This is just something I wanted to bring to the community's attention, so people can better understand why Bitcoin isn't a "ponzi scheme" or some kind of long term bubble/delusion.

Even if Bitcoin remained at $400 (or $40) forever, and only had 1 million users globally forever, it would still be incredibly useful.

The growth is just an added bonus of being a computer network & currency with marginal utility that exceeds other currencies.

they are right though, bitcoin is equally useful if it's $4, $400, or $40000: not at all, because the price has no effect on the inherent flaws of bitcoin

Hey there /r/buttcoin moderators,
I'm Samuel Barnes, a writer for cryptocoinsnews.com (http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/author/samuel-barnes).
I am working on an impartial article offering a rare opposing view to the bitcoin evangelists, of course I will be covering the viewpoint expressed by buttcoin and was wondering if any of you would be willing to comment or answer questions about your opinion of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency?

You can contact me through reddit but will get to me faster through my email:

Thanks, Samuel Barnes

yes i would love to give an interview to your impartial website crypto coins news. i'm sure your readers are clamoring to talk to the buttcoin boys

It does because we can offer customization—many different types of products. Today we have logged in our master database over 2,000 skews [or types of products] that we can go ahead and print with 3-D printing.

why yes it is totally plausible that a quarter billion 1000$ transactions would get honoured and transferred out of visa's accounts, that even if somehow they were that visa actually has a quarter trillion liquid ameroes just chillin' to pay out, and that the system wouldn't just flip the gently caress out after a few hundred transactions to a single random account

or that visa doesn't have a complete backup of it's ledgers on all 5 continents and probably the moon

gotta love the bias, "if my poo poo can get irreversibly stolen in bitcoins, surely visa can't have an easy and convenient way to ctrl-z poo poo"

I think their point is that VISA technically has the power to do it, which they do...sorta. They would need like literally a thousand people to not be whistle blowers and they would gain nothing, but very technically bitcoin is protected from this non-problem.

these fake charges are showing up on people's monthly bills, right? there is no possibility of secrecy here. visa would face almost immediate massive lawsuits and criminal investigations. and there would indeed be total chaos in the financial sector as (1) millions of people justifiably refused to pay their credit-card bills until a massive audit was completed and (2) umpteen different governments Expressed Their Concern and Got Involved

meanwhile, sure, the blockchain can't just post massive spurious charges without a 51% attack, but exchanges, wallets, and (theoretical) credit providers sure can. or, since they're evidently about to commit obvious fraud, they can just add themselves to the endless list of conmen who've run off with everything. their customers can sue, but good luck recovering anything from some bulgarian mobster using an assumed name when you apparently can't even recover anything from Karpeles, and when there is literally no authority with the ability to reverse a transaction by fiat
