I think this happens in either Xtro or it's sequel.

This should be easy for a Dr. Who fan. There was an episode where there was a space station and all the men -- soldiers, guards, something kind of military-ish -- working there were addicted to some kind of substance and were constrained to follow orders by way of their addiction, and something about them having to maintain a mystical creature that slept aboard the station who woke once every n time period and performed n task, which kept time itself from ending, but inadvertently they had created some sort of time loop and as I recall, the time loop effect was kind of neatly depicted in the screenplay or something. I'm sure I've got some of the details wrong, but that should be enough for somebody who actually knows the series.

I know this isn't a Dr. Who thread, but I figured somebody here would know.

Where do you get these wonderful toys?
Years ago, maybe mid 90's on VHS, I saw a movie where a cop goes in for a routine examination. He talks to a guy in the waiting room who is there for a physical for a job (bus driver I think). The guy he talks to in the waiting room is worried about failing the drug test so he switches the names on the files and walks out with a clean bill of health. The cop, however, is told that he has about 3 weeks to live or something similar.

The cop is set to retire in a couple of weeks and realizes that if he dies after he retires, his life insurance pays out significantly less than if he dies on the job. So in order to take care of his family after he dies he proceeds to take dangerous calls in the hopes of biting it on the job.

I think the movie was a comedy (I seem to recall some slapstick moments) and was made in either the late 80's or early 90's. Ideas?

It's a long story
Just the other day I saw a Japanese movie on tv (in japan) . It was about a young boy growing up in Japan at the start of world war II. I didn't understand much but it seemed interesting and I'd like to try to track it down with subtitles.

Memorable scenes include the boy flattening out a fork and breaking one of the prongs. He uses it the rest if the movie. His father was a tailor, and a post card of the Empire State Building seemed important to the plot.

I saw a movie a while ago that I really enjoyed, but I can't remember the name of it.

Two characters in the whole movie. They meet at a cafe for what seems like a date, but it ends up being a suicide pact. They then move to a motel room where they've agreed to kill each other simultaneously.

My wife and I need help with a zombie movie.

All we really remember is that the survivors are told get to the rooftop of a certain building.

When the main actress gets there, she hallucinates being rescued, but then snaps back and she ends up not making it.

Here's a tricky one: 1940s (?), American b&w film about columns of rock that emerge throughout the country and threaten to destroy civilisation (probably because "the H-Bomb"). Horror/thriller/sci-fi vibe. Saw it on British television in the early 1980s (hence not remembering the title). Is this possibly the only geological horror movie in existence? Maybe. Can you identify it for me (or was it a weird tonsillitis hallucination)?

The earth has music for those who listen.
I'm wondering if any of you can identify a movie for me I saw many years ago. From the production quality I think it was a mid-low budget movie from the 90s (decent made-for-TV quality). There were several teenagers hiding out in a cabin in the woods. They seemed to range in age from about 13 to 17 or so. One was a kind of tall goofy looking red-headed guy who had a crush on what I think was the only girl there. At night time the bad guy shows up, he was shorter than the tall guy but older, he looked like he may have been hispanic or middle eastern but maybe not. I think he was the boyfriend of or at least very possessive of the girl. He is carrying a shovel and comes up behind the red headed guy, I THINK while he is professing his love to the girl, and hits him across the back of the head with the shovel. The girl screams and the boy starts looking around blindly calling her name like he hears her screaming from far away. He stumbles around in a kind of brain damaged state for several seconds then falls over, dead presumably.

Sorry it's not much, but that few minutes of that movie really stuck with me and I'd be curious to see it again now.

Okay, Google has failed me, but I'm hoping someone here can help.

I caught a movie on HBO or a similar channel in the mid 90s while home sick from school. It seemed like it was from the 80s but could be from the late 70s or early 90s as well.

It was about a group of people looking for several different caches of money that someone had hidden. I think the man who hid them died and this was how he was handling the inheritance, but I'm not 100% on this.

I do remember the group of people finding either a cache or a clue in a fish tank. I also remember a kid playing a video game in the same house and the high score being another clue. I seem to remember that every time they find some money, it gets destroyed. I recall them finding some under a bridge or some other structure and when they try to recover it, it scatters down to random people below.

I can't recall if the people were working against each other or not, but I think they were more or less working as a group. Sorry that I don't remember more.

Edit: Thanks, that's the one.

"That’s cheating! You know the rules: once you sacrifice something here, you don’t get it back!"

It was a movie from probably the late 90s and I think it was bad.

There's some African American dude who I want to say was a janitor or yard worker or something, but he's really deep and thoughtful. He ends up getting a show on American television where he teaches the nation to be spiritual again. One scene he makes everyone in the country go out and stand on their lawn or something dumb.

Also a woman comes out and claims he fathered children with her then vanished, but when push comes to shove she admits that he didn't and he was the sweetest most amazing guy she ever knew and I think just did yard work for her one summer.

I THINK there was a subplot about rich white capitalists trying to destroy him because spiritualism doesn't make money, or trying to make him sell things, I don't really remember. The whole thing might have been a Jesus metaphor, but again, not sure.

80s Italian horror flick. IIRC an archaeologist is at some castle researching and she has nightmares about the place as it was back in the day. I thought the archaeologist was played by Janet Agren but it's not her. Only other thing I remember is some medieval dudes very graphically having someone drawn and quartered. It's not any of the Blind Dead/Templar movies or Burial Ground.

That sounds a lot like Demonia A guy getting drawn and quartered happens towards the end of the movie, except replace medieval dudes with trees.

I have a couple:

1. 1994-1998 on TV or VHS. It centered around a woman living by herself in an isolated cottage. I think this was supposed to take place in Europe around WWII. A group of soldiers or one soldier stumbles across her home. Either way she starts a relationship with one, and the rest of the movie focuses on that. I seem to remember a lot of uneasiness on her part, so I think she was coerced into the relationship somehow. She could have been held hostage in the cabin. She ends up trying to kill him. Can't remember if it was successful or not, but there was a scene where she strips naked to seduce the soldier into an embrace, then a shot of her holding a knife behind her back.

2. Only saw a clip of this movie on a show I watched nearly ten years ago. Black and white film, probably 1940's to early 60's. A woman watches a man struggling down the stairs into the room where she's standing. He's clutching his chest like he's having a heart attack, or maybe he's been poisoned. The medicine/antidote is right next to the woman, but she does not move an inch to help him. She just watches him stumbling through the room to get it. I think he finally collapses and dies.

I remember the woman being very poised throughout the whole thing. I think the narrator of the show made a comment about her cold piercing glare or whatever.

Obscure, low budget sci-fi film from mid 1980s. British or Canadian, I think? Set on a Big Mysterious Dimly-Lit Spaceship. Can't remember how the heroine got on the ship, but the ship is run by a mysterious unseen lady and a wispy dude who is her "cross sexual clone" that the lady created to be her eventual mate. [Ick.] The ship's defense systems try and kill the heroine. The wispy dude has an impaired immune system, so even though he falls for the heroine he can't leave his bubble and help her directly. Eventually he's able to confront his mother/clone and he yells her secret name "Adara!" then takes off with the heroine in an escape pod. Any idea?
