I wonder why Christopher Lloyd was such a holdout on the likeness rights. Perhaps his asking price was too high.

I was mostly just going for the poo poo joke that their balls already defy physics regularly. I assume you're right though. Super heavy ball, super light ball, something along those lines. Never even been that huge of a TAF fan, but I do want to see it done. I'm at 356 hours of TPA and counting. Adding an extra $50 onto what I've spent still puts me at an absolute bargain for what I've gotten out of it.

FWIW, I've played a fair amount of TAF Gold (a few of the addams here in Chicago have the roms loaded up) and its no big deal. The Cousin It bonuses are neat, and some of the extra stuff is cool, but you're not missing too much if you just get Addams Standard. Meanwhile, folks on the Pinball Arcade forums have deduced from the email clue that the next game is Data East's Phantom of the Opera. It's a funky decent early DE game with good music. It'll be a good Halloween game, especially paired up with Drac.

Although, I'm not a rules expert or anything. So, for all I know, the main SMB table could actually have a good rule set that I just didn't understand when I played it. I think I actually made a post here about that table after last year's CAX (2013)...yep, found it. Cut out everything that wasn't related to the SMB Table. Addams Family Gold is not any more fun than the regular table. The noticeable differences are really just things that inflate your scores like Cousin It's Hideout. There's also the extra ball buy in that I don't really care about.

Regarding Data East, they've always had the license for DE games it's just that most DE games are licensed (POTO isn't). I don't think they had the emulation ready for them either. According to the TPA forums, Farsight was just able to get a bulk licensing deal from Sony, so season four looks like it will definitely start to pick up some with DE/Sega games. Here's what it looks like that'd potentially net them:Pinball Arcade Fans posted:Independence day I doubt that Goldeneye is possible given how expensive Bond is, but Starship Troopers is a real treat - one of the few gems of the Sega games. Robocop is really fun, and Last Action Hero is a blast too (supposing they get Arnie - but I don't think they use his voice, just an enormous picture of his face on the backglass - which Farsight has now said they're fine removing). Johnny Mnemonic is a good time as well. As an aside, Spiderman is a Sony property too, but Spiderman is a SAM game which is too difficult for mobile phones to emulate, and they might have to also go through Disney which would make it impossible to get. "To be, or not to be." "And Hamlet is TAKING OUT THE TRASH!" "....not to be." I'd never played a Last Action Hero until a few years back and was surprised by just how fun it was. Definitely seemed like one of the best DE/Sega tables. It may be unlikely but I'd love to see Batman Forever someday - it was one of my favorite tables to play at Ground Kontrol but they got rid of it a few years ago. It was good fun and that Two-Face HEH HEH HEH HEH laugh would always crack up me and one of my friends. The Mystery bonus that raises your end-of-ball bonus to a whopping 20X though, that was way too good...

Holy moly BSD is fun. I'm really glad they stopped toning down the table difficulty as much lately. It's still a far cry from how brutal the actual machine is, but it's really drainy and I like it. Chasing the various multiballs around the playfield is a real treat. This easily goes into my top 5 TPA tables.

This table has a special place in my family. Growing up Phantom and TAF were our two favorite tables and we would go to the mini golf place and play a couple times a month. Now that us kids are older, we actually got our parents a Phantom table (was half the price of a TAF). The back glass is really cool. The way the phantom and mask are lot. Yes - the next game is the start of the fourth season. Looking back, the third season was very strong. The first season will likely always be the best given how front loaded it was with beloved classics, but they pulled out a lot of great games this time around. Also - I got 6 billion on Drac. I'm going to enjoy the warm glow of being in the top 10 scores for a day.
