Well, it gets donated to the Soviets in '44, so....

And it's slow and (mostly) unupgraded, so no doubt the AI will have it flagging carrier groups.

He probably got at least one, FoW on airstrikes can be pretty severe.

Even then, the difference between a sunk BB and one that's out of commission for 6-12 months is just VP.

The Hakko Ichiu scenario adds something like 4 brigade-sized land units, about 200-300 more planes in the starting pool, 3 more light cruisers, 20 more destroyers, the Shinano as a Taiho-class carrier, all Japanese CVLs coming with their own organic air groups, 1500 more pilots in the pool and twice as many monthly pilot replacements, larger resource stockpiles, more shipyards, factories and R&D

It basically frontloads Japan: you have more stuff to fight with right off the bat, but everything costs more so any delays in actually grabbing the DEI will have more dire consequences. And then if you can last that long you have enough shipbuilding capacity to finish most of your capital ships by 1944.

There's also an Ironman scenario that then gives Japan all sorts of unrealistic bullshit, like enough carriers to fight the Allied flood of Essexes to a standstill.

Intelligence Reports -> Ship Availability

According to my game (Forget what version), Ironman Japan has 14 CVs, 9 CVLs, 8 CVEs, 8 BBs (Which include the GNEISENAU and SCHARNHORST), 2 BCs (Admiral Scheer and Lutzow), 3 CAs (Admiral Hipper, Seydlitz and Prinz Eugen) either being built or set to arrive in convoys/task forces.

They also have 8 CVs, 6 CVLs, 7, CVEs, 13 BBs (Which include the Yamato and Musashi), and plenty of CA/CL/DDs currently in the water.

I think the only way Ironman could be more funny is if Japan were also sent the never actually completed German CV Graf Zeppelin along with most of the Italian Regia Marina. Basically the Axis realizes that the only way this naval thing is going to work is if they put all their eggs in one basket.

The Graf Zeppelin has to stay behind in Germany along with the Bismarck in case those upstart Brits try anything funny again.

The RM sending the Aquila or Sparviero along with some Conte Di Cavour/Andrea Doria Battleships as an Italian Force Z would've been pretty neat.

On Dec 7, the Japanese have:
* The big 6 Kido Butai, plus another Junyo-class CV (1 more than historical)
* The Ryujo and 3 other Chitose-class CVLs (2 more than historical)
* 7 CVEs (5 more than historical)
* 12 BBs, including the Yamato and Musashi already built (2 more than historical)
* 28 CAs and 40 CLs (10 more CAs and 21 more CLs than historical)
* 5955 land-based planes (3345 more than historical)
* 1868 naval planes (1159 more than historical)
* 1745 planes in pool (867 more than historical)
* 3200 IJN pilots in pool, 3802 IJA pilots in pool, 640 additional pilots per month, starting with 55 experience (historical: 1700 IJN, 2202 IJA, 345 replacements per month with 35 experience)

They're slated to receive or build:
* 15 CVs, with 12 of them arriving before 1945 (5 more than historical)
* 11 CVLs, all before May 1943 (8 more than historical)
* 8 CVEs (same as historical, but Ironman has them built sooner)
* 9 BBs, all before Oct 1943, and 2 (German) Battlecruisers (9 more than historical)
* 3 CAs and 14 CLs (no additional CAs historically, 9 more CLs than historical)
* 164 DDs, 173 subs (47 more DDs and 9 more subs than historical, most new subs are Operation Taifun German U-boats
* 563 tranports/merchantmen, 192 oilers/tankers (30 more transports/merchantmen, 12 more oilers/tankers)
* 140 landing craft/landing ships (87 more than historical)

On top of all that, R&D is sped up such that they can get the better Zeroes, Jills and Judys much faster, you can produce the knock-off Me-262s by 1944, and most island bases produce their own supplies so that the Allies cannot starve them out without engaging in strategic bombing even for places like Truk or the Marshall islands.
