This chapter was wildly unrealistic. A true gamer would stop to test whether the bonuses from dual-wielding staves stack additively or multiplicatively.

Was it? Did I seriously completely misinterpret that whole scene? It sounded like a prophesy to me though, he goes on about how amazing Jee-Han its and then starts talking about the pitch black birds from beyond this realm and how they're gonna come back and be fought back by a powerful individual. It's possible that prophecy has power through mere invoking. That sounds like a pretty cool concept to me, and we really don't know how most people's magic works beyond "it's energy and poo poo using wizard math".
