Yeah I did consider that, especially with my impending need to move on. I've never played 4 player Volkare and don't know if I really want to sit on the monastery for an extra turn just to grab what will often be Stamina, though.

Stelas
Sep 6, 2010

Yeah, to be honest I'm not sure either. Frost Bridge is not the best movement card, but if you draw certain Core tiles it's absolutely invaluable. It's hard to say without seeing the map itself.

I am considering rejigging Volkare down to Daring difficulty before we get too far into any of the tile stacks - handling him via PBP might be a nightmare already without the hard difficulty added on. Thoughts from the gallery? Do we see this through on Heroic?

('Daring' Volkare would currently have 2 city, 3 keep, 4 dragons, 10 orcs.)

CO: Before my turn starts, use Midnight Meditation to shuffle away this wound.

Just to give everyone an idea of my plans, I'm gonna assault the Mage Tower next turn. I'd like to grab Charm as my reward, and then hire the Illusionists (or if Volkaire's eaten them, the Golems) on the following turn. Anyone got a problem if I call dibs on those?

My understanding is that curse cannot reduce their armour (arcane immune) but it might be able to reduce their attack? Haven't read the rules on that for a while but there's some tricky wording around that.

Anyway, I would like to kill the assassins with Horn of Wrath and Swift Reflexes for 6 ranged/siege damage.

Stelas
Sep 6, 2010

Yes, that's right. In effect, Arcane Immunity only protects the creature, and things to do with the creature. It does not protect the creature's attacks. The fiddly bit here is that 'prevents a creature from attacking' is still affecting the creature.

anyway, Wolfhawk heckles the poor thing to death. HONK. The die comes up black, so Wolfhawk takes a Wound.
Wolfhawk levels and gets an advanced action and a skill, not to mention an artifact.

Wolfhawk flips:
Refreshing Bath (Once a round, gain a blue crystal and Heal 1.) and
Dueling (Once a turn, gain Block 1 against a single enemy and Attack 1 against the same enemy. If you kill that enemy without using any units for attack, block, or damage assignation, +1 Fame.)

Volkare finally loving moves, drawing a green.

To go quickly is foolish. To go slowly is prudent. Not to go; that is wisdom.
Play a powered stamina and a sideways mana bolt to march into the forest lade. Use a white mana from the source for this. Throw away a wound.

Provoke the Catapult, playing 2 powered stamina (one with a white Mana from the Source, that I turn into a green one via Polarization, another one from my reserve) to dodge the big rock.

Then use my Ballista Powered Swift Bolt and show them how you do siege weapons.

EDIT: Goddamit I'm bad at this game. I was obsessed with healing my monks to Siege the catapult, and when the cards didn't come my way I decided to throw my turn away before realising I could kill it.

Crap. Numbers just barely don't work together, and I can't generate two red to both Fire Block and power Rage. Should have cracked a blue crystal for the move, rather than use the die.

Tovak, cont'd

No range/siege.

No block. Golems intercept 3 damage and are wounded. Tovak takes two to the face for a wound.

Crack red crystal, play Rage (powered) and Cold Toughness for Attack 6, kill Ice Mages. Enter keep and level. Take Charm as my spell reward.

Stelas

I'm pretty mixed on that overlay. It would be nice to have, but at the same time it'd make the map look insufferable in the thread images, it'd be kind of way too dark and prone to compression artifacts.

Quick note on this: Reputation only applies when interacting at a location. If you're only using Influence for card effects, it does not apply. This means that Krang could potentially gather 9 Influence with his skill attached, letting him take Force of Nature to hand using Learning's strong effect. If he wants to toss out a red crystal to power both cards or change his play a bit, I'll allow it.

In any case, for the moment, Krang picks up Force of Nature to discard pile.

Take white die, play Promise (powered) for Influence 4 (3 total). Crack a white crystal, cast Charm for Influence 4 (7 total) and reduce the cost of the Illusionists to 4. Hire Illusionists (3 influence remaining).

Activate Illusionists for Influence 4 (7 total). Crack a blue crystal, spend 7 influence and the blue to learn Mist Form.

Hey Krang, if you could try and mana search up a blue die before my next turn, I'd super appreciate it. Kinda need to mist form my way onto a healing glade and cry it out for a couple turns.
