Yeah isn't lox a salt-cured unsmoked salmon? Anyway it's part of lots of Scandinavian cuisines, including Swedish. There was a killer gravlax recipe in Aquavit by Marcus Samuelson. Any kind of non-cooked salmon is usually pretty tasty. But back to the point yes pretty much all delis are awesome, italian, polish, jewish, german, whatever. I just tried Schweinshaxe in Germany with sauerkraut and whipped potatoes and it was also good.
