Oh man, ground floor on another one of THESE LPs. Awesome. Sign me up for the HMS Royal Sovereign. It sounds impressive, it should BE impressive. Despite being a BB in a CV's world. ...Also it doesn't take years to appear and doesn't go away. That too.

Who knows, it could even do something useful ah who am i kidding you're never even going to find the sodding thing. My curiosity compels me though: What did the Soviets do with it after 1944?

Dreamsicle posted:I remember there was a scenario where Japan gets a lot of goodies to make playing against them a bigger challenge. What exactly do they get again? The Hakko Ichiu scenario adds something like 4 brigade-sized land units, about 200-300 more planes in the starting pool, 3 more light cruisers, 20 more destroyers, the Shinano as a Taiho-class carrier, all Japanese CVLs coming with their own organic air groups, 1500 more pilots in the pool and twice as many monthly pilot replacements, larger resource stockpiles, more shipyards, factories and R&D It basically frontloads Japan: you have more stuff to fight with right off the bat, but everything costs more so any delays in actually grabbing the DEI will have more dire consequences. And then if you can last that long you have enough shipbuilding capacity to finish most of your capital ships by 1944. There's also an Ironman scenario that then gives Japan all sorts of unrealistic bullshit, like enough carriers to fight the Allied flood of Essexes to a standstill.

There's only one choice--the real-life lucky ship, BB Nevada. Survived six bomb hits at Pearl Harbor, four theaters of war, two atomic bomb hits, and then even the Iowa couldn't sink her. A ship that wanted to live.

They also have 8 CVs, 6 CVLs, 7, CVEs, 13 BBs (Which include the Yamato and Musashi), and plenty of CA/CL/DDs currently in the water. Edit: Version 1.0.6.1108r9

I think the only way Ironman could be more funny is if Japan were also sent the never actually completed German CV Graf Zeppelin along with most of the Italian Regia Marina. Basically the Axis realizes that the only way this naval thing is going to work is if they put all their eggs in one basket.

The Graf Zeppelin has to stay behind in Germany along with the Bismarck in case those upstart Brits try anything funny again. The RM sending the Aquila or Sparviero along with some Conte Di Cavour/Andrea Doria Battleships as an Italian Force Z would've been pretty neat.
