have offered to will go to the best Twine game (as determined by the judges). The winner will get to chose what games they want. Then the best game made by someone who has not made a game before (as determined by the judges) will get the half of the rest. The second place game made by someone who has not made a game before (as determined by the judges) will get the remaining games. In the event that no one makes a Twine game, then the pool transfers to the no game before winnings. If for some reason, neither of these conditions are met, I'll just post the codes in the thread and hang my head in shame.

If folks are still looking for inspiration like I am, it turns out that in Minnesota we have webstreams for the Minneapolis public access stations: Channel 16 - Connect: Community affairs/events, government & politics, local issues, public conversations, news & information Channel 17 - Create: Arts & culture, lifestyle topics (including sports, documentaries & slice-of-life, humor & comedy, food, families and parenthood, and so on), and youth & education Channel 75 - Inspire: Spiritual & religious programming, questions of philosophy & existence Channel 17 seems to be a goldmine of the bizarre. Christian rap into ninjas into riverdancing in the span of 30 minutes. I'm ashamed we missed "Old-School Championship Wrestling: Lucha Libre" earlier (though it repeats) and I doubt I'll be awake to see "Finnish Talk and Variety Show: Nisswa Staman 2013" later tonight.

I really need to do this but I have no idea what I want to do, and if I am left to my own devices I will probably not do anything at all. So I could use some people who have an Idea but could use a Javascript programmer for web or Unity to make it live. if I was going to do something on my own I would totally use nothing but stock media period. but late July will also have me moving out of my apartment and back with my parents since I cant really stay out on my own without a job so I don't know how things are going to be for me from the 21st through the 26th NextTime000 fucked around with this message at 04:14 on Jun 9, 2014 |

Is it legit for someone entering to also offer up prizes? If so, I offer a copy of my ridiculously huge texture collection on a DVD to the best entry from a newcomer that uses some form of 3D. 2.81gb of all sorts of textures, mostly with diffuse/normal/spec/height etc maps. Sort of a weird prize, but I wanted to chip in something gamedev-related and it's what I've got.
