Reviving this thread to tell y'all to watch the 2012 Dredd. It's brutal as gently caress, stylish, a combination of cyberpunk and postapocalypse... replace the effects with practical ones and it'd look like Robocop's close sibling. It's earlier than all the other examples, and not really a direct fit, but I just watched Romeo+Juliet and it has some definite elements of this. It at least takes place in Miami and has a ton of color in it. Edit: Also, some of the instrumental music has a bit of the sound to it, but the licensed stuff is all 90's alt-rock.

Everybody here needs to watch Maniac specifically for the soundtrack which instantly made me think of this thread. It's a really brutal slasher with Elijah Wood as the lead. Also, it's streaming on Netflix. The movie is probably not everyone's cup of tea, but it's worth a watch for the soundtrack alone. I'd post a clip of the song from youtube, but the images are spoilery. Just watch it if you've got Netflix.

Arg, I'm racking my brains but I can't seem to remember this. Does anyone have a link to that music video that's basically an 80s retrofuturistic sports pastiche, the awesome bemulleted american can-doers versus a bunch of weird cybernetic bad dudes? It's like some sort of weird baseball/football hybrid that somehow involves motorcycles and rollerblades, but for the life of me I cannot seem to recall that title or anything that would lead me to it.
